About

Mellen Events and Future Entertainment are proud to announce the return of Liverpool-based indie rockers The Wombats to Australia!
Following on from the enormous success of their chart-topping sophomore release ‘The Wombats Proudly Present... This Modern Glitch', The Wombats are back down under for a run of dates that are sure to electrify audiences nationally!
After a tireless summer touring the biggest European festivals as well as an extensive run of headline shows, The Wombats are now getting ready to celebrate the phenomenal success of their latest album with their biggest Aussie tour to date.
This return will see the British trio step up to perform all of their chart-topping smash hits, including ‘Tokyo (Vampires And Wolves)', ‘Techno Fan', ‘Jump In The Fog', and ‘Let's Dance to Joy Division' at some of Australia's leading concert venues, boasting bigger numbers and production than ever before.

Since the band's formation, The Wombats have developed a unique style and built a strong fan base in Australia.
Meeting at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts in 2003, Matthew Murphy, Dan Haggis and Norwegian-born Tord Øverland-Knudsen quickly became friends and soon after started to jam together. The Wombats were born!
Their debut album 'Guide To Love, Loss And Desperation', released in 2007 was a phenomenal success. Combined sales of indie dancefloor smashes ‘Kill The Director', ‘Let's Dance To Joy Division' (winner of the 2008 NME Award for Best Dancefloor Filler), ‘Backfire At The Disco' and ‘Moving To New York' reached 300,000! The trio then embarked on a two-year tour, during which Liverpool's biggest exports in a decade played to well over a million people!
The release of ‘...This Modern Glitch' in April 2011 has seen the band take their career to the next level.  The album instantly received widespread critical acclaim and was hailed ‘album of the week' on both triplej and RADAR Radio. It was catapulted all the way to the number 2 position on the ARIA charts, staying in the top 30 since it's release, and is now on it's unyielding way to being certified Gold.
This week also marks the highly anticipated release of the trio's next single set as ‘Our Perfect Disease', a track that will rock Australian fans in all the right ways!
The Wombats are the epitome of fun. They're refreshingly upbeat and humorous, whilst sonically sound at the same time. Cheeky lyrics, slick guitars and classic keys all blend together perfectly on this tongue in cheek, introspective look at today's society.
With so much buzz surrounding ‘... This Modern Glitch' and a live performance that will blow you away, it's little wonder that Liverpool's The Wombats are widely regarded as one of the hottest live dance rock bands in the world today...
So don't miss out on your chance to see The Wombats, live, in their forthcoming Australian tour in October 2011.

They put on a simply amazing show... this, their amazing music and the fact that they are absolute gems in person make me love Murph, Dan and Tord so much. They put everything they have into their shows. This was my second time seeing them and they made this night even more unforgettable than the last.

An Incredible Performance by the Wombats!

by A075 on 5/2/12The Club at Stage AE - Pittsburgh

This concert was truly amazing! The Wombats were full of energy and the performance was incredible! Also I was very impressed with the opening band Flagship. They were pretty awesome and I enjoyed them so much that I purchased their cd.

Their set was so energised and so well thought out. The crowd was okay. Kind of rude. The floor vibrated the whole show. I was disappointed that they didn't play Backfire at the Disco but the show was completely worth it anyway. Would see them again in a heartbeat.

    Great show by The Wombats

by AverageBen on 10/22/11Webster Hall - New York

The Wombats played a great show at Webster Hall. The band played hard and with lots of passion. The music sounded great, but not exactly the same way as it does on the CD, so that was refreshing. All in all, a really fun concert.

    Need More!!!

by Khere00 on 10/21/11Webster Hall - New York

This was my second time seeing The Wombats, and I'm even more impressed with them then I was the first time. Although there were a few minor technical issues, the band played it off well with their usual humor. I think they played a decent number of songs, although I think the encore could've been longer. However, since they'd just arrived from Australia, I won't hold it against them lol!! Love this group, and can't wait for them to come back!

My experience at the Wombats concert at Webster Hall was great! The venue was nice-- security did it's job and was professional, and the venue had a great atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed the show the Wombats put on. I couldn't find a single flaw-- the band was lively and energetic, the singing was great, and so were the instrumentals. The Wombats attracted a wide variety of fans, ranging from teenage hipsters to middle age couples which really shows their ability to play diverse and interesting music. I definitely recommend seeing them!

Loved the openers. Spring Tigers were pretty good, but The Postelles were really great. Bought their CD after the show. The Wombats were stellar.

One of the best shows of my life

by Liverpoolisaweirdname on 10/21/11Webster Hall - New York

I've seen Arcade Fire, Matt and Kim, and Phoenix just to name a few, and I enjoyed this show more. It's hard to describe it...just mix heartfelt emotions, drunken British banter, and explosive dance rock. I must see them again!

    Postelles were amazing!

by indieman on 10/21/11Webster Hall - New York

The Wombats were great...but truth be told, the Postelles stole the show. They are going to be big!

Honestly one of the most fun experiences I've had. I've been listening and looking forward to seeing the Wombats for years and it finally paid off. Just the three of them managed to give a great concert with so much energy and passion for their quirky songs and ridiculous lyrics. I was in heaven, and it was in the great Webster hall so it really was heaven.

    Postelles/Wombats were AMAZING

by WWWombats on 10/21/11Webster Hall - New York

First of all, this was the most punctual show I have EVER seen, and that's a real selling point for those of us who have work the next morning. The Postelles were marvelous as expected (the front man is great in person) and the Wombats were an absolute force. They played a generous 1 hr 15 minute set and were absolutely beloved by the crowd.

Another great act at the Bowery

by gemsagem on 6/3/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Hate to be cliché but got to say my fave was the encore "Let's dance to joy division" - everybody revved up with a mini moshpit in front of the stage. Regretted wearing flip flops, but totally worth the re-pedicure.

    Awesome Energy!

by indierocker617 on 6/3/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

The Wombats are great! Had an amazing time at this show, as did the crowd. People were jumping up and down, and dancing a good part of the show. Their music for the most part is upbeat, and I just love "Moving to NY." Usually at Bowery Ballroom it tends to be fairly easy to find your way to the front. This show, that was impossible. In order to be up close you had to be there really early. An added bonus: at the very end, The Wombats all crowd-surfed! So freakin' cool to witness that!
