    Phenomenal!!

by Acurob on 3/14/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

In the 46 years that these three (Cannata, Javors, and DeVito) have been playing together, they’ve only gotten better!! The other four band members are consummate professionals, especially Dan Orlando, who reminds one of a young (and much taller) Billy Joel. This is NOT a tribute band; they are the real thing. Don’t miss them…

The Lords of 52nd Street ROCK!

by GW on 3/14/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

The “Lords of 52nd Street” Liberty, Richie, and Russell are the heart and soul of Billy Joel’s music. They have assembled a band that has the energy and drive that Billy had back in the day. Lead vocalist, Dan Orlando was phenomenal, bringing back the youthful energy Billy had on Turnstiles, Glass Houses and The Nylon Curtain, etc. You won’t regret it!

The Lords of 52nd St. at The Parker (Ft. Lauderdale)

by Oh!Marko! on 3/14/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

As long time Billy Joel fan (1st concert Jan. '74) having the opportunity to see his core band in intimate venues has been a treat for me. Russ Javors (guitar), Richie Canata (Sax, clarinet & keyboards) and Liberty DeVitto (percussion) with with Billy for some 25 years. The unfortunate passing of Doug Stegmeyer (bass) left incomplete the true core of the band following the breakups. In their mid 70's, these three still bring the intensity along with a very personal and heartfelt performance. I was enthralled by Richie Canata's artistry. Being in the front row directly in front of him was a big plus in the ability to appreciate what he does and how well he does it. Liberty DeVitto is one of the hardest hitting and creative percussionists I've ever had the pleasure to watch and listen to. At 74, it amazes me where he gets the strength and passion to deliver what he does. Russ Javors' guitar was very subdued in the mix and it was disappointing to have not heard his music evenly blend with the other instruments. The large majority of songs came from Turnstiles and The Stranger. "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" got the crown up, whistling and singing from beginning to end. The resonance from the NY and NY-FL crowd was unmistakable. As always, the guys came out front after the show and signed photos (that they provided free of charge) albums (mine too), took photos and hobnobbed with the fans. Kudos to Dan Orlando who assumes the "Billy Joel" role. Large shoes and fingerprints to fill. He actually reminded me of a young Frankie Valli (voice and persona) and it took a bit of getting used to after having seen the band with Dave Clark who was also great behind the ivories. Don't pass up a chance to see this band of the opportunity presents itself.

This band is so tight and talented! The 3 original players still got “It” and the piano player is amazing. He has a great voice too!

A much experience if you are a Billy Joel fan

by julian on 3/14/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

The musicians were exceptional, the performance riveting and thoroughly enjoyable. Surprised to see that the venue was 1/2 - 2/3 rds full. Better advertising would have solved this, in my opinion.

Lords of 52nd Street are the Billy Joel band the music was pure and the original members of the band certainly picked the right musicians and voices to make the sound alive and Would say you have to see this group at least once to hear how they made Billy Joel's music what it is today.

The Real Band Blows Away the Karaoke Version

    by jferry2 on 6/6/19F.M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

If you have a choice between seeing Billy Joel in a stadium or the Lords of 52nd Street in a theater with a couple hundred seats, it's no contest at all: go see the Lords. No one compares to Liberty DeVitto on drums. If you want the real deal, with all the energy you remember from seeing Billy Joel in the 70s and 80s, this is the show to see. "But what about the vocals?" Glad you asked. Dave Clark just absolutely nails it. He sounds more like Billy Joel than Billy Joel does. If you want to be able to say you saw Billy Joel play live, then sure, go see Billy and his Karaoke Band. But if you want to HEAR and FEEL the music the way you remember it, then it's got to be the Lords.

This was a terrific show in a beautiful theatre. The music as great. I would definitely see them again since the price was reasonable, good music, & close to home.
