Enjoyed the story but sound quality was bad. Often unable to make out what was being said.
If I hadn’t read the book I don’t think I would have known what’s going on. Sound was awful, I only got a few words here and there. All that considered, I still appreciate the time and talent it takes to put on a production.
Normally the acoustics is very good at Gammage. This was not the case with this show. I found it almost impossible to ascertain what was being said. The only time I had a chance of understanding the conversation was when the actors raised their voices. A person sitting next to me and one of my friends said the same thing. My friend also mentioned he would not come back after intermission. He, eventually did come back.
Story was on point however would have liked to see a little more visual with it instead of the same background throughout the whole show. Would have also have liked to see more Kites instead of just the sounds of them. Volume seemed off, there were times that you couldn't really hear what the actors were saying and I got lost a couple of times, also felt that the accents were not consistent as the show was progressing. All in all it was a good show but I felt as though there could have been more visuals and volume a little more controlled.
Don’t go. It’s very difficult to judge a play that you couldn’t hear what the hell they were saying.
Loved the play but the only bugaboo was that it was difficult to hear. The mic’s could have been much louder. Even with headphones many times the dialog was muffled.
The well done production enabled me to learn about Afghanistan, their culture, and struggles in life. The flow of the story was right. Appreciated being able to attend.
An amazingly well told story about love, prejudice, and war. Using Afghanistan and the US as a backdrop - events in the recent past become very relatable to current events in the world —and the human condition in general. I left changed in a way. Something akin to wanting to be a better person. The use of live music throughout was very effective.
