Alt R&B songstress Tinashe has emerged as one of the genre's brightest young talents, casting a spell over audiences with her smooth voice, sensual lyrics, and next-level sound. She scored a club hit in early 2014 with the bounce-worthy single "2 On" from her debut album Aquarius, but she's just as comfortable making music for the bedroom. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Kentucky-born, Los Angeles-raised Tinashe Jorgensen Kachingwe began acting and modeling at age three, but her true passion has always been music. From age 14-18 she sang in the girl group The Stunners, eventually dropping out of high school to focus on the project. The group achieved moderate success, releasing an EP and accompanying Justin Bieber on his 2010 My World Tour before disbanding in 2011. After the split Tinashe began writing and recording tracks in her home studio, and in 2012 she made her solo debut with the mixtape In Case We Die, an auspicious collection of bedroom R&B that drew praise from critics and landed her a deal with RCA Records. Two more self-released mixtapes followed before the label released her official debut full-length, 2014's Aquarius. The album featured production work by Ryan Hemsworth, DJ Mustard, and Mike Will Made It, and earned Tinashe her first appearance on the charts with the Top 5 R&B hit "2 On". Since then she has continued to generate buzz with her energy and personality on stage, earning a reputation that has ticket buyers eager to catch her tour.
