Just lovely.

Whether they're calmly singing fan favorites like “A Maker of My Time” or new tracks like “St. Clarity” from 2013’s States, the Paper Kites fuse lush harmonies with intricate banjo licks and strong percussion at their intimate live shows. The band has toured around the world and continues to delight fans with their incredible musicianship and beautiful tunes on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Hailing from Melbourne, the Paper Kites formed in 2009 by high school friends Sam Bentley and Christina Lacey. After performing locally, the duo expanded their band into a five-piece and began to play festivals. Over the next few years the Paper Kites released three EPs that featured popular tracks like “Bloom” and “Featherstone”, earning the band mainstream media attention for their warm harmonies and strong folk sound. They embarked on several supporting tours alongside Boy & Bear, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Passenger and continued to grow their fanbase around the world. The release of the band’s highly acclaimed 2013 debut LP States brought widespread critical praise and launched a string of sold-out headlining shows around their native Australia. A promising new talent, the Paper Kites show no signs of slowing down as they continue to deliver their folk-filled tunes to eager fans on their thrilling tours.

I am only 5'5"and my daughter only 5'2"and the seats at the Wilber Theater in Boston are startlingly cramped- even for us. I saw taller attendees having to spread their legs wide to even clear their knees. I can't imagine the people on either side appreciated the intrusion. They always got up at any opportunity. The theater should figure a way to redo the seating to better accommodate attendees in a reasonable way. The band was fabulous and the acoustics were perfect, but the seats are not good.
The show was suppose to be at 8h, but they showed up at 9h.. for me its disrespectful.. we arrive early to be sure to have a nice place, 7:20. So we wait 1:40 to see them. Without a place to sit, its very long. Very disappointed.
Had a great time and we were able to sit down. Sound was great, both artists were great. It was great.
Was a lovely concert experience, very relaxing and soothing, lovely harmonies! The seats were very comfortable, would recommend seeing them - very solo concert goer friendly!
The Paper Kites have been on my playlists since middle school. I was blown away by their performance. This band used a variety of instruments and vocal techniques to captivate the audience. They’re just as good in person than on their recorded tracks. I am already looking forward to their return to Toronto.
The Paper Kites were so good live, they were funny and played beautifully. I traveled all the way from Utah to see them in California and it was worth every penny and every hour driving. Bre Kennedy was amazing as well, she fit their vibe perfectly. Everything was great from the venue to the crowd.
This is the 4th time I have seen The Paper Kites in Concert and I believe I prefer them in the smaller venue. BTW it always astonishes me that their Concerts aren't more attended. The venue was fine located a hop-skip-& a jump from DTLA (7 minutes away TOPS) parking lot across the street $25.00 residential parking in the neighborhood and we went on a Saturday night so it was best to park where we could. Bre Kennedy opened for the Kites she had a pleasant voice. There was a fair balance of acapella and songs played in their studio format all the original members were there and this was the final concert on the North America tour. Merchandise was limited. I heard that the drinks weren't potent at all but I can tell you THIS... the door staff were incredibly nice and courteous. Lighting was perfect, sound was AWESOME Sam has such a distinct voice ... they all do and harmonize so well. I tell you it's like you are sitting in your living room with the pods in your ears listening to him in concert. Air conditioning kept us all cool. They only played a few older songs like maybe 4 in a 14 song set. They stopped promptly when they were supposed to only 1 encore as the Teregram had a late concert after the Kites performed. Respectfully Reviewed
Paper Kites are so artistic and are very passionate about their work. Love to see them perform. I will be seeing them every single chance they’re in LA.
I loved this concert and how connected I felt with the band throughout the show. They would often interact with the crowd and it was quite nice. I also loved how they played all my favourite songs!! Highly recommend seeing them live.
We love The Paper Kites, have followed them for years, and we were thrilled they came back to the States for this tour. We booked the Somerville Show in Cambridge over the NYC show as we prefer Boston. Everything was perfect up until the point the sound system stopped working. The band was playing its final song before leaving the stage and returning for the encore, when mid-song, the sound went out. The band finished playing the song although we couldn't hear a thing, and then left the stage. They did return for an acoustic song and then said goodnight. Stuff like this happens, and unfortunately we were at a show where it did. We were bummed we didn't hear our favorite song Give Me Your Fire, Give Me Your Rain, which they close all their shows with, but we really loved seeing them again and look forward to when the return. An explanation of some kind from the venue would have been helpful.
Second time I've been to a Paper Kites show and I always leave in a special state of mind! They sound amazing and go above and beyond to show their appreciation to their fans!
Tall Heights is an unassuming and magical group. Their concert brought tears to my eyes, and though I was also excited for the Paper Kites, I was devastated when they left the stage. They are funny, humble, and make wonderful music. One thing that differentiates them from other groups of their kind is the talent and training of their cellist. You can tell they respect their fans, and they are the only modern group that I have ever confidently proclaimed was my favorite. A fan of 70s folk, this is the only modern group that has albums that I enjoy listening to all the way through.
The sound at House of Blues was excellent. The seated concert was refreshing and the event staff was courteous and professional. Both acts the Paper Kites and Tall Heights put on amazing well produced sets.
Sound was FANTASTIC! and Paper Kites music was... soul smiling-breathtaking beautiful. They only sang 6 songs mainly from TwelveFour with the exception of 'Bloom' but if you haven't heard their newest CD listen to it I adore it. Most of the people who were in attendance were there for Passenger and weren't familiar with Paper Kites. I didn't see PK listed anywhere on the marquis ={ so after their set I pretty much went downstairs grabbed a copy of the new CD (for my daughter) bought a T-shirt (so that others would know WHO "I" was there to see) and listened to 2 Passenger song then bounced.
Great show, great sound, nice venues....the Paper Kites are amazing performers! Not a rock concert, but definitely music you can jam to. By far my favorite band
Absolutely memorable night; just an incredible act.
Paper Kites put on a great show! The venue was great. Professional performance.
The Paper Kites at the Music Hall of Williamsburg was well worth the trek. Great venue, and their setlist was on point. They are amazing live, and Sam Bently was incredibly affable in his interaction with the audience. I would definitely catch them again.
AMAZING show that everyone should see! Great band that really made the experience personal and interactive! They sounded even better in person and it was everything I hoped it would be and more!
