Click your heels together and join Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto, as they journey through the magical land of Oz to meet the Wizard and obtain their hearts' desires. Watch out for the Wicked Witch of the West and her winged monkeys as you rediscover the real story of Oz in this fantastic musical treat for all the family. Starring Danielle Wade as Dorothy, who was chosen by the Canadian public through CBC TV's reality show "Over The Rainbow," the tour of THE WIZARD OF OZ is an enchanting adaptation of the all-time classic. Developed from the ever popular MGM screenplay, this new production contains all the beloved Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg songs from the Oscar®-winning movie score, all the favorite characters and iconic moments, plus a few surprises along the way, including new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Excellent performance. Magnificant sets and costumes that brought everything together to give you the feeling you were in Kansas and OZ.
This production was as absolutely true to the classic (although the Munchins were taller than I remembered) then took it to another level of excellence. The scene changes and use of video on transparent screens were amazing. The costumes were beautiful! It was interesting to see the audience really get into the familiar songs and then settle in to listen to the new. What a nice mix. The talent was terrific. Real standouts were the Wicked Witch of the West, Dorothy and, of course, Toto. That dog stole the show! Thanks for a wonderful afternoon in Oz!
I am so awestruck by the talent in all of the cast, the costumes, the sets, the musicians and the whole production. I am so blessed to have shared this experience with my niece, who also loved the performance, and is a Wizard of Oz fan. Thanks to everyone involved in bringing this production to Chicago.
This was my first play and it was just awesome the actors and a actress were amazing
A great play! Lively, entertaining, great cast, wonderful Dorothy! She looks and sounds so much like the original. I took my 3 and 5 year old and they both loved it! There were a few scary parts but overall they were so enthrall we they barely noticed the 2 1/2 hour run time. I would definitely go back.
The play was awkward with the flashing lights and stick "stomp" thing at the witches castle. I wasnt sure what that had to do with it..The singing voices were great and the sets were amazing.
The cast was great, I loved Toto, and it was so much fun.
Dorthy was the best, great voice. loved the special effects.
This was a great performance. It kept your attention and kept moving along. It was not dull at all. A real crowd pleasure.
Great show but had a problem with the venue. We're is the handicap accessible ramp in front of the palace? Men's washroom lower level?
I had heard about ALW Wizard of Oz being in London first and I knew I wanted to see it if it did come to Chicago. Well then it was announced US National Tour before anything on Broadway! But at first, NO CHICAGO! I was unhappy and expressed... Somehow Chicago was added. Bought tickets right when they went on sale for 7 of us total! Saturday Matinee perfect! We all enjoyed it! Classic story but a little extra added - definitely more of the Wicked Witch of the West - probably because of WICKED but that is ok with us! We all love Wicked just as much!!! Really wonderful!
We took my brother and sister-in-law to their first play - The Wizard of Oz. All of us really enjoyed the play and were not disappointed. My fiance was not really thrilled about seeing this play but really enjoyed it once we had seen it. We all would definitely recommend seeing this production.
My daughter is 8 and my husband does not like to go to these sort of things but I can honestly say all three of us had a great time. The show is amazing and held her attention the entire time. Kudos to Andrew Loyd Weber. The music was great and the new pieces of music fit in beautifully. Had no difficulty parking either.
Wizard of Oz was very entertaining for children and adults. Extra songs were very good. There was humor inserted that was enjoyed by all.
Can't say enough good things about The Wizard of Oz! Perfect casting, wonderful voices and spectacular effects!
The cast was amazing and loved how trained the dog was. The play has a great set and it had great visual and lighting effects. Enjoyed every minute of the play had great and funny moments
Was Great for the kids or if your a Wizard of Oz fan!!!
A show for everyone. A classic story comes to life on stage.
I am the biggest lover of "The Wizard of Oz." in all forms. At the beginning of the show my breath was taken away by the original score, and the use of the black and white clouds as a nod to the original MGM film. However, promptly after the Overture when the lights went up in Kansas it went down hill...fast. I didn't expect for the "new songs" to be anything worth remembering, and they were not. It takes a lot to make a theatre lover leave $100 seats during intermission. The characters were so poorly developed. In particular, the Scarecrow, who approached the role as LITERALLY not having a brain. The Scarecrow is suppose to be the smartest character in the show, illustrating that he had a brain the entire time. This cheap "Family Guy" style knock-off didn't serve the show or the actors poor comedic timing. Nothing ruins a musical like misplaced/misused humor. The most prominent bastardization was the Cowardly Lion. Not so much Cowardly, but rather played as a flamboyant diva. When he came down stage in his skin tight lion costume I knew I'd be cringing the entire time he was on stage. The actor constantly dug for bits and tried to be center of attention going completely against the context of the character. I could go on, and on about what the show lacked. The characters didn't care about each other, and that relationship between them is crucial to the story. If they didn't care, then why should I? But most of all, I'd say the entire show was much like the Tin Man... it just lacked heart.
