About

THE KNOCKS IN CONCERT:

Nu-disco production duo The Knocks combine retro synths and vintage beats with a modern pop sensibility to arrive at a sound that is both classic and cutting-edge. Their 2014 single "Classic" bears all the markings of a Studio 54-era smash, but the contributions of featured vocalist Powers give the song a decidedly contemporary feel.  At their live shows the pair fleshes out thumping tracks like "Dancing with the DJ" and "Modern Hearts" with a drummer and backup dancers, making for an electric concert experience that always gets fans moving and shaking. The Knocks have toured with Ellie Goulding and shared the stage with superstars like Calvin Harris and Tiesto, and they put that valuable experience to work every time they deliver their dance-worthy sets on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Knocks is comprised of Ben "B-Roc" Ruttner and James "JPatt" Patterson, two New York-based producers who met while attending The New School University in Greenwich Village. After becoming roommates they began collaborating on tracks, and before long their remixes of hits by artists like Lady Gaga and Rihanna earned them a publishing deal. As buzz around the project mounted they began producing tracks of their own, and in 2010 they broke through with the single "Dancing with the DJ". The song shot to No. 1 on Hype Machine and topped Japan's Electronic Songs Chart, introducing them to a global audience and leading to a deal with A&M Records. They made their debut on the label in 2011 with the Magic EP, a glittering collection of nu-disco tracks that drew them out for extensive touring. They continued to make waves in 2013 with hugely popular cuts like "Modern Hearts" and "Geronimo", a collaboration with revered French house producer Fred Falke. In 2014 B-Roc and JPatt released the Comfortable EP, another stellar slice of retro-futuristic jams that has fans chomping at the bit to catch them on tour.

    Absolutely Amazing

by J. H. on 10/12/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

I drove 6 hours from Florida to the Charleston Music Hall because I really liked the venue. I could have saved $500 and seen the concert in Orlando but honestly Orlando sucks and I like Charleston. The concert was definitely worth the time and money spent. One of the best concerts I've been to. Event staff was super friendly and helpful and the seating couldn't have been better in the balcony. Looking forward to returning to Charleston Music Hall in the near future.

Juliana Madrid, Cannons & The Knocks: WOW!

by Kristin on 10/11/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

First of all, we were not familiar with any of these talents before we saw the show. Not only were all the artists excellent, but the venue at The Charleston Music Hall was perfect. We could see well and the hall is very nicely maintained and the concessions were really excellent. We LOVED the show. All these artists are on our playlists now. Thank you for hosting this level of talent!

The venue was perfect and the band did an amazing job. It was safe for everyone and I had such a great time. If they come back to this venue I’m for sure going again.

Be Nice To Your Fans at the Meet and Greet

by almostfamouswriter on 10/4/22House of Blues Houston - Houston

First time seeing them, got the VIP tickets for my birthday. Cannons, Michelle Joy was an absolute angel and engaged with the fans, spoke to us and really took the questions and experience seriously. The Knocks. I absolutely love them, but there is something to be said when Ben Ruttner acted like he didn't want to be there and was on his cell phone scrolling and texting during the meet and greet. It was really disappointing. Fans hold you on a pedestal because your music changes us, inspires us. I ALWAYS buy a tour tshirt at every concert. After the meet and greet, I was so disappointed that I didn't buy a The Knocks tshirt. I know I'm only one person and it will probably never make a difference, but I still love your music. It's really unique and memorable, but please be nicer to your fans when they meet you. JPatt, you were amazing. :) You really carried the show!

    AMAZING SHOW

by Litbugi on 10/4/22House of Blues Houston - Houston

Cannons crushed it. So crisp and clear. They played all the hits and more. Loved seeing them live. It was perfect. Venue was good though they have some strange rules about bags, for example they allow clutches but not all clutches.

    Houston

by KitKat on 10/4/22House of Blues Houston - Houston

They were amazing. I missed them a few years ago so I jumped at the chance to see them and bought my tickets way in advance. Cannons was the opening act. I saw Cannons in February when they opened up for Lovely the Band and once they were finished half the crowd left. Same thing happened at The Knox. Cannons doesn’t need to open for anyone anymore. They have a nice fan base that go just to see them and leave. I just feel bad for the main act. It helps sell tickets though!

    Cannons

by TFrench on 9/30/22The Van Buren - Phoenix

This review is for Cannons and Julianna Madrid- the opening acts for the Knocks. They were both amazing with high energy & fantastic sound. I came strictly to see cannons I’ve never heard of the Knocks therefore I left when Cannons were finished. Cannons blew my mind. They sound exactly how they do on the radio & the crowd was really pumped up. 10/10.

Start time on my ticket was incorrect

by BradHaubrich on 1/22/16The Foundry - Philadelphia

I attended this show specifically to see the band Sofi Tukker (opening act) and missed her set completely because the time on our tickets listed the start time for the show as 11:59 pm. When we arrived at the show Sofi told us that she had actually gone on at 11:00 pm, we had completely missed her set, and there was not a single person in the crowd when she played. The worst part was that everyone in my party had a feeling that 11:59 pm was a little late to start a show, but we couldn't find information that told us otherwise. The only bit of information that hinted that the opener might be going on before the time listed on the ticket and the website was a vague tweet sent out a few hours before the show that did not confirm anything. The Knocks were good, but unfortunately they were not who I was hoping to see.

    DANCE DANCE DANCE

by semajxcx on 8/1/15Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

The knocks put on an amazing show! It was one big dance party! J Patt's smooth vocals gave an air of sexy cool and confident, while dj broc rocked away on the drum kit/synths. I never danced so much in my life. And they bought out all their features from their eps like Alex Newell on "Collect My Love" and Powers on the hit single "Classic" and even St.Lucia for "Modern Hearts". The show was one big party from start to end

    Blown away

by Nyoi on 8/1/15Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

This was hands down one of the best concerts I have ever been to in my life. I was not familiar with a lot of The Knocks' music but when they performed they had such incredible energy. Everyone was dancing and they brought so many guest vocalists on stage to enhance the quality of the musical experience. They are pure talent and some of the vocalists (Alex Newell, St. Lucia) were jaw dropping with their vocal control. Everything was amazing and they were on fire. I am dying to see them again asap.
