Real, Positive Hip-Hop
by Yeagz on 12/5/10El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5This was my first time seeing The Grouch and Eligh live. I am always a fan of the artists that are out before the show talking to the fans and selling their own merchandise. True independent artists. Eligh was an incredible performer. Played songs from his new album and some of the past greats all while keeping the crowd involved. Brother Ali put on his usual uplifting and inspiring show. He gave a very nice performance of Eyedea's "Smile", which I thought was an honorable gesture. Then The Grouch came on and, for someone who has never seen him rock a stage, lit the place up. He was joined by Eligh and some of the other Living Legends to do some of their classic songs and even had Yukmouth come on the stage which was just crazy to me. If you have a chance to go see this show in your city, DO IT!!! It's worth every penny and you'll leave feeling like you just got out of a great church sermon.
