The Kooks in Concert
Formed in Brighton in 2004, The Kooks achieved mainstream commercial success almost immediately. Taking their name from the title of a David Bowie song, The Kooks signed to the Virgin Records label in 2005 and have not looked back since, enjoying Top 10 singles, No. 1 hit albums and a number of awards along the way.
Influenced by the music of artists such as The Police, The Strokes and The Rolling Stones, friends Luke Pritchard, Hugh Harris, Max Rafferty and Paul Garred formed The Kooks while at Brighton Music College. Just a few months after forming, the band was offered a recording contract with Virgin. The resulting debut album, Inside In/Inside Out, was an immediate smash hit in 2006, reaching No. 2 in the UK album chart, achieving platinum status in both the UK and Ireland, and winning many fans in the US. In 2008, The Kooks returned with another hit album Konk, featuring the tracks “Shine On” and “Always Where I Need to Be.” The Kooks embarked on an extensive tour to help promote the album. The third album from The Kooks, Junk of the Heart, was released in late 2011.
The commercial success of The Kooks has been matched with critical plaudits from their peers and the music industry. The single “She Moves in Her Own Way” was nominated for a BRIT Award in 2007. In 2006, The Kooks were crowned Best UK and Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. That same year the band also picked up the UK Festival Award for Best Breakthrough Act. In addition to these wins, The Kooks have also been nominated on a number of occasions for both Q Awards and NME Awards.

I'm such a huge fan of the kooks and they did NOT disappoint. They absolutely rocked the MTelus venue and even took our request to play'Jackie Big Tits'! 100% recommend, what a lovely group of lads.
The Kooks had amazing energy!! Really loved watching this band perform their songs live. In the encore they performed TWO more songs. Would definitely go back to see them perform live again!!
this is probably the best concert I have been to and will ever go to. got to meet members from the kooks and the vaccines which was so lucky and surreal. they're the sweetest people ever and so so talented. 10/10 experience, will go to any future show I can attend.
All three bands performed so well! I was transported back in time in the most fun way. Love the Fox in Oakland, and seeing The Kooks there was just a great treat. I would definitely see them again next time around.
Great show overall. Felt like the Vaccines had the edge on the Kooks. The Fox now prices beer at extortionate levels. $17 a pint is DL robbery.

Clearly they’re a band that knows how to read and move a crowd, design a set that shares a story with ups and downs, and they’re incredible musicians. Their instrumental break, especially during “Do You Wanna”, was a mind melting experience. 9/10, would travel to see another show.

All 3 bands were great, but the Kooks really knocked it out of the park. The band is great and Luke Pritchard is a great showman and lead singer. I would highly recommend going to this show. The Kooks rarely come to the US, don't miss your chance.

The Kooks are at the top of my list, and I could not pass up a chance to see them live! Such an amazing show! They brought the energy, engaged the audience, and exceeded performance expectations. Every band member displayed their talent to a level I had not seen before. So good!!
Got there right when The Vaccines started & were pleasantly surprised. Lots of energy & fun songs to sing along to. Been a fan of The Kooks since shortly after the release of one of the best albums of all-time & to hear them play all those songs was better than even I dreamed it would be. So glad we saw them on one of their rare N American trips. I’m an even bigger fan than I was!
The Kooks put on a great show. They played a good selection of their hits.
Event doors opened at 630 with a 730 start time and the headliner didn’t make an appearance until 930. I only had time to stay for a few songs as it was a Wednesday night. Some sort of disclosure that the main event wouldn’t start until 930 would have been appreciated.
I’ve been to dozens of concerts at the anthem but the kooks put on one of the best shows ever!! the energy and crowd interacting was awesome! loved loved loved this concert!
Seeing the Kooks live was one of the best times of my whole life! Definitely the best concert I’ve ever been to. Their stage presence is just amazing, and their music is 1000x better in person! They’re a must-see!
This was a treat! My boyfriend and I are massive fans of The Vaccines and what a bonus when we found they were opening for the kooks, whom I have never seen, yet knew enough about them to be happy to see the Vaccines not as the headliner. It was an extra bonus that the first opener, Daisy the Great was fantastic too! In fact, we did not make it through the entire Kooks set, because we are a bit older than the bulk of the crowd and I just can’t make it that late. I was so happy that I did get to see a new band plus a fave and a bit of the poppy headliner. The sound here was great and the entry process was seamless!
I’ve loved this band since they came out years ago and I’ve always wanted to see them. They didn’t disappoint at all. Truly amazing show! They are one hell of a band. I would go see them every time they are in the states. One of my favorite concerts and I’ve gone to a lot.
It was a great show. Love the classic songs but I see why people love their first album songs more than the last one. But still great energy.
