This was the perfect concert - a blonde invited up on stage to gyrate with the band, a mini Led Zeppelin jam with the opening act (who by the way were the loudest and most personable opening act I've ever seen - maybe that's why they have their own show called "Z rock" on the IFC network) and a venue that was so intimate that you could get sprayed with sweat (you gotta love that! and which begs the question - why does Colin MacDonald where long sleeves and a vest when he gets so hot and sweaty???)
Most of the audience were obvious Trew loyalists (Trew-ists???) - some came across the river from Sarnia and Windsor, some drove across the state from Grand Rapids and most (like me) were from the Detroit area. And then there was my brother who drove TO Wisconsin from Michigan to see them perform during the summer. Hopefully though there were some newbies in the audience who haven't heard The Trews - yet. Those of us who do know them are mind-boggled that their music hasn't crossed over into the elusive and presumably, lucrative States. But having lived outside of Port Huron where I listened to Sarnia's Best Rock - K106.3 - I heard lots of Trews (and Theory of a Dead Man, Default, Wide Mouth Mason and Sam Roberts) and I go to their concerts whenever I can, in fact, last night was my 5th Trews concert (2 in CA and 3 here). And because they are SO good, my other brother came with us last night and now he knows why I talk about The Trews all the time - THEY ROCK!!!
If you want to see a really, really, really great rock show and for a really, really cheap price (Good God - tickets are a freaking $10 each!!!) then GO SEE THE TREWS! They will rock you. You will rock them and you'll make sure you see them again and again.
