Amazing show. Great energy from the band. The venue is one of the reasons why the show was great, small and intimate
It was one of those rare perfect sets for a band. The crowd fed off of spirited lead man Kelvin Swaby and he in turn fed off the boisterous crowd. Every song gathered force for the final encore when they performed their two most well-known songs 'What Makes a Good Man?' and 'How You Like Me Now?'. It was a rambunctious cap to an extraordinarily fun night with my wife. Hope The Heavy comes back soon cuz we will surely see them again. Props to the band and the backup singer.
The Heavy always put on an energetic, fast-paced show. There are no slow songs in their set. They constantly engage with the crowd. Highly recommended!
Rarely do I attend a show with this much connection between band and audience. The intimate size of the Shelter definitely helped, but the Heavy kicks regardless.
This group is so chock-full of talented musicians- You couldn't ask for a "tighter" group. And Kelvin Swaby can work a crowd like nobody's business. If you enjoy solid, well-written songs that almost force you to jump and dance, delivered with a bluesy/funky/soulful voice you'll never forget and will CRAVE forever on, then THIS IS YOUR BAND.
So, basically, The Heavy is everything you'd expect from their music. Big. Bad (in a good way). And energetic. They were amazing, lively, funny, and interactive. I will definitely be seeing them when they come back, and so should anyone who calls themselves a rock fan.
High involvement of the audience. Good crowd appreciation.
Great show, they really get every one into the songs. They didn't even play more than 2 songs from The House That Dirt Built.
From the moment they entered the stage the energy rhythm beat WAS ON- it never wavered it was almost too much to bear all that passion and love directed at us and our love back at them. One of the best shows of my lifetime.
The Heavy put on a great show, i would def. recommend!
I've been waiting years for the Heavy to tour close enough to me to attend a show. Finally I got my wish and I couldn't be happier.
They were supposed to play in San Diego-they cancelled and I am not sure why and not sure when they are coming back. I was very excited to see them, as I have been following them for a while. I am very sad!
Just recently discovered this band, and LOVE literally every single one of their songs. It was a great experience getting to see them live. Great stage presence and musicianship.
Great Venue Great performance Had a great time dancing and singing! Had the whole crowd engaged..The Heavy RAWKED!!
After three really solid albums and very unique sound, the Heavy and the crowd at the Fonda Theater blew the doors off the venue in one homogenous coordinated explosion of high octane soulful energy!
I went to this expecting to enjoy The Heavy's big hit tune "How Do You Like Me Now". I wasn't particularly familiar with their albums. I was blown away, from the first song on. They really combine funk/soul with rock is a great way. The Baritone/Tenor sax team added not only great horn lines, but at times sounded like a deep fuzzed guitar. The lead singer worked the audience in a great way, and has a incredible voice. All the other players (and 3 backup singers) were great. One of the best shows I've seen in many years of concert-going. The Fonda, being standing room only, isn't an ideal venue, since I'm not tall. But there was room on an elevated area, so I had a great view and could see the whole show. I've now bought all their albums.
I have never seen a band get their audience so involved in the music, they were awesome!
It was an amazing show and the energy was electrifying!
Hadn't been to a rock show in long time... I definitely rocked out to some ad vibes, good folks around and epic tunes!
The Heavy put on the best show I have seen ever. Their songs got the whole crowd moving and when they left we (audience) made so much noise trying to get them back out the walls were shaking. By far the best show and I don't think another show will top it anytime soon. The Silent Comedy was a fantastic opening act and I think they'll become the main event very soon. Loved them a lot.
