Matt and the crew were technically awesome, with great solos on guitar and piano, but the set list left us bewildered. No problem with the new takes on old songs, but in the beginning he says "this is a dance band" - then after taking a while to get people dancing, he stops the momentum cold with "Soulcatchers." Everybody back in their seat. Love these guys, have all the albums, and saw them on the original Dusk tour, but left this show strangely let down.

Avid fans, like me, were thrilled to The The touring again. Opening act and main show were awesome. Great sound and visuals.

Since last seeing Matt Johnson and company in Cambridge (back in the early 2000's), I had been eagerly anticipating this return for years. It certainly was a triumphant return, at that! The drummer was steadfast and powerful, the bassist kept the groove strong, the keyboardist was steady and true - until the unbelievable solo on "Uncertain Smile", which rivaled the extended cut on the album! The lead guitarist was amazing on so many songs - especially the long riffs on "I've Been Waitin' for Tomorrow (All My Life)". And, as for Matt Johnson, the lead singer has not lost anything! His voice was as smooth and evocative as it ever was. He continues to tell the stories in his songs as if he had just written them yesterday. He was also able to reconnect with this New England audience - most of which hadn't seen him for two decades (or more)! I hope this band will return to the area yet again someday soon. You can bet I will be there!

I love The The, i was fortunate to see them in a crowd of about 50 in Providence RI in 2001. it was the best. i have been a fan since i happened appon a homemade tape someone had left at my house in 1984. but this event at the Orpheum in Boston was a disappointment. it was hot, humid, seats were tight with no leg room and im 5'4". the sound wasnt mixed right either, it wasnt good sound quality.. too bad. i do love The The. and the video running in the backdrop was meaningless and not aesthetically pleasing even though i get it was a lot of footage Matt Johnson's footage it was an un thing. but i do love The The

Got to finally see Matt Johnson (The The) live at the Orpheum in Boston. Fantastic show! He still has a great voice. Only comment was on the sound in the beginning of the first set - I was concerned as it was super muddy and hard to hear. But sound was corrected later in the set. The Orpheum is a gorgeous venue!

Have loved this band for years. SO happy to have finally seen them live. Matt Johnsons’ voice remains strong and emotional. Reworked many of the songs to accomodate a smaller band as well as the lack of Johnny Marr, but still sounded terrific, very exciting!

The the show was a very good show, but the temperature in the venue was at least 90 degrees with no air flow whatsoever, I asked the staff about it and they joked. Again great show, very uncomfortable venue!

The band was great but the Orpheum audio was over amped for both The The and opening act.

They were so tight and played so many hits. The song selection ran the gamut from soft and melancholic to dance and raucous. Matt’s voice is still strong and the new members are brilliant musicians. I loved the show as did the 16 friends who went! Come back please!!

Amazing. Matt Johnson and company put on fantastic show.
