About

The Kooks in Concert

Formed in Brighton in 2004, The Kooks achieved mainstream commercial success almost immediately. Taking their name from the title of a David Bowie song, The Kooks signed to the Virgin Records label in 2005 and have not looked back since, enjoying Top 10 singles, No. 1 hit albums and a number of awards along the way.

Influenced by the music of artists such as The Police, The Strokes and The Rolling Stones, friends Luke Pritchard, Hugh Harris, Max Rafferty and Paul Garred formed The Kooks while at Brighton Music College. Just a few months after forming, the band was offered a recording contract with Virgin. The resulting debut album, Inside In/Inside Out, was an immediate smash hit in 2006, reaching No. 2 in the UK album chart, achieving platinum status in both the UK and Ireland, and winning many fans in the US. In 2008, The Kooks returned with another hit album Konk, featuring the tracks “Shine On” and “Always Where I Need to Be.” The Kooks embarked on an extensive tour to help promote the album. The third album from The Kooks, Junk of the Heart, was released in late 2011.

The commercial success of The Kooks has been matched with critical plaudits from their peers and the music industry. The single “She Moves in Her Own Way” was nominated for a BRIT Award in 2007. In 2006, The Kooks were crowned Best UK and Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. That same year the band also picked up the UK Festival Award for Best Breakthrough Act. In addition to these wins, The Kooks have also been nominated on a number of occasions for both Q Awards and NME Awards.

    Better Than Expected

by CCHERRE on 3/21/24Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

Got there right when The Vaccines started & were pleasantly surprised. Lots of energy & fun songs to sing along to. Been a fan of The Kooks since shortly after the release of one of the best albums of all-time & to hear them play all those songs was better than even I dreamed it would be. So glad we saw them on one of their rare N American trips. I’m an even bigger fan than I was!

    Headliner late

by Bri on 3/16/24The Anthem - Washington

Event doors opened at 630 with a 730 start time and the headliner didn’t make an appearance until 930. I only had time to stay for a few songs as it was a Wednesday night. Some sort of disclosure that the main event wouldn’t start until 930 would have been appreciated.

    STUPENDOUS

    by hannah grace on 3/14/24

Seeing the Kooks live was one of the best times of my whole life! Definitely the best concert I’ve ever been to. Their stage presence is just amazing, and their music is 1000x better in person! They’re a must-see!

    Wonderful venue and sound!

by SherriLea on 3/12/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

This was a treat! My boyfriend and I are massive fans of The Vaccines and what a bonus when we found they were opening for the kooks, whom I have never seen, yet knew enough about them to be happy to see the Vaccines not as the headliner. It was an extra bonus that the first opener, Daisy the Great was fantastic too! In fact, we did not make it through the entire Kooks set, because we are a bit older than the bulk of the crowd and I just can’t make it that late. I was so happy that I did get to see a new band plus a fave and a bit of the poppy headliner. The sound here was great and the entry process was seamless!

    Amazing Show!

by The Kooks on 3/12/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

I’ve loved this band since they came out years ago and I’ve always wanted to see them. They didn’t disappoint at all. Truly amazing show! They are one hell of a band. I would go see them every time they are in the states. One of my favorite concerts and I’ve gone to a lot.

    Kooks in Philly

by Ac on 3/12/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

It was a great show. Love the classic songs but I see why people love their first album songs more than the last one. But still great energy.

    Excellent

by PedroK on 3/11/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

The Vaccines supported and were good. They have just released theur sixth album and have been together longer than the KOOKs. Enjoyed the sound and the songs from their recent release. The singer ? leadman could do with a little more showmmanship. Did not really sell or convince me with the performance. The Kooks as a unit were much tighter and I enjoyed their sound much more than the Vaccines garage rock (which was also entertaining). In addition, the Kooks 15th anniversary tour (of their first long player) was delivered very professionally and produced the appropriate responce while providing the right atmosphere and getting an appropriate audience responce which made for a very enjoyable concert. The Kooks front man provided much more leadership and was at easy with the audience much more than his counterpart with The Vaccines. They played the first album nearly identical to its track layout 9as can be found on its vinyl release). Starting out with the acoustic "Seaside"and moving into the electric guitar pop that they are known and loved for. They have matured as a band and as musicians, This is my third or fourth time seeing them. My first encounter, seeing them was with a friend. I attended a free radio gig in a small pub in North Station. It was their first visit to Boston, it must be 13 or 14 years ago. Since that time their stage presence along with the musical abilities (short slight guitar psycidilic breaks) leading into longer versions of their originals. The Kooks please KEEP KOOKING up performances such as these and keep coming back to these shores.

    only played for 70 minues

by salctcal on 3/11/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

It was sad that we The Kooks only played for 70 minutes. The show was great, but seemed way to short. There was an opening band that should not have been invited and the second opener played the same amount of time as the kooks.

    The Kooks Are Out

    by FanGirl’02 on 3/11/24Tabernacle - Atlanta

I heard from someone that seeing The Kooks live was amazing and one of their most favorite concerts, so I took that information as a recommendation and since I was already a fan of The Kooks I thought the next time they were in town I would go, didn’t expect their next stateside show to be in my town. Guess it was just ment to be cause I ended up getting to go and it was such a great concert, I already want to see them again, I kept wanting to scream encore all night. I hope they return to the states with another tour at some point because I’ll definitely be there.

Great show, would not see a live nation show again

by Aron on 3/11/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Trapped. Not allowed reentry. Made the show suck. Started at 7:45, I left before the headliner at 10 as I wanted to go smoke a joint in my legal state legally. I was told I wouldn't be allowed back in, and just left. Waste of 70 dollars. 15 dollars for a 16 oz Miller ultra, 25 for a mixed drink. Greedy cash grab, didnt have enough to spend on artists merchandise. Don't go to live Nation shows.
