THE TEMPER TRAP IN CONCERT:

Indie darlings the Temper Trap quickly shot to fame in 2008 with their anthemic track "Sweet Disposition", and they haven't slowed down since. The Australian group plays bright, guitar-driven rock with a fervor and energy that always get the crowd pumped up during their live shows. Whether they're performing the track that launched their career or tearing through songs from their 2012 self-titled debut, the Temper Trap always has ticket buyers singing and clapping along on their must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hailing from Down Under, the Temper Trap formed in 2005 when the band members met while working at a Melbourne clothing store. The five-piece played cut their teeth playing local shows, and they quickly attracted attention from blogs and magazines with their electrifying performances. They released their first self-titled EP in 2006 but truly took off in 2008 with their platinum-selling debut Conditions, which featured the Top 20 hit "Sweet Disposition". They continued their mainstream success with their self-titled sophomore LP, which topped the charts in Australia and earned Best Rock Album at the 2012 ARIA Awards. Since then they've opened for major players like Coldplay and the Rolling Stones, appeared at world-renowned festivals like Coachella and Reading and Leeds, and sold out popular venues across the globe. With a strong collection of hits in their repertoire, the Temper Trap is a celebrated act that keeps fans coming out in droves to their exciting shows.

I have liked The Temper Trap for a long time - it was so great to see them here in the USA. But I have to say their live set is just sooooo awesome... if you are on the fence I recommend you go see these guys - they really had the place jumping.

The most mind-blowingly awesome show I have ever been to. The live vocals were, dare I say, even better than the original recordings!!!

Solid show, the crowd wasn't dancing though, lame.

    Temper Trap was FIERCE!

by TemperTrapFan on 3/24/10Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

The Varsity Theatre is a great little venue. The show was sold out, but the Theatre did not feel over crowded. Great bar service and nice remodeling work done upstairs. Temper Trap sounded incredible. Vocals were just outstanding and the emotion behind the music was eminent. I was not incredibly impressed with the lighting. Amazing things were happening on stage, specifically with the drummer, but the lights were in front of the band causing them to be in the shadows. Better lighting would have made this show unforgettable!

    Temper Trap ROCKS!

    by Yogigirl3 on 3/24/10Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

so great.... esp for the price. Not all bands can sound good live and they pull it off. No complaints!

    Both bands were exceptional!

by Marcheta on 3/24/10Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

The Kissaway Trail was surprisingly good! So young, so talented and fun! I look forward to their CD and keeping in the know when they are playing again in the Twin Cities. We moved closer to the stage to be able to better see The Temper Trap, but the sound wasn't as good. We were too close to the loudspeakers, me thinks. Still, the band was astounding! Dougy, the lead singer, has one of the best voices I've heard in a long time and he sings with such soul and ease. The band was solid and so connected with each other. I heard their interview with Mary Lucia on The Current earlier in the evening. They've come far in 5 years. They're gonna be big! The Varsity Theater...what a venue! I know now where I'll plant myself at the next concert. It's very intimate and fun and the staff was cool and friendly. Everything was amazing, 5 stars for all involved!

    Breathtaking...

by channelingDFW on 3/14/10The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

Although the sound engineers were not particularly competent and resulted in often awkwardly leveled music balance, Temper trap was nevertheless amazing. I have rarely seen such emotion and presence in a band, especially the lead singer. He was amazing and even dashed up to the crowd during one particular song. Best of all, their rendition of 'drum song' was breathtaking. If you have not seen it, I do not want to spoil the excitement of it and just urge anybody to go see it. It is definitely worth the experience!

    Unique Live Sound

by lexipie on 3/11/10The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

great venue and sound, but some technical problems made the show rough at times. but over the band had an indescribable live sound you have to hear for yourself.

Aside from the boring and noisy opening band, the main show itself was fantastic! The lead singer has an innate knack for theatricality. Temper Trap is one of those bands that sound better live than recorded.

    2 hit wonder?

by gmmspine on 3/11/10The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

Temper trap is not a great band. They do though have 2 radio friendly hit songs. The rest of their music leaves a whole lot to be desired. It was either too repetitive, or just a bad song. The lead singer's voice is unique, but his range is limited, and often times not in sync with the others in the group. Outside of the 2 hit songs "sweet disposition" and "love lost", this band needs work on cultivating some more diversity.

    The Temper Trap Gig.

by ALivingSoul on 3/11/10The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

The Energy These Aussies Put In Their Performances Is Remarkable. Some People Say They Are Similar To U2, But I Say They Have Their Own Unique Sound. I Took My Kid Sister Along And - For This Being Her First Show - She Absolutely Loved It. She Even Gave Serious Praise To Opening Act "Darker My Love", Who Were Very Good As Well. Great Energy, Great Show, Great Band. Looks As If These Aussie Chaps Are On Their Way To Very Special Things. All The Best To Them. Cheers.

Temper Trap flaunted their sweet disposition

by MissFancy on 3/11/10The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

Most people came to see Temper Trap perform their hit single "sweet disposition" made famous in the movie, 500 days of summer. However, Doogie, impressed everyone with his soothing, falsetto and multitalented skills on the drums and guitar. The setting was simple, but it made the focus solely on the music. The drums thumping and vibrating through the walls and the ground. You couldn't just stand still. You had to bop your head or move your hips or tap the floor with each beat. The band showed everyone that they're more than just sweet... they're severely amusing and gratifying.

Knew the music was good, hadn't realised how much better they were live. Mandagi is the new Freddie Mercury - I hope he takes that as a compliment!

    Temper Trap my <3

by eioeio on 3/11/10The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

Great show, great venue. These guys rocked. Love love LOVE his voice. Too bad they kept having sound issue thru the first half of the show. I don't like watching the singer have to repeatedly tell the sound guys to turn down or up a mic.
