About

Tiger Army played their first show at seminal California DIY venue 924 Gilman in 1996. A trio with guitar, stand-up bass & drums led by singer, guitarist & songwriter Nick 13, the band’s sound is a unique blend of punk and Midcentury rock 'n' roll, emphasizing songwriting and melody.

Four albums were released on Hellcat/Epitaph, starting with their self-titled debut in 1999. Heavy touring continued through the end of 2008, when they wrapped the cycle for ‘Music From Regions Beyond’, produced by the legendary Jerry Finn. The album yielded the single “Forever Fades Away” and their highest visibility with favorable reviews in the ‘New York Times’ & a national TV appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, yet they’ve always been outsiders to the mainstream, authenticity never compromised.

Nick 13 switched gears to play Americana music solo, releasing & touring a self-titled album on Sugar Hill Records in 2011. Tiger Army continued in a limited capacity, still playing ‘Octoberflame’, a multi-night SoCal festival curated by 13 (which had its tenth installment in 2019 with 2 sold out shows at The Wiltern in Los Angeles) and known for the band’s different setlists each night featuring deep cuts, surprise covers & guest musicians.

The band returned to full-time status in 2015 with the recording of 'V •••–' (their fifth album), released the following spring on Lunatone/Rise & supported with extensive touring over four continents that lasted into late 2017. 2018 saw the release of the tiki/surf themed 'Dark Paradise' EP. 2019 was marked by the creation & release of 'Retrofuture', their sixth full length LP – they managed to tour in North America, Germany & the UK before the pandemic struck.

Tiger Army is known for its passionately devoted fanbase, with thousands sporting tattoos of lyrics, song titles, or the band’s signature “TigerBat” logo. Any set is a journey that takes the audience from romantic ballads like “Dark and Lonely Night” or the Rock en español “Mi Amor La Luna”, to high energy stompers like “F.T.W.”.

They celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2021, come see what’s led to the longevity for yourself at a live show when you can!

    Great show, but short sets!

by Anonymous on 11/2/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

This show was great, great sound, great lighting, great bar service. The first band (hillbilly Casino) was good but played a short set. The second band MAD SIN who is just as good and talented as Tiger Army played a VERY short set list, which was a disappointing tease! The concert ended early and all of us felt they could have played much longer. especially considering these bands do not come around/play that often!

Tiger Army always impresses on Halloween :)

by MissVazquez on 11/2/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

All of the bands put on a great show, but of course Tiger Army was the best. I loved that they played an entire album (the Power of Moonlight) and I loved more that most of the audience knew that album. Many old fans were there and they lived up to our expectations. Best Tiger Army show I've been to.

Tiger Army did not play long enough. Parking sucked on the way out. Took 40 minutes!

Great show! Loved the intimate venue. Tiger Army never fails to entertain. I feel they are better live than on record.

    The 1st night was upsetting!

by Madadict on 11/1/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

The bands were right on track with their time, but the 1st night's show ended at about 10:20! Which is not an exaggeration but a very accurate estimate! It was ridiculous because even backyard gigs end later than that! Unless of course if the gigs get raided by the police, then in that case no. But overall a very clean and organized show. Tiger Army was fantastic, but Nick 13 had these smug looks all through their set which made me think less about the band because of his arrogance. Even though there were some upsetting things i still love tiger army to death, although their music will NEVER DIE! ha

    Poor Sound

by Hellcatman on 11/1/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

Sound was horrible. I couldn't hear the bass and when I did, it sounded like rubberbands. House of Blues and Music Box (Fonda) are my two favorite locations.

Tiger Army is great live, but......

by MissyMellow on 11/11/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

I was mildly disappointed with this event. It was not as amazing as I expected. I love Tiger Army and I love Nick 13, but I was disappointed that they didn't come out for an encore after the show ended and that they didn't play any country songs as Tiger Army, only as "Nick 13" solo, which felt more like he was just promoting himself. The opening performance 45 Grave sucked. They butchered their own songs. They have great recorded songs but I wouldn't pay to see them in concert. The other band was good though. I was expecting something out of the ordinary or more Halloween themed, but that didn't happen except for the alcohol. Overall, I would definitely see Tiger Army again because I am a loyal fan, but this particular show was a so-so one. I have definitely seen better from them.

Tiger Army never disappoints! They played a variety of songs from every album (as usual) and had incredible energy. Nick 13 played some songs from his new solo project which I also enjoyed. Tiger Army is one of my favorite bands and The Grove is one of my favorite venues...it was perfect!

    TxAxNxD

by AprilT on 11/4/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

The Tiger Army shows are always great. This show however, seemed very short. Between the second act and Tiger Army's performance, there was a really long wait. I didn't care much for that. Once Tiger Army took the stage, there were two intermissions for Nick13 to go change, and those breaks took long too. I would of like for them to of played longer since there was such a delay in the show with the breaks and all. This time, there wasn't a great ending to the show. It left me feeling, "Is that it?" I was at last years show too, and that one rocked! This show kind of let me down.

    Choice Show

by m0rpheus on 11/3/09The Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

First TA show for me, and WOW! Great venue, great sound, great vibe. Tiger Army's set was awesome. Bleeding Through... not so much. Milwaukee Wildmen were a pleasant surprise. I've always wanted to catch these guys on the road, but could never swing it. Well worth the wait.

    Tiger Army was Amazing!!

by luvneversleepz on 11/2/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

This was my first time seeing Tiger Army. It was also my first time at this venue. I really like the wasy the Grove of Anaheim was set-up and I thought it was cool that all the employees were dressed up for Halloween. I thought the opening band was very talented. I also enjoyed watching Bleeding Through. They are not the genre of mousic I normally listen to but I thought it was cool they wanted to play with Tiger Army and they way they appealed to everyones love for music. Tiger Army was amazing as I expected.

    TIGER ARMY NEVER DIES

by MiseryDawn on 11/2/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

As a girl who is 98% all metal. I found myself a bit out of my element on this one. So this was obviously my first Tiger Army show. They completely blew me away. I have been to over 200+ extreme metal shows and some how this show found it's way to my top 10 shows of all time. The set list was awesome. I knew I should have gone back to see them on Halloween!

    Pure Amazing

by KassandraLynne on 11/2/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

Have been listening and going to different west coast shows for years. Can't get enough. Sad I couldn't go on Halloween. I heard they played nocturnal and power of moonlight as an encore..
