    Thin Lizzy concert

by Spilks on 3/27/11Best Buy Theater - New York

Thought concert was fun; missing more content; could have played longer--more songs; needs stuff like sweet marie; old flame; thought Thin Lizzy was great ; would go again; thought show was priced right too.

    Great band and venue !

by Pjknewyork on 3/27/11Best Buy Theater - New York

First, just let me compliment the venue. It was the first time for me, at the Best Buy Theater and I was very impressed. Everything was first rate, from the staff to the hall to the pricing. I will definitely be back. Thin Lizzy was nearly perfect. Vivian Campbell from Def Leppard, was on fire the whole night. I have always thought he was a great player, but his obvious love for the Lizzy tunes and vibe seemed to inspire the whole band. Brian Downey on drums was the reason I was there. In my mind, he and Scott Gorham are just as important to Lizzy as Phil and I probably would not have gone if either of those fellows was not there. The show was a celebration of the legacy of Lizzy and of those the band has lost. Phil and Gary Moore were both mentioned and there was some nostalgia in the air. I have to say though, this is not a tribute act. This is the real deal. This is a first rate rock n roll band firing on all cylinders ! I had some issues with the setlist...I think opening with, "Are You Ready?", in my opinion a weak Lizzy tune, wasn`t the best idea. I would have liked to have seen some tunes from "Thunder and Lightening" included. Overall, a great show though.

    Best Buy Theater NYC 3/25/2011

by LTBR on 3/27/11Best Buy Theater - New York

Very solid performance by a band full of top notch musicians. The band were really enjoying themselves and the crowd was feeding off the enthusiasm. No flat spots in this show, they went for it and rocked out for the entire set. If I had to call anyone out for a MVP it would be Vivian Campbell. He was performing at a level I haven't seen him at in awhile, his playing/shredding was impeccable. His interplay with Scott Gorham was outstanding and was faithful to the the Thin Lizzy legacy. I hope they can keep this lineup intact, would definately attend another show. Highly recommend to others who enjoy guitar oriented rock n roll.

    New Lizzy Energy!

by DubMick on 3/27/11Best Buy Theater - New York

A great nights entertainment. The band rocked out the music and sound a lot sharper than the last time I heard them in NY. Great to see Brian Downey behind the drum set, adds a lot to the band. Ricky Warwick is well able to handle the lyrics and a great sound all around. They seem to be enjoying themselves which is what it is all about! I hope they make it an annual. Best Buy is a great location, a poor sound quality, but a great venue for such an event and the staff were very professional. The sound can be fixed! Thanks to all who made it a great night!

Phil and Gary Got the Biggest Hand!

by BuzzardBill on 3/26/11Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Thin Lizzy has the same problem as Manzarek/Krieger. No matter who they hire as a frontman, he won't be as good as the original. That said, Thin Lizzy carried on and did quite well Thurs. night. Six piece band, three members from the Lynott era (Gorham, Downey and Wharton), two great players from "name" bands (Mendoza and Campbell, from Whitesnake, Nugent, Def Leppard), and a great new relatively unknown (in the US anyway) frontman, Ricky Warwick. Just looking at the band's post-Lynott history, this has got to be their strongest lineup yet.

    Thin LIzzy--simply Awesome show!!!

by topcop41 on 3/26/11Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Thin LIzzy 2011 are not some has beengroup or tribute band--they are the real deal. From their opening song "Are you Ready" through their touching tribute to Gary Moore in "Black Rose"-these boys still know how to rock. I have seen some great concerts over the years including but not limited to The Eagles, The Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss and AC/DC; and let me tell you; THIN LIZZY ranks in the tops of the list as best live act you will ever see. Ricky Warwick does a great job on lead vocals and at times, you would swear you are listening to Phil Lynott again!! Scott Gorham still rips it up on guitar and what can you say about Vivian Campbell? One of the greatest guitar players there is and was and finally great to see him getting to unleash his lead talents on the Lizzy stage. Brian Downey was great on the drums and nice to see him back in the fold; Marco Mendoza was absolutely superb at playing Phil's basslines. Go see this show if you get chance!!

    thin lizzy rocked

by freddiefettucini on 3/26/11Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

I was a little curious as to how they would be. I've seen a lot of classic bands make the rounds with one or two original members and usually they are just mailing it in. Not this time! WOW! These guys came out and began rockin' with "Are You Ready?"and went balls to the walls until their final encore "Black Rose". Scott Gorham and Brian Downey have brought "Live and Dangerous" back to the stage. The band is very very tight! CLOSE YOUR EYES! IT"S THE '70's! RIP Phil and Gary !!

    Great show for Thin Lizzy

by mbart0106 on 3/26/11Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Overall I was impressed by this lineup representing Thin Lizzy, had a good mix of their songs. I saw Thin Lizzy open for Deep Purple a couple years back with a much shorter set list, so I was happy to see them headline at a smaller venue with a full set.

    Keeping Lizzy Live

by LizzyFan on 3/26/11Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

I last saw Thin Lizzy in 1976 and was glad to see them keeping Phil Lynott's songs alive and dangerous. The new lineup plays with great energy and enthusiasm in the Thin Lizzy tradition. New rockers need to know this music and will realize how much they are influenced by it. Long Live Thin Lizzy
