New wave 80's bands alive and well.

by jazzbluesnrockfan on 9/8/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Katrina and the Waves - great! English Beat - awesome! Very lively, just like old times - headline band still for sure!! Howard Jones - pretty good - too much reliance on electronica and not enough substance with the minimized format. Great drummer - Howard more of a showman than musician during the show. Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins) - Excellent! Tom did a great job as usual singing, playing guitar, timbales, tambourine, etc... and definitely stole the show with all the TT favs you'd expect. Still, even thought the new 3 gals behind him backing him on on 2 sets of keyboards, and drum set were great, but still, so sad to not see Curry on percussion and Seligman on bass and Leeway on percussion. So to distill it down onto electronic tracks and not the live version as it was in the 80's was a huge letdown, but the show still gets by for sure. Certainly not as much of the "real thing" as in most "come back" bands (same for H. Jones), hence the need for the combo-band line up. Still a great night of fun filled happy music that we all need more of!

    80's Rewind Thunder Valley

by Bongi on 9/5/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

The concert was awesome! Poor Katrina who started the show in the dead center of the setting sun and it was a hot one!! The English Beat was hands down one of my favorites. The music and vocals were spot on and brought back many memories. Howard Jones also killed it playing so many familiar favorites, and finally Tom Bailey from the Thompson Twins finished off a great night. My only gripe is how Thunder Valley handles their crowd. we paid for very good seats and throughout nearly all of the concert mine and many others views were blocked by people not even from our section standing in the isle's trying to push their way to the front. I'm all about standing for your favorite song but this couple a few rows up stood nearly the entire time, not in front of their seats but in the walkway totally blocking many people's view. I don't like dealing with idiots so we just sucked it up. Thunder Valley needs to respect the people who don't or "Can't" stand through an entire concert.

    Rewind Fest was stupendous!

by LisaBMcC on 9/3/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

The lineup put together by World One Presents and Retro Futura was outstanding! Attending a concert with three of my favorite bands was a euphoric experience! I didn't know much about Katrina and the Waves but she and her band were excellent musicians. Dave Wakeling/English Beat featured a set list of most of my favorites and though Dave was the only original band member, the other musicians made it hard to notice this fact. Howard Jones had some fun retooling a song or two but he was just as good as I remember or maybe "Things can only get better"? Thompson Twins' Tom Bailey's set was especially nostalgic for me and it was such a treat to see him after so many years. He is still the consummate musician and showman. Thunder Valley's proximity to my home remains the best reason to go to concerts there. I would like to see a tent in the future. It gets hot on that blacktop! If they can spritz Febreeze every once in a while when the landfill sinks, it would be nice... Otherwise, I can't wait till next year's show!

80s Rewind Tour (Retro Nuevo Tour)

by Humboldtus on 9/3/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Great show except for the beginning. Because of a city ordinance, concerts must end at 10:00, so the first act only played for 20 minutes. I felt a bit cheated. The next 3 acts played longer and put on good performances. It was an outdoor venue and hot at first until the sun went down. They started playing right away and the changeovers also went as quickly as could be expected. I just wish they would have started the show earlier since they know the musicians can't play past 10:00. Just as an aside, I find it odd the city/county would have a noise ordinance for the casino since it is in the middle of nowhere (not sure who they would be disturbing except a couple of farmers).

    Great show

by Deflac on 9/3/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

he show was really fun. So many people dressed up in 80's clothes, and the performers were really great. I enjoyed The English Beat the most. I can't wait for next years show.

    Had a blast!

by Mbowden98 on 9/3/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

All the bands were great and we danced our butts off. Would have loved to have more English Beat, but I know time was an issue with 4 bands playing.
