A Ringing Endorsement
by Jo/e on 10/28/23recordBar - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5Holy. Lord. I have not been to a concert this loud in years. This was not fun loud. This was painful loud. Whoever the sound tech was needed to check in on the crowd because good god it was almost unbearable. So loud, in fact, that the lead singer’s mic was actually clipping and we were missing entire syllables of the words he was singing. The music was a wall of indistinguishable sound rather than a good mix of each instrument and voice. I have no clue if the venue or the band was in charge of the sound, but SHEESH my ears were literally ringing for two days. Considered leaving halfway through the set.
BUT I’m glad we didn’t because…
That said, the band did an AMAZING job. They put on such an incredible show! We’ve been listening to The National Parks for almost a decade now, and it was awesome to see them perform a full set instead of just opening. Their energy is awesome, and when they came down into the crowd to play the acoustic set, I almost lost my mind. Such a cool concept! We watched them open for Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors last year and were blown away by what a good show they put on. We were delighted that the band played all of our favorites, and we loved getting a sneak peek of their next album at the end of the set! We hope they come back to KC and do another show! We will absolutely be there.
