I'm originally from Toronto, Canada and have been a huge Hip fan for years. It was unbelivable being able to see them at The Vic. In Canada they fill big venues so this was a real treat. They are a very diverse band with a sound of their own and an hoot of a front man. They have great rock tunes and some really great mellow tunes as well. The musicianship is excellent and the lyrics are interesting to say the least. If you are just discovering The Hip then start off with the following CDs. Let them grow on you, you'll be hooked. Up To Here Road Apples Fully Completely The new CD, We Are The Same, is great as well but much more mellow by comparison. I highly recommend getting into The Hip!
Awesome. High Intensity. Extended 2nd set seemed to go on forever. Gordon was ready to pop one of the veins in his head.
Recently saw the Hip and as usual, they put on an amzing show. The only dissapointment is they will not be back to the Midwest anytime soon.! They are known for their live shows and they did not dissapoint. They played for hours with just the right amount of new and old material and Gord worked the crowd like a master. Don't miss the Hip if you get a chance to see this band!
Great show as usual. My advise when the Hip come to town, don't miss them!
The new album is incredible and, as always, they are the best live show on the face of the earth.
Never in my life have I seen a band perform like these guys. Well maybe Neil Young but that is IT!
The show was amazing. The Hip always put on a great show but this one was fantastic. The Vic was a great venue!
The venue was great and the sound excellent. Gordie was into his hankies too much and they needed to play more early stuff. Too much of the new!!
Another awesome Hip show. Love these guys live. The acoustic set was an awesome addition and it's great to hear some of the old favourites (such as Flamenco and Eldorado) resurface during the show. The new songs from WE ARE THE SAME are incredible and I still am haunted by Gord's voice singing "Now the Struggle Has a Name" and "Depression Suite". An incredible evening...as always!
Really enjoyed this show even though we arrived about 30 minutes late. It was very easy to get in and out of Massy Hall. Seats were on the right balcony so I was worried they wouldn't be good, but they were fantastic!!! We were literally less than 20 feet from the band! The band alternated between songs from their new album with classic songs and it was magic! Every live Tragically Hip show is a gift to be savoured and cherished and remembered for years to come. Thanks guys!
The Tragically Hip rocked Massey Hall in Toronto for a whole week! We attended the Friday May 15th show and were amazed at the band's energy and ability to keep the crowd on their feet for the entire show. They played songs from all their albums so old and young Hip fans enjoyed the concert! I plan on making this an annual event, a weekend in Toronto starting with the Friday night Tragically Hip concert!!!
I have seen The Hip many times, but only once or twice at a venue as intimate as the Troubadour. Still, you would have thought Gord was playing to an Arena -- amazing energy, classic rants -- and the rest of the band certainly kept up with him. After a brief break, they came back with a few amazing acoustic numbers before building the energy back up again. The crowd, filled with plenty of die-hard fans, sang along throughout the show.
