    WORST LOW BUDGET CONCERT!

by J. Statia on 5/1/24MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - Poughkeepsie

Freestyle music is dead & if wasn’t before then it definitely is after this horrible scotched tape, dollar tree concert. I was so excited to go here and relieve childhood feel good music, this missed the mark! You can tell as soon as the mic wen ton that they DID NOT do sound check, felt low budget & very much karaoke like. What a disappointment for real. The time and details put into this show were as bad as the singing was. The opening DJ act was better.

    So much fun!!

by Dee on 4/30/24MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - Poughkeepsie

The show and performers were great!! What was something on my “bucket list” is now on my “annual list” to attend, it was so much fun!! It was an amazing night, we danced all night and relived so many memories. The only negative was that the sound system at the Poughkeepsie Civic Center is horrible and they didn’t have enough bartenders working, the lines were ridiculously long all night long.

    Freestyle in Poughkeepsie

by Jimmy on 4/30/24MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - Poughkeepsie

I loved it. And they performed in Poughkeepsie, so I didn’t have to drive into the NYC area. Win win.

The Atmosphere was Amazing and Wonderful, I had so much fun and to top it off I had plenty of space to dance at the spot where my seat was. I’m a Freestyle Fan For Life🖤

Was expecting to here their freestyle hits. Instead, I watched a hip hop performance. Had I known, I would have left early.

Good/Modern flare but I like the originals better.

by Love bandit a.k.a. Scars of Love To my friends on 4/30/24MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - Poughkeepsie

I have seen this new group on two occasions. I understand the need to modernize .However , I prefer the originals.. I have a tattoo saying scars of love on my left shoulder and wear it proudly forever. It has great meaning! TKA probably one of the greatest music groups in my prime in the genre. Their songs and lyrics will always forever hold special meaning to me and my friends. Whether it was making it through difficult times in life, listening to their music to help us get through it or going through the growing up phase dating being able to relate to the stories told in their music. The music, somehow was always uplifting even if it helped you to get the bad feelings out and purge. Probably my favorite male Group. Not one of our road trips or clubbing days went without playing some TKA from one way love scars of love, tears may fall, louder than love and all the others. TKA always got me and my friends going. At age 48 I got my first tattoo, and it has great meaning for a lot of reasons I will forever proudly wear that tattoo on my left shoulder next to the only other tattoo I ever got of a cardinal. The words in that song, not only represent phase and going through relationships, but to me hold special meaning for loss loved ones, including my best clubbing partner that passed away a couple years ago, and was disabled in an awful car accident and some of his lowest moments and some of my lowest moments, he could always call me up and refer to me as scars of love because he knew how important that song was to both of us. I will have the memories of him and my other former friends and our relationships and becoming adults through that patch on my shoulder as a constant reminder of how your music empowered us made us enthusiastic brought hope to our lives, but also helped us purge times of despair . I will always prefer the original group and their beats and lyrics however, I appreciate and respect this group for trying to keep the memories and the music and also add a modern twist to it. I really enjoyed them bringing it back to some old-school rap and talking about my hometown, knowing about the roots of music in the early 80s to the early 90s . Yes, I’m the guy that drove the white Thunderbird around and dressed in all those pimp suits back in the day with my wipers rocking back-and-forth and the car thumping to these beats. All grown up married with fam, but still playing that music of yesterday and even getting my kids to appreciate it.

I felt like I was young again!

by Chris M on 4/30/24MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - Poughkeepsie

The entire show was a trip back in time. Memories were flowing. If you weren’t on your feet or if you weren’t moving your body then you were obviously not there! 😉
