The Glorious Sons on Tour

Whoever said rock was dead clearly hasn't been to a Glorious Sons show. Over the course of the past decade, the Kingston, Ontario, group has gone from playing Canada's dingiest dive bars to headlining its most hallowed arenas — and when you see the band in action, it's easy to understand why. The band's modernized riff on classic rock has found an intensely loyal, ever-expanding following among people whose idea of a balanced lifestyle is wrapping one hand around a cold beer and raising the other in a permanent fist-pump. On the heels of their 2019 single "Panic Attack," the Sons hit the road with a busy summer itinerary, including a date with The Rolling Stones and appearances at some of Canada's biggest festivals (Ottawa Bluesfest, Osheaga), then hit the stateside club circuit with British rock brats The Struts.

The Glorious Sons in Concert

When you're a no-frills rock band hailing from the Canadian college town of Kingston, Ontario, you must contend with the long shadow cast by your home city's most famous exports, The Tragically Hip. But since 2011, The Glorious Sons have been building a legacy all their own. Since the release of their southern-fried 2013 single "Mama" — the song that introduced the nation to the soulful powerhouse pipes of frontman Brett Emmons — the Sons have taken up residency in the upper reaches of the Canadian rock radio charts and never left. On the back of gritty rockers like "Heavy" and "The Contender," their 2014 debut album The Union earned a Juno nomination for Best Rock Album, an award they would eventually claim with 2017's Young Beauties and Fools. Outfitting the band's old-school bluesy foundation with a more pronounced pop polish, the album's standout working-class anthem "S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun)" showcased the Sons' singular flair for making your darkest days sound like the time of your life.

    Amazing!

    by MLBNNY on 1/4/24Leon's Centre - Kingston

    The Sons never disappoint! They put on an amazing show that took fans into the New Year. It was a perfect mix of their music from over the years. I love that fans range in age from young kids with their parents, to older adults well past their prime. Boston Levi was a great start to the night, but I could have done without Tiny Horse. I’m sure they have a following, just not my genre of music.

    A++

    by Definitely on 1/3/24Leon's Centre - Kingston

    We had tried several times to see them since 2019 when we saw them in Saranac Lake, NY. Twice the shows were cancelled. We decided to drive from NY to Kingston ON, their hometown. It was worth it. The show was everything I had hoped for, and the town was cute to boot.

    by Jamie on 12/10/23Centre 200 - Sydney

    Opening band, the blue stones, was awesome and the glorious sons are fantastic and put on a great show! Centre 200 in Sydney is a great venue small so we were close to the stage. Great selection of songs from different albums and really good sound. Highly recommend this concert!

    Just a suggestion, I understand floor section is standing only but consider some bar height tables to put drinks on or food ....

    Great Show

    by MK on 11/24/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

    I really enjoyed having the pit close to the stage with separate floor seating. I think the view from anywhere in the pit was good. Last time I saw TGS, the whole floor was GA and it was a lot tougher to get a spot. Loved the show, they played all their hits and they truly love their music and their fans. Their music hits hard. I’m a fan for life. The Blue Stones opening was great too, will have to check out more of their stuff.

    The Blue Stones were great. The Glorious Sons were fantastic! Would be great if that venue had some seating and some standing, and guests could choose which to purchase.
