  • New master sounds late night New years

by Scotty B on 1/3/20Gramercy Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

The theater is really great.the staff was fantastic The band was on fire. But the rub was that something was just a bit off with the sound, don't get me wrong. The sound was good just not great. I don't know if it was the engineer or the sound system itself.. But we had a great time!!

  • World Class Musician s

by Murdawg on 10/19/19Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

What can i say but The Brits do it better when it comes to jazz fusion funk!! Pepper in our local hero Freekbass for a song or two and we had our selves a perfect 10. Cheers fellas!

  • Awesome show

by Craig on 10/19/19Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

The musicians in this band are unbelievable. They get rolling on some fast swinging grooves that are so much fun to watch and listen to. If you haven’t heard them, watch a YouTube and then multiply by 2 for the live experience. Now on my list of “never miss” bands. Highly recommend.

  • Great band at a great venue

by Lark on 5/18/19Aura - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The New Mastersounds brought their blend of funk and soul to Aura on May 15. If you can sit still during their tunes, you must be in a coma! They rocked the house, segueing seamlessly from funk to R&B to jazz to soul and back again. Lamar Williams Jr.'s vocals were incredible. I'd never seen him before, but he made me a fan in just one evening. A highlight of the show was when saxophonist Cory Schectman (of The New Motif) joined them onstage and proceeded to blow the house down! You could practically see the energy bouncing between Schectman and guitarist Eddie Roberts. Aura is a great venue in downtown Portland, with your choice of an open floor in front of the band and comfy seats in the balcony. Sight-wise and acoustically, there's not a bad seat in the house. The vibe is pretty intimate, even though the venue can hold 1,000 people. Parking is easy, with a lot/garage right next door. Staff is pleasant and efficient and drinks are available. Definitely worth checking out!

  • New Mastersounds tore it up!

by Gwaps on 6/19/18The Wonder Bar - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Caught New Mastersounds for the very first time last Thursday at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. For those who don't know it, Wonder Bar is a small venue across from the beach on the Jersey shore. The band was on point from start to finish, whipping the room into a frenzy on multiple occasions with jams to delight the senses. All four bandmembers are incredible musicians, but I especially enjoyed Joe's keyboard playing, which are showcased in this jazz-funk quartet. I can't wait to see them again when they come through the NYC area.

  • Groovy!

Took the train downtown; first time at this venue; loved it!!

  • New Mastersounds, deep funk delight

by Turkeyfunk on 11/4/17Teragram Ballroom - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Great show with Kung Fu opening with some tasty licks of their own. The New Mastersounds knocked it out of the Park with their fantastic funk play that sounds better live than on any of my albums. Better than expected at a cool venue that was very tidy, has a nice bar, clean restrooms, and unbelievable sound quality. Such a fun night!!

This was a great show, performed by truly professional musicians.

  • Do not miss the opening band!

by BisquickMcBob on 11/21/16Neptune Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

You already know and love the New Mastersounds, and their show was exactly what you would expect. Solid, tight, well played, good guests, good energy. You know them. You love them. 'Nuff said. The real surprise was that Turquaz put on one hell of a show. Costumes and pizzazz, every player nailing their part in a phat 8-piece funk orchestra where even the backup singers had their stuff DOWN. I wasn't impressed by their recorded music, so their live show was an absolutely shocking throw down. I never saw it coming. They tore the roof off the joint. So show up early for this one. The opener is a must see act. And then you get the New Freakin' Mastersounds! Win!

  • New Mastersounds -- supremely talented!

    by Lovie518 on 10/27/16Jannus Live - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5

I cant recall enjoying a night of live music as much as I did last Saturday night at Jannus Live with the New Mastersounds. Ticketmaster emailed the weekly line up including this show; I was intrigued by the name so I did a little surfing on YouTube and came across the 2014 show in Asheville, NC. I immediately bought my ticket! I was thoroughly impressed by the talent and camaraderie among the members...if you have an opportunity to catch these guys, you will NOT be disappointed!

  • New mastersounds were Masterclass

by Masterfan5 on 8/7/16The Wonder Bar - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first of 2 New Mastersounds shows I was fortunate enogh to catch back to back. As usual it ended up being a 2 plus hour dance fest garnished with a wide array of tunes from a number of albums. Left me wanting more as usual.

  • New Mastersounds delivered non-stop tight grooves

by RBdrumbeat on 10/5/15Teragram Ballroom - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing the New Mastersounds after hearing about their 2 am gigs in New Orleans. The band delivered a funkified 4 piece of non stop grooves, clever phrasing, satisfying syncopation and a self acknowledged lack of singing. For lovers of the funk, New Mastersounds bring it all. Special shoutout to the new Teragram Ballroom. First show there for me, and a really good, smaller, standing room venue.

Great show! Been listening for years but never had a chance to see them. I would highly recommend!

  • TNM has it going on!

by Nigelplans on 9/6/14Tralf - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

Fresh twist on a classic sound. All well-orchestrated jams, fluid chord progressions, never missed a beat. I hated knowing that the show had to end.

  • New Mastersounds

by Anonymous on 5/6/14House of Blues New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

The New Mastersounds were amazing on Saturday. They are very talented musicians and the sit-ins were great. They played until almost 5:30 am! I was super pleased with the overall experience, it was my favorite concert of the 12 that I saw during a 5 day trip to New Orleans.

  • High energy show all the way through

  • by Anonymous on 5/6/13House of Blues New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

These guys bring the action from the first note to the last. Starting at 2 AM every year at jazz fest to round out the second weekends nights is the way to do it! Can't wait for next year!

  • by Anonymous on 11/22/11Royale Boston - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Great event - Soul Rebels should come up to Boston more often!

  • The New Mastershounds rocked again

by Nejimakidori on 11/22/11Royale Boston - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

The band was awesome as usual, but the show ended way too early. We didn't get there until 10 since the band didn't come out until late at the last show we saw in Boston. I guess we missed most of the show. The band tried to come out for an encore, but the venue didn't let them. Maybe they should play at the Paradise instead next time.
