THE OFFSPRING IN CONCERT:

One of the most famous punk bands of all time, The Offspring are still igniting audiences with their explosive live shows. In concert the band delivers impassioned performances of audience favorites like “Come Out and Play”, “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)”, and “Gone Away”. With spitfire drums, catchy basslines, and distorted guitars, the band blasts their way through their songs with an adrenaline-fueled blend of polished musicianship and devil-may-care attitude. Coming off their hugely successful Smash: 20th Anniversary Tour, the group is keeping their hot streak alive by bringing their incendiary live shows to audiences around the world.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Offspring formed in 1986 in Huntington Beach, CA with original members Dexter Holland (vocals/guitar), Greg K. (bass), and Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman (lead guitar). Behind the strength of hit singles “Come Out and Play”, “Self Esteem”, and “Gotta Get Away” the band’s 1994 breakthrough album Smash launched them to international superstardom. They followed up in 1997 with the platinum-certified Ixnay on the Hombre, adding the hits “All I Want” and “Gone Away” to their impressive catalog. Their eclectic 1998 album Americana proved that they were one of the era’s most potent and versatile hit-making machines with the serious tone of megahit “The Kids Aren’t Alright”, which stood in stark contrast to humorous singles like “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)” and “Why Don’t You Get a Job”. Since then the band has continued to record and release material, including the double-platinum Conspiracy of One in 2000. While working on a follow up to their 2012 album Days Go By, The Offspring continues to bring their music to legions of fans worldwide.

offspring good, openers and prices meh

by aschaffer on 7/8/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

First time seeing the offspring. They had a lot of energy the show was sold out. There was 2 opeeners and they weren't the typical genre for offspring. So it was a drag. Offspring was super good tho. I'm not the biggest fan but they play w a lot of energy and the singer played the peanuts theme song on the piano. My personal highlight of the nite. Their ticket price was a lot of money for a small venue. And the tshirts were also very pricy.

    Dissapointment

by buffaloamy on 7/6/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

Drove from Buffalo with 2 teens for their first concert. The Offspring DISAPPOINTED in a huge way. Set too short , with too many breaks...shortest featured act I have ever seen in 30 years of concerts I tried not to let the kids know they just got screwed, but they heard talk from others in the hotel we stayed at. The Band just didnt seem to want to be there . Dropkick Murphys were rockin, The first guy seemed a superflous addition to kill time- time Offspring should have played. And so many peop[le came out to see them despite lousey weather - that should have made them play all the harder for their fans who support them-literally- all these years.

    Dropkick & Offspring, enough said!

by Vanuh on 7/5/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

The energy at the show was amazing. all elements of the performance, such as lighting, special effects, and music of course, were in sync with each other creating perfect harmony and an ideal atmosphere for the music that tempted all ears'. This show was a moment in my memory and assumed, many others as well.

    Offspring was awesome

by Stewy on 7/4/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

I'm going to make this short and sweet. I don't remember the name of the guy who opened, and honestly his name isn't worth remembering because the music was nothing special. I was a little disappointed by Dropkick Murphys. I've seen them at smaller venues and they were fantastic. Either they were just off their game or they weren't used to a larger crowd, because they were not very good either this time around. Offspring was really the saving grace. They played a majority of their newer stuff and mixed in a lot of their older stuff too. Honestly the only song I didn't hear that I would have liked to was Original Prankster, but considering how many of their songs I wanted to hear and how many they actually played, I was very happy with them. They even threw in a little comedy and entertainment to try to get the crowd going. I would highly recommend seeing them if you get the chance, especially if you can find them playing with some better bands opening for them. So yeah, that's my two cents!

    The Offspring Were A-M-and-Azing

by scrubber10302 on 7/3/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

The opening act: Frank Turner was entertaining, I think he's got some real potential, especially with the unique style of his. As for the second act: Dropkick Murphys, they were just overpoweringly loud- I did not enjoy that part of the show in the least. But, the Offspring rocked! I loved the way Dexter played "Gone Away" on piano, and Noodles was hilarious throughout the night.

by sackboy on 7/3/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

I had super close seats and the energy was high for both the Dropkick Murphys and The Offspring. I had a super time and they put on a heck of a show.

Dropkick Murphy's + The Offspring= The best show

by RandomRican on 7/2/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

They played majority of their hits along with their new releases. The only thing that was bad was CMAC's parking price $10 dollars.

Dropkick Murphy's & Offspring were a good combo!

by rnlg on 7/2/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

Took my son for his birthday...not exactly my kind of music, but enjoyed the show. Had not been to CMAC in several years and really liked the venue! Parking was a breeze and getting out in a timely manner was the best!

    Offspring are still my favorite

by youneedapen on 7/2/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

The Offspring concert was great! They are still my favorite band after all these years. They are hilarious and entertaining and have a great variety of songs that will not let anyone be bored. The only things is I wish they would'de played for a little longer--there are so many good songs, I would've liked to hear a few more.

Really only went to see Dropkick

by ABEB on 7/1/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

Didn't stay for Offspring - we're not fans. We only went for Dropkick Murphys and they were great! Thought the crowd was a little subdued, but whatever... we had fun. Would've liked to see them play a little longer considering it was their last night on tour before heading off to Europe.

Offspring is a little past their prime

by Sean on 7/1/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

The show was good, the venue was good. I did not understand what tickets i bought apparently, there is general admission in a middle section, but no seats in it. Dexter seemed a little slow moving aroudn the stage when he only had a mic, but when he had the guitar it looked mroe natural. The songs all sounded great, for some reason there just seemed to be a small lack of energy, i think it is a lot of people who did not know the back catalog. Dropkick murphys were great, but again 90% of the crowd had not heard anything before blackout.

    Good show, despite weather.

by CDubb on 7/1/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

What I caught of the opener was decent, though not my thing really. Dropkick Murphys played some great tunes from their entire catalog (Do or Die right up to Meanest of Times.) The State Of Mass was the highlight of the DKM set for me. I really attended primarily to see DKM, but stayed for some of Offspring. I'm glad I did. The tour is in support of Offspring's new album ("Rise and Fall Rage and Grace" if I remember correctly) so I fully expected to hear alot from that album. I was happily surprised when the second song they played was "Bad Habit", and they continued to pepper in tracks from throughout their catalog. I was not overly impressed by the general seating at CMAC in Canandaigua. The only general seating is on the lawn which is behind all of the normal seating. There really isn't a good pit to be had. What is a punk show without a pit? Also, the lawn in back is on a very steep hill. The whole show, I felt like I could just fall forward and roll down the hill at any moment. The bands were great, but I'd recommend seeing them at another venue. The rain didn't help, though I do realize that the venue can't control the weather. All in all, it was still a very good show.
