The Young Dubliners on Tour

In many ways, Ireland can be best represented through their culture of music and the distinctive sound associated. However, one may not need to travel to Ireland to get a taste of that traditional folk sound but rather to the United States where The Young Dubliners have been jamming out with their rock twist on the Celtic folk genre. The Young Dubliners have commenced their 2023 tour, making stops in Jacksonville, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, Boston, Salt Lake City, and Denver, among others. Though the roots of The Young Dubliners' sound began as simplistic acoustic folk, it would transform over time with the addition of new band members into a pleasantly unique mix of Celtic folk and powerful headbanging rock. In 1994, The Young Dubliners released their debut EP titled Rocky Road, followed by their debut full-length album, Breathe, in 1995. The Young Dubliners released several albums from then on, including Alive, Alive 'O (1998), Red (2000), Absolutely (2002), Real World (2005), With All Due Respect: The Irish Sessions (2007), Saints & Sinners (2009), and Nine (2014).

The Young Dubliners Live in Concert

Despite their native Irish roots, the duo of frontman Keith Roberts (lead singer/rhythm guitarist) and Paul O'Toole began performing together in 1988 after moving to California. By 1993 they would officially call themselves The Young Dubliners and eventually evolve into a seven-piece band. O'Toole would move on from the band in the mid-90s, while Roberts would remain the only constant in the band throughout the years. Current members, in addition to Roberts, include Chas Waltz (violin/keys/vocals), Justin Pecot (guitar/vocals), Dave Ingraham (drums), and Ethan Jones (bass guitar). Although often referred to as only Celtic rock, The Young Dubliners maintain Celtic roots with a variation of other influences, with Roberts explaining on their website, "The Sound was intended to be a hybrid because we all come from different backgrounds..." The popular Celtic hybrid band has been featured twice on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" -- where they performed "Rosie" from their album Saints & Sinners on St. Patrick's Day on one occasion. They've also had songs in TV shows such as "Sons of Anarchy" and "Human Target." The Young Dubliners can be found on Spotify, where they boast more than 230,000 monthly listeners. Their most listened to tracks on the platform include "Bodhran," "Foggy Dew," "I'll Tell Me Ma," and "Follow Me Up to Carlow."
