About

THE ORIGINAL WAILERS IN CONCERT:

The Original Wailers continue to do Bob Marley proud, nearly 25 years after his untimely death. During his time with Marley in the '70s, the Original Wailers' Al Anderson practically wrote the book on roots rock reggae, which is why it's no surprise that he's still jamming in 2014. Performing classics like "Get Up, Stand Up" and "No Woman, No Cry" on tour in 2013, the Wailers had fans feeling irie and lighters held high, setting big expectations for another round of good vibes on the road in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Following Bob Marley's death in 1981, Al Anderson, Marley's lead guitarist from his solo work in '70s, formed the Original Wailers to pay tribute to reggae's most beloved icon. As the vocalist on iconic tracks like "No Woman, No Cry," Anderson helped propel the Wailers to international fame, continuing to work extensively with Marley throughout the decade. In 2012, the Original Wailers released their first-ever EP of new material, earning a Grammy nomination and kicking off a headlining tour. The band continues to keep Bob Marley's music and legacy alive, treating fans to another US tour in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Top Grade Reggae, T.O.W. are incredible, talk is cheap, just get to a show, then you will understand why they are the best."

"Great to see Al hitting those sweet notes on some classic Bob Marley songs. Tight band, good rhythm, fun time, long encore."

"It was a wonderful show with lots of old school reggae tunes, but what I liked more was the original music from the current band. They came alive when they played their own tunes...it was really fun!"

    The Original Wailers were Phenomenal

by Froggiecam on 4/7/14Inlet Beach Bar and Grille - Fort Pierce

I have been following Bob Marley and the Wailers ever since I learned that my cousin Al Anderson started playing with the Band in the 70's. The performance was excellent. The relaxed venue at Inlet Beach Bar and Grille was perfect for the show. This is a band that really gets the crowd going and everyone knows the lyrics to all the songs and enjoyed singing along. If you have never seen the Wailers, you should make an opportunity to do so soon.

    Not what I was expecting

    by Pita05 on 4/6/14Capt. Hiram's - Sebastian

The Wailers were scheduled to start at 7:30......they didn't take the stage until 9:15. Though they played the songs I expected, they were much more electronic and modernized. They sounded decent, but I just thought it would be the typical reggae of Bob Marley. A bit of a disappointment.

    Fantastic experience!

by SANDRA66 on 8/30/13B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

The Original Wailers fit their name, as their sound is still as awesome as in the beginning (minus Bob Marley, of course). Invited guitarist Douglas Allen also added to the fun, as his playing is always incredible.

    Alright show. Alright venue.

    by Sparkle222 on 8/21/13Howard Theatre - Washington

Being a huge reggae & bob marley fan and having seen the wailers last year, I was very much looking forward to this show. I was also excited to go to a venue with comfortable seating since I'm 6 months pregnant. The Howard theater is nice. Very clean & inviting. We arrived about a half hour early & saw several empty tables but we were told every single one was reserved. As we got drinks at the bar, I noticed they were seating everyone else, which totally annoyed me. After the show started I asked again to be seated (now there were only 2-3 empty tables) and again was told they were reserved. These tables remained empty the rest of the night. Seems to me like you would allow a pregnant woman to sit rather than have empty tables.... The opening act (I can't remember the name) was very good. Upbeat & fun. The Orginial Wailers were good. They played a few bob marley songs & several of their own. I expected a little more Bob. As mentioned above, I saw the wailers last year at a different venue & thought that show was a lot better. All in all the show was alright. I would give it only 2 stars based on venue but the show helped it barley to 3 stars.

    Not what we thought

by JaySea1978 on 8/20/13B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

We were disappointed. We expected o hear all the the Bob Marley classics but instead all they played was their original music. (BUMMER).

    Better luck next time...

Unfortunately, The Wailers left us unmoved. Music did not stir it up...lift our souls. We left before it was over.

This was a good show, but the main band, The Original Wailers, started too late--after 10:30.

    The Original Wailers Concert

by Born2see on 6/1/13Abacoa Town Center Amphitheatre - Jupiter

Great concert but didn't think 3 hours of pre bands was necessary.

    Not very good 4/10

by Godmatley on 5/29/13Abacoa Town Center Amphitheatre - Jupiter

I give only 4 because it was not what I expected from the original wailers. First thing, I was in an appartement a the third floo, and I could see everything te sound was good, but when I went down to watch with people the sound was bad not clear and some echoes. Second, the atmosphere was not fun. People were juste standing and watching. Nobody ea dancing or in the mood of concert. It was more like a little show. The last bad thing, and the worst, was the music. I came to listen raggea music. NOT ROCK!! We heard only 4-5 songs at the beginning (between 4pm and 4:30) And nothing until 7pm. We stood at the appartement at that moment instead of stayin in the sun suffering and listening music that we didn't want to hear. ( even if it was good rock)

What can I say. The Original Wailers!

by B4UC on 5/29/13Abacoa Town Center Amphitheatre - Jupiter

The entry was very slow. Only 2 lines and they were selling tickets in both. They should have had lines for people that had already purchased tickets. Then only 6 port o lets. But other than that the event was excellent. The opening act Beebs and her money makers were tight and had an excellent stage presence. Very entertaining. The sound system was superb. The original Wailers were also very entertaining. I'm sorry, but they should have played nothing but Bobs music. There original music sounded sorta like Bobs anyways. But still an excellent show . Thanks

I felt like the artists sang at us rather than performed the songs. They did not create an inviting atmosphere; however, Antero was pretty good and better than the main act.

great experience to be with some originals

    by Jah143 on 11/26/10Showcase Live - Foxboro

I am so grateful to have a close venue like Showcase Live that can attract acts like The Original Wailers. It was a wonderful show with lots of old school reggae tunes, but what I liked more was the original music from the current band. They came alive when they played their own tunes...it was really fun!
