I've said it before. I will never understand how this band is not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. This group is musically tight and always puts on a great performance. They are musicians and entertainers. They had the crowd on their feet from start to finish and were high energy throughout. They haven't lost a step over the years. Well worth the time and cost and an added unexpected bonus with Ian Hunter opening. Definitely a must see performance.
The J. Geils band rocked the house. High energy all through the concert! The crowd was on their feet rocking out the whole time! One of the best shows I've ever seen ;) Disappointed that the Jumbotron was turned off though! UGH
BEST CONCERT IN YEARS!! BEST LIVE BAND IN THE LAND!!
Great show by Ian Hunter and J Geils Band. Played all the good songs and completely entertained the audience.
These two bands gave the fans great performances - no complaints at all - wonderful night and man, who could imagine Ian Hunter still going strong at 76 (40 years ago when we last saw him) Just a wonderful night. Peter Wolf is amazing as is everyone in J Geils - just loved the show.
Wolf still has a decent voice and moves a bit slower than twenty years ago but, that's how it works. They were tight as a band and played with dedication. The absence of Geils himself was noticeable but not is a big negative way. All in all a good, tight band. Four starts as the venue Northfield HardRock needs help with bloated sound. Acoustic treatments couldn't hurt at all.
The band was Awesome - They still have it - What energy ! India Point Park was perfect for an outside concert ! The grounds were beautiful, general admission was great.Could walk anywhere and see the band. The beverage prices were very reasonable ! What a great experience !
Peter Wolf, Magic Dick and the rest of the funkiest band in the land have been entertaining Maine audiences since the early 70's. On September 3, 2015 they were at it again on the Maine State Pier in Portland. The energy, the entertainment and the music left no one in the audience disappointed. True professionals who belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They left it all on stage. Thank you J. Geils Band for treating Maine to the decades of your musical expertise, your masterful entertainment and for always giving us your very best.
I have seen this band 20 times now, the first time back in 1972. They are still one of the most fun, rocking bands around . It's always a party when they're in town ! Everyone was on their feet. India Point Park is also a great outside concert venue.
As always , the J. Geils band did not disappoint ! The only negative to the whole evening was that they didn't have a designated smoking area . I am recovering from throat cancer and had to endure one ignorant person who felt he had the right to smoke his cigar while many people around him (including my Love ,other adults and children in the crowd) had to inhale his disgusting second hand smoke ! I have NOTHING against anyone who chooses to risk their health by smoking but those of us who have learned our lesson or choose not to should NOT be forced to endure their disgusting habit !!!!!!!
One of the best shows I've been to in a while. Peter Wolf is awesome!
What a beautiful night! Ian Hunter and the food and beverage vendors warmed up nicely. The sun went down and the show band came up! Non-stop two hours of fantastic rock n' blues.
A MUST SEE !!!!! HADN'T SEEN THEM IN 32 YEARS (5 TIMES FROM 1979-1982) THEY ROCK JUST AS HARD AS EVER
I thought the performance was very outstanding. I wanted to hear their songs I've been listening to on the radio for years. I thought it was a terrific show. Both band played well.
Peter Wolf and the rest of the band sounded great! Amazing Show!
Totally awesome...like back in 77..yup! He has not changed! Totally cool!
Cool venue. On the water. Lots of boats full of people enjoying the music, even if they couldn't see the stage. The opening band, Ian Hunter and The Rant Band were really good, even though most of the songs were covers of other band's music. J. Geils were just phenomenal! I haven't seen them since 1980, but they were even better than I hoped they would be! They were tight, and the sound couldn't have been better. The volume was perfect, and every voice and instrument were crystal clear! The only diappointment was that they didn't play "One Last Kiss", which is my favorite J. Geils song. But, they could have played another two hours and not played everything i wanted to hear.
J Geils put on an awesome show!!! It was high energy and was very entertaining!! Loved India Point Park too!!! Great place to see a show!!
Best venue I've ever been at for a concert! Very intimate up close and personal! The band fed off the crowds energy. Would go there again in a heartbeat!
