MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET ON TOUR:
Hot on the heels of its Broadway run, rock and roll musical Million Dollar Quartet is on the road to tell the story of the fateful meeting between Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash at an impromptu jam session in December of 1956. The musical focuses on these newcomers before they became icons, gathered for a rare collaboration at Sun Studios in Memphis. The cast brilliantly portrays the original performers while playing each timeless track with perfection and ease. Million Dollar Quartet will have fans all shook up this summer with their red-hot 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Million Dollar Quartet tells the story of four Southern rock legends who unexpectedly came together in 1956 for a very spontaneous recording session at Sun Studios. Since its 2007 premiere, the electrifying production has graced theaters across the US, landing on Broadway in 2010 for an acclaimed year-long run. Nominated for three Tony Awards including Best Musical, Million Dollar Quartet transports audiences back in time to the golden age of rock and roll with an iconic collection of hits that will leave fans feeling like a million bucks.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
“This was an excellent presentation - fun, upbeat, completely a blast! The cast was full of excitement. I laughed and sang along the whole time, and I ended up on my feet with the rest of the audience, clapping and dancing. If you want a fun and lighthearted night out, go see Million Dollar Quartet!”
“This was a fantastic show! The music, the stage, the acting — all were wonderful! I wasn't bored once and all of the actors were awesome!”
“I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It was a great story played out extremely well by the cast. The performers were great in their roles and some of them were truly outstanding musical talents. We had an enjoyable evening and would recommend this show to everyone.”
Absolutely Outstanding. I’ve attended several Million Dollar Quartets venues, and the cast was one of the best I’ve seen. Great music and story.
The retelling of the Dec 1956 night at Sun Studios in Memphis TN is truly mesmerizing! The show is filled with historical tidbits and wonderful music. The players who portray Johnny, Carl, Jerry and Elvis magically convince the audience and take us back in time! I’d see it again and again!
The amount of talent on the stage was unbelievable! The looks, sound, and mannerisms of the artists they portrayed was spot on! We loved it!!
The million dollar quartet is a broadway play that has nothing to do with Christmas. This was advertised as “ The Million Dollar Quartet “. False advertising! This was NOT the Broadway play. I was disappointed because I paid a good price to see this play. Brought my children to see it thinking it was the Broadway play.
Amazing show by this cast. Each member was spot on with their portrayal of the Million Dollar Quartet. My favorite was Johnny Cash…the actor did an incredible job impersonating the iconic musician. They all were great but this one stood out to me because I am a big JC fan. Music was great and the story was fun.
An superb re-telling of the "other" story of the Million Dollar Quartet. The actors were perfectly cast, and their musical ability was unbelievable. Recommended for adults of all ages.
Talk about a fabulous show, this fits the bill! Each of the actors was spot on playing his character, and it was incredibly energetic. They wove the story well in the original script of Million Dollar Quartet. It’s a must see! Too bad it was here for only 1 performance.
I've waited years to see MDQ, and this holiday show was exactly what I hoped to see! The theatre was so pretty, and the cast was perfect.
Evis was just like Elvis with the shaking. Learned a bit more about Jerry Lee Lewis. Really captured Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins
My wife dropped her elderly mom and I off as the show was starting and the staff was amazing !! We were all helped to our seats by courteous and professional people. The show itself was the Best !!! We all had so much fun for the next hour and a half !! We were helped out of the theater with the same courtesy and professionalism as we got coming in. The GENESEE theater is a diamond in the rough !! I look forward to seeing more shows in the future.
From the moment it started until the last note it was a fun filled show. Costumes, cast selections gave it the look and feel of the genuine characters. Elvis’s girlfriend was very sexy but not too revealing, which showed class. After seeing the Elvis movie the comments about his new manager made a lot of sense. Highly recommend seeing this fun show
I have seen this before but not the Christmas show. It was a great performance
This was not the original, this was a very disappointing Christmas show.
The show was fantastic! The actor/singers were so talented !! I enjoyed every minuet!
Great show - well performed, very energetic, funny at times, met all expectations
This was my 3rd time seeing this show - the music and talent were great!
We had great seats, the music was very good. Jerry LeeLewis, Johnny Cash & Elvis singers were great singers, voices so much like the originals!
This was the 3rd time I had seen this performance and this one was good though I thought the Johnny Cash performer did not look like or sound like the real Johnny Cash . The music was good and Elvis moves were very like the original Elvis though his singing was only fair. Also arena was smoky for a long time??? The temperature was too cold.
If you have heard the names Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins then you need to see this show. Even if you have taken a Sun Records Studio Tour this show gives a great glimpse into how the recording industry worked, how they fought to bring rock'n'roll to life and the impact that Sam Phillips had on the music of today. It does however skip over the role of his secretary in the storyline. Still a great show and great casting to find talented artists that respect and honor the classics. I have wanted to see this since I toom the tour of the stiludio in Memphis and was thrilled it was coming near. My mother who grew up listening to this did not know the story and loved it she said time flew by it was so entertaining. Definitely recommend checking it out.
This is a great show for all ages. We took my mother who is 83 and my wife and I are in our fifties we all enjoyed it. It brought my mother back some fond memories of her youth. I have a much better appreciation for those artists now.
