Band was great; venue took away from the experience

    by D. W. on 4/5/23The Underground - Charlotte

I've seen probably a dozen shows at the Underground, and I don't remember being so bothered by the limitations of the venue. The Winery Dogs are a legit super-group, and I was really looking forward to watching them play in a small/medium room. But all I could see were the heads of the musicians, and only if I moved around to avoid taller people who would block the view of the entire stage. I saw nothing. I'm 5'10" and the place seemed to be filled with dudes over 6'2". Disappointing. But the sound was good. Loud but not earplug loud. Ritchie got some amazing tones out of his rig, and Billy's bass tones can act as both bass and another guitar, keeping it interesting, which is the challenge of a power trio. I kept waiting for Mike to stretch out on drums, but he was more restrained than I was expecting. His short breaks showed off his talents, and I could have listened to a lot more of them. In a different venue, the overall performance would easily have been 5-stars, but I had to take away one for not being able to see the band.

    Best group out there

by Sean on 4/5/23The Underground - Charlotte

The Winery Dogs are super. Great show. They have fun in stage. Played a long time not break and just killed it. So talented. Must see for any hard rock fan or someone who appreciates seeing one of the best guitar players in the world, one of the best bassists in the world, and one of of the best drummers in the world and lastly one of the best voices in music today all on one stage playing their hearts out.

    Greatest Rock Band Around.

by Ruthless One on 4/5/23The Underground - Charlotte

The Winery Dogs have a plethora of songs that are memorable while also commanding from a virtuoso playing stand point. However, they never let their advanced playing get in way of the song. Every chorus is catchy. Their shows are off-the-cuff with improvising moments while playing though their songs. Richie's voice just cuts and his soul aspects hit the heart. Billy and Mike are a ryhthm section that just keep everything moving whole flying by the seat of their pants. Billy provided an amazing solo by himself that I'm sure for many was their favorite part of the show. Go see the band, you're not going to see another band in our time like this. I don't say just that as a fan, I say that as someone who is apart of the industry. Go watch them, you won't regret it! The venue, "The Underground," was very cool. Atmosphere is great and intimate. But they really need more of an elevated stage. At times it was very difficult to see the band, especially if people are towering over you and I'm not a short guy but I still had a difficult time at moments.

Two legends and one soon to be!

by Tuuch on 4/5/23The Underground - Charlotte

Billy Sheehan might be the best, most underrated musician I have ever followed, all the way back to his days in Talas! Portnoy’s multiple talents and experience speak for themselves! And Kotzen will soon be a household name to anyone that knows anything about rock and roll!

    Great band, horrible venue.

by Dreghead on 4/5/23The Underground - Charlotte

There are a lot of bands that come to the underground that i want to see but dont because the venue is horrible. Its a low stage and a flat floor. You cant see anything. They overcrowd it, eventhough the spacious fillmore is empty nextdoor. I found it easy to get a beer because they were 16 dollars each and people werent buying them. The Winery Dogs are so good i endured the Underground to see them.

One of the best shows I've ever seen!

by B. P. on 3/24/23House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

Three of the greatest musicians of our generation put on one incredible show. I usually stay away from concerts at the House of Blues as it's usually overly crowded making the experience quite miserable. This particular show was very comfortable as far as the crowd goes. This was one of the best concerts I've ever seen!

Billy, Mike, and Richie were amazing live. Been to 100's of concerts, and this was a top 5. I saw them at Penns Peak. Will most likely go see them in Sayersville NJ this Thursday as well. Nothing short of impressive. Definitely 5 out of 5 stars

Ass kicking bass and guitar playing

by Al young on 2/19/23Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

The band was rocking. Drums, billy on bass and ritchie was awesome. It would of been a great experience except the lady 2 rows behind my wife and i decided to drink to much and throw up all over the place. The smell was so bad that we had to stand for half the show until we finally found seats opposite side where we where originally. My wife and i dont drink and not knocking her. We came for a good time and enjoyed the misic.

by Rick on 2/19/23Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

The penns peak venue is excellent and the parking is easy. The staff was friendly. The Winery Dogs put on an amazing show. The three talented musicians captivated the crowd. Eddie Trunk was right next to us and was enjoying the show as much as we were.

Caution - True Musicianship on display

    by j. b. on 6/3/19The Saban - Beverly Hills

I'll keep this short. I have never seen The Winery Dogs before and am only mildly familiar with their music. I am familiar with each musician from other bands and projects though. I was completely blown away! Technically superb, every single song was excellently executed and Ritchie Kotzen's vocals and guitar playing was a pleasure to behold. His vocal range is astounding and he is by far one of the most versatile guitarists of our time! Billy Sheehan is as good if not better than he has EVER been and there is nothing more that can be said about Mike Portnoy that hasn't already been said, he is simply a monster with a metronome for a brain!!
