About

In 2022, The Gaslight Anthem returned to the stage for the first time in four years.

Unlike those shows (which celebrated the ten-year anniversary of their breakthrough LP The '59 Sound), last year's tour explored every corner of the band's discography in festival and headline dates around the world.

Having recorded their first album in nearly a decade and with a new single "Positive Charge" out now, these 2023 shows mark a new beginning for The Gaslight Anthem.

    Frank To Brian, Downright incredible

by Caleb9821 on 9/23/09The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

Frank Turner shows up on stage with just an acoustic, and he rock the fonda more than an entire regular band possibly could, i got friggin tears in my eyes when he played "long live the queen". The loved ones get on and the lead singer shares a swig of Maker's Mark with a fan and then shake the venue with their loudness, they were pretty good, but one song in particular, the second to last i believe, was incredible. Murder by death went on, with the lead singer holding a ridiculously awesome guitar that i think only he could pull off, and they rocked my ears harder then the punk band before them, thier version of Nancy Sinatra's "My Baby Shot Me Down" was nothing short of nirvana. Then, The Gaslight Anthem Get's up in stage and plays "High Lonesome" with amazing enthusiam, then they proceeded to play the entire album "The 59' Sound" and a few other songs, including: Blue Jeans And White T-Shirts (incredible), We Came To Dance (personal Favorite), Boomboxes And Dictionaries, and, a song they claim they do not play very often, We're Getting A Divorce, You Keep The Diner, overall, the show was nothing short of what I was hoping for, perfection. I would recommend any of these bands to anyone who can appreciate true music in its most mesmerizing state.

    Murder By Death rocked!

by Villain on 9/21/09House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

We were gutted to have missed Frank Turner as we thought he would've been further up the bill - not first on! Loved Ones were ok, but Murder by Death's really impressed me, never heard any of their stuff before but am definitely a bonafide fan now! Gaslight Anthem were good, but felt they lacked material & some of their songs were truly cheesey. The venue was big & cool but so overpriced at $7 a beer! And they charged a cheeky $3 to look after our camera as none are allowed in the venue (something they could have told us BEFORE the gig!)

Opening bands should have had a longer sets.

by mallori on 9/20/09The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

I purchased these tickets as a birthday gift for my fiance to see his favorite band (Murder by Death). We got our tickets via will call and there was a sheet of paper showing the time slots of each band. The worst part of the list is that the show was listed to start at 7:00 pm and the first hour was the in house DJ playing for an entire hour! Had we known we were going to listen to someone play CD's for us for an hour we would have shown up a little later since it was a general admission show. Frank Turner and The Loved Ones each were given a 30 minute time slot to play their sets. Murder By Death was given 45 minutes to play their set. I don't recall what the time slot was for the headlining band (The Gaslight Anthem) was but I believe they played for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. My advice would to be open the doors at 6:30 and have the DJ playing music until 7:00 and then start the first band at 7:00 then divide that extra hour up between the first 3 bands (15, 15, 30 minutes or 10, 15, 35 minutes). I could tell that a lot of the people besides my fiance and myself were there for specific bands other than the headlining band. The length of their sets were ridiculously short and a major disappointment to the fans of the opening bands to pay so much for such a short set.

Definitely a fun show. The band was really performing for the crowd and everyone was enjoying it. There was even a 60+ year old man dancing and singing his heart out!

    The Gaslight Anthem delivered!

by Windfighter on 9/18/09The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

I saw these guys for the first time this year at Lollapalooza. Couldn't wait to see them in a smaller venue where they could stretch things out and jam a little more. Great energy, great sound. You can tell that they are just psyched to do what they do. Crowd was rocking, a lot of crowd surfing! They've got so many hit songs on the album too.

The Gaslight Anthem at the Fonda

by 1354firststreet on 9/18/09The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood

The Gaslight Anthem played a great set last night. They played for about an hour and a half, including pretty much all of The '59 sound record. I've seen them before...opening for Rise Against and a benefit show with Alkaline Trio. This time they were very capable of carrying the show on their own. I will definately see them again the next time they're in town.

    Four Awesome Bands

    by VisualDegree05 on 9/16/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

I was really impressed with MBD, Frank and The Loved Ones. I've never seen or heard of any of them. My tolerance for sucky sub-par openers is beyond exceeded. I saw Gaslight in April back in Colorado Springs at the Black Sheep (as well as the Rise show, that's what got me started). The Black Sheep is a much smaller venue and I suppose allows for more intimacy to be established between the audience and bands. That show they seemed more involved with the audience - Brian had a lot more stories not including turkey sandwiches. This time they didn't seem that unified - what was up with Alex's hippy vibe?? However, the play list was the same, only they actually didn't play Ferris... I liked the music, I liked the sound, and I still love Gaslight. So, great show.

    Freakin' Awesome!

    by chbrown626 on 9/15/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

The show was spectacular! All the bands were great. The Loved Ones have a pretty sweet Hot Water Music vibe and definitely played their hearts out for the audience. Murder By Death rocked the house! The cello player was rockin' and the whole band had amazing stage presence; I was in awe, they were super great! Gaslight put on a tremendous show and were very entertaining. They played wonderfully and had a great time up on stage. The overall show was absolutely fabulous! I would recommend seeing each and every one of the bands that played again!

Best show of the year hands down

    by aceszn8s on 9/14/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Gaslight Anthem will always be the perfect summer band, so seeing them on a hot summer night with a few drinks is something everyone should do. Seeing them live was a real treat and the supporting cast of Murder by death and the loved ones made it all the better. Do not miss this tour.
