I saw this band 3 years ago at an outdoor hippy fest when they opened up for Jefferson Starship and figured why not see them again in a nice theater like Hard Rock. Dumb decision! It felt like I was attending an event for Cruising The Coast (minus the thousands of classic cars) and I almost walked out after a few songs. Instead, I chose to hang in there until they played Let's Live For Today, which did not happen until halfway through their 80 minute set. So why did I even bother to stay put? The lead singer and bassist had lots of funny stories in between songs. Had it not been for his comedy part, this would have been a 2-star event. However, when he announced that they were celebrating 51 years of playing (and he only joined 8 years ago), I got really upset. It was more like having a great first six years followed by 45 years of resting on their sixties laurels. Yes, those great songwriting teams that put them on the map are all gone, but they should not compare themselves to other bands who truly stuck together for decades.
