About

With more than 20 years as a stand-up comedian, Tom Papa is one of the top comedic voices in the country, finding success as an actor, host, and author, in film, TV, radio and podcasts as well as on the live stage.

The comedian has had 4 highly rated stand-up specials on Netflix and recently released his 5th Netflix special, What A Day! on December 13th. The special was taped at the iconic Wilbur Theatre in Boston. His other critically acclaimed specials include Human Mule, Freaked Out and Tom Papa Live in New York City, two of which were directed by Rob Zombie.

On June 6, 2023, Tom will release his highly anticipated third book, We're All In This Together.....So Make Some Room. The book compiles comedic essays that aim to unite us through our stupidity. Every mistake has already been made, and this should bring us great comfort as we join together in our fight for survival, or at least in our attempt to get through the day. Whether we like it or not, we're all in this together.

In 2020, Tom released his second book, You're Doing Great! - And Other Reasons To Stay Alive, which was the follow-up to Your Dad Stole My Rake: And Other Family Dilemmas both released by St Martin's Press, making "Summer Must Read" lists from Parade Magazine to The New York Post. Tom is also a contributing writer to the New Yorker Magazine.

Tom's highly rated podcast, Breaking Bread with Tom Papa, features Tom and his guest eating, drinking, and celebrating the true meaning of breaking bread with insightful, revealing and always funny conversations. He also hosts the popular daily Netflix radio show, What A Joke With Papa And Fortune on Sirius XM Channel 93 and the monthly show, Come To Papa Live on Channel 94.

As an actor, Tom recently wrapped on the Untitled Nike film project, a Ben Affleck and Matt Damon film where Papa can be seen portraying the role of Stu Inman alongside Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, and others.

Tom has starred in many fan-favorite films including Paper Spiders where he stared opposite Lily Taylor, The Informant opposite Matt Damon, Analyze That opposite Robert DeNiro, and The Haunted World of El Superbeasto opposite Paul Giamatti, where Tom played the voice of El Superbeasto. He can also be seen alongside Michael Douglas and Matt Damon in the HBO film, Behind the Candelabra, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh and won 11 Emmys.

On TV, Tom hosted the NBC series, The Marriage Ref, which ran for two seasons and had a recurring role opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the CBS series, The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Tom is currently on his 2022 It's A Great Day! Tour and when he's not on the road, Tom lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two daughters, a cat and dog where he spends most of his time writing and baking bread. For more info on Tom go-to: www.tompapa.com.

    Tom was hilarious!

by Lisa on 4/15/24The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

My husband and I chose Tom Papa as our first date night since our son moved out of state 6 months ago. We have been married for 30 years. To say Mr. Papa’s jokes were on target is an understatement. It was like he was speaking about our life together! From the dog, to the kids, to the parents, to each other and especially ourselves, his descriptions were relatable and laugh out loud funny from beginning to end. We look forward to seeing him again and can’t wait for the release of his next Netflix special. In addition, his opening act, Andy Fiori, was really funny as well. We are so happy we chose Tom and Andy as our first experience “out in the wild” again. Thank you. Lisa & Russ Yerger

Tom Papa was very funny. He was very funny.

by JeffH21 on 4/15/24The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

Tom Papa is a gifted story teller. I can truly relate to many of the bits that he does. He made the audience including myself laugh and laugh. He has done several specials prior to this performance. To my knowledge, he shared only new material with us that night. The comedian who opened for him made me laugh as well. The staff at Santander Performing Arts Center was helpful and organized. It's a wonderful venue for this type of act.

We’ve been to a ton of shows, and when it comes to a comedy show they always run short…Tom Papa puts on an amazing show and gives you the best bang for your buck hands down.

    Lots of Laughs

by Nicole on 4/15/24The Wilbur - Boston

This was my first show to see at the Wilbur and it won't be my last! I have always enjoyed Tom Papa's humor and stories, and it was great that it he was finally in the Boston area. We were laughing the whole entire show. He did a good little back and forth with the audience that was wicked funny. We can't wait to see him again!

    Rescheduled due to snow?

by Kris on 4/10/24State Theatre - Portland

Despite being rescheduled from Thursday to Sunday night because of a Nor’easter, the show was very well attended. It was my first time seeing Tom Papa in person. He did not disappoint. From the minute he arrived on stage I began laughing and didn’t stop until I got home later that night. Fantastic show!!! Can’t wait to see him again.

Go to see him! State Theater did a good job seating everyone. Too many drinks were spilled during concert. Have people drink before concert of put in drink holders please.

Tom was A+++; opener Stephen was behind the times

by TomFan on 4/9/24The Wilbur - Boston

Tom’s set was A++++. We laughed nonstop. The vibe was the usual life-is-hard-but-you’re-doing-great tone that his fans love about him. The opener’s jokes (Stephen something) were problematic. He perpetuated tired, outdated tropes like the girlfriend/wife who is in charge of decorating and carrying the mental load. I would not see the opener again.

Best Comedy act in 35 years.

by Cracking up in Rhode ISLAND. on 4/9/24The Wilbur - Boston

Absolutely hilarious … relatable … high energy … particularly enjoyed the unplanned banter with a few audience members. A MUST SEE. Best comedy show since I saw George Carlin in the 80’s.

    Better in person than streaming

by Deehl on 3/25/24Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

Clever, perfect delivery made his comedy performance totally enjoyable. His family secrets theme was timely given new genetic research about family innerbreeding. Make the effort to go. Nice, friendly crowd. You will enjoy him and his lead-in warm-up comedian, too.

    Great show, tight seating

by Jules on 3/25/24Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

Tom put on a great show. However, the seating is too tight together. No arm rests. I was grossly aware of the woman’s thigh touching mine- from the lady sitting to my right. Not sure I’d go to that venue again.
