About

To celebrate two decades of 'Give Up' and 'Transatlanticism', The Postal Service & Death Cab for Cutie have joined forces for an unprecedented 20th anniversary co-headline tour. Each night, Benjamin Gibbard, the co-founder of both bands, will pull double duty performing with The Postal Service - comprised of Gibbard, Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis - as well as with Death Cab for Cutie (alongside Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr). The extraordinary live run will see both iconic groups performing their seminal 2003 albums in full.

Seeing the Postal Service was like visiting an old friend and having one of the best nights of your life. They sounded amazing, the vibe at the crowd was perfect. Only complaint was drink prices the Cosmopoltian - greedy, forsure. But after a decade of waiting to see them they did not disappoint. On the other hand, the opening band YACHT was not very good. Besides there underground hit, VooDoo City I found there set to be painful to watch.

    The Postal Service is unforgettable!

by xPoP on 4/21/13The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las Vegas

They put on what could be a once in a lifetime show, and they made sure it is worth-while. This was one of the best shows I have been to! Not to mention that the Chelsea Ballroom was packed full of people, as it was a sold out show. I was EXTREMELY pleasantly surprised by the fact that they were selling tour merch there. By "tour merch", I mean that there was a shirt that had the tour dates on the back. Nearly all of the shows I've been to in the past 3-4 years haven't had that. Of course, they had other shirts as well, which is always great! The show was unforgettable, and I honestly hope that they decide to tour more after this one is over.

Goldenvoice needs to make changes to venue.

by CML13 on 4/18/13The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

I am glad that the music was good. I was so disappointed though that the venue was so packed that I could not see the stage at all. I wish that there was screens in the outdoor bar area, so at least I would have been able to see the band on the stage at least once. And it is not like I am a short person--i'm 5'6", so reasonably I should have been able to see the stage on one of the elevations of the floor area. However, it was not possible because the room was so overpacked.

    The Postal Service killed it!

by LoveMad on 4/18/13The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

Listening to the Postal Service play "Give Up" after waiting for ten years was like dying and going to heaven. Everything about it was perfect from the instruments to the vocals to the lights. Ben never ceases to amaze me.

Finally seeing them perform after 10 years of loyal listening, was incredible. It was more like a spiritual experience for me reliving some old memories. Unforgettable night for sure.

    Disappointed

by zero813 on 4/14/13Mondavi Center UC Davis - Davis

I like the Postal Service, but I'm not the biggest fan. Give Up is a fantastic album, but the new songs they wrote for the 10th anniversary re-release were a bit disappointing. I think the Mondavi Center was a poor choice in venue. The crowd was dead, and I felt like the band was, too. They sounded really good, don't get me wrong, but they didn't surprise me in any way. Their music is pretty soft, not the most energetic stuff out there. The light show could've been better, that would've helped. I thought that maybe they'd take more liberties with their songs, too. Nothing about the concert exceeded my low expectations. If you're a big fan of The Postal Service, go see them in concert. If you only "like" them, then you should pass.

by Caslyn on 4/14/13Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

The show was great! Everything about it! The venue was the perfect size and it was a sold out show. It was my first time seeing them live and I loved every minute of it.

    Great venue, fun show!

by Teatimer on 4/12/13Mondavi Center UC Davis - Davis

I have waited 10 years to see the Postal Service and it was pretty well worth the wait! It was my first time at the Mondavi Center, and I was supremely impressed. I would LOVE to go see all shows at the Mondavi Center. Postal Service was high energy and played all the songs I love. I gave this show a 4/5 because the show was only a little over an hour long which was disappointing. Most shows from such popular bands (especially if they haven't played in a very long time) would be at LEAST 1.5 hours but more like 2 hours.

Decade wait was worth it for Postal Service

by MrHyde66 on 4/12/13Mondavi Center UC Davis - Davis

The Postal Service played their 2nd show in 9 years, and it was well worth the wait. The 16 songs they played were exactly what you would want to hear. It may be another decade before they come again so I would highly recommend catching this show. Not a dull moment so grab your beer and take your squirt before they come on.

    Postal Service is back!

by liquidate on 4/11/13Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

After a *nine year* absence, The Postal Service has returned to play most of the tracks from their Give Up album released 10 years ago. Unfortunately, while the songs were great, they sounded just like the album. For some this might be a good thing, but I was hoping they'd switch it up a bit. I enjoyed hearing the new material, but after so many years of listening to Give Up I would have appreciated a new spin to some of the songs. Imagine if they'd have done Iron Wine's version of Such Great Heights... I also wish they'd have interacted a bit more with the audience, but I prefer more personable performers. The room at GSR was ok. It was actually pretty nice seating until a group of 8 people or so decided to come stand in front of our table just minutes before the show was about to start. No view of the stage for the rest of the show was a bummer. We were seated in a booth, so unless we wanted to further clog to isle there wasn't anything we could do. Getting up to use the restroom I noticed that this wasn't the case for most of the other seating, so just bad (and rude) luck in our case.

    10 years later...

by Blow83 on 4/11/13Summit Pavillion GSR - Reno

I never really thought I would ever see The Postal Service live again. 10 years ago a buddy of mine turned me on to "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" and I was hooked. I few months and countless listening hours later I saw The Postal Service perform at the Bluebird in Denver and this folks was the night these guys became my favorite band of all time. Seeing them again this past Tuesday night was so incredible. It was like seeing old friends and catching up. Hearing all these songs live again brought back a lot of memories. I am so thankful to have had the chance to experience the trueness and purity of The Postal Service's lyrics and music. YOU GUYS ARE DOING IT!
