Bringing their neo-psychedelic flavor to a whole new generation of fans, the Flaming Lips released their most recent album, The Terror, in April 2013. Later in the year, they released Peace Sword, an EP of songs inspired by the film Ender's Game. The Flaming Lips have constantly been on tour during the past three years, with an average of two dates per month. It's an impressive schedule, to say the least, especially if you're familiar with how one-of-a-kind the band's live shows are. At any moment, ticket buyers can expect anything from puppets to video animation, confetti-filled balloons and colored smoke shows at a Flaming Lips concert. Frontman Wayne Coyne then steps into a giant plastic bubble and walks on top of the audience – crowdsurfing at its most nuanced. The Terror lends itself well to live interpretation, invoking as it does the dystopian psychology of science fiction novels. Surrealist antics on stage reflect the wonderfully dark tone of the album. Songs like the title track and "Butterfly, How Long it Takes to Die" are hauntingly beautiful, cathartic songs about love and loss, life and death.
Wayne Coyne, his brother, Mark, and their friend, Michael Ivins founded the band in 1983. After several personnel changes, the band finally found a winning formula, and pretty soon, was cranking out albums. Transmissions from the Satellite Heart, released in 1993, hit the charts, received critical acclaim and earned the band a spot at Lollapalooza. The single, "She Don't Use Jelly," inspired a cult following and reached No. 55 on Billboard's Top 100. Coyne and company followed with several more albums, each one offering a new spin, new concept and new set of rules by which the band continued to remain fresh year after year.

The Flaming Lips were fantastic! What a great show with stunning visuals. I only cried twice, I was so happy!!!
One of the best shows I've ever been to. Band killed it. Touching.
Great venue with amazing acoustics. Staff was very friendly and bar service was quick. They have food truck options for dining but nothing in house. Bathrooms were clean and plentiful, never had to wait. Had a great time!
The last time I saw the Flaming Lips was playing this exact Yoshimi album 20 years ago at Santa Barbara Arlington Theater while they were touring with Beck. They blew my mind then having never heard of them, and succeeded in blowing my mind again after being a huge fan ever since. It was quite an existential journey reliving not just the band and album but also reliving a 20 yr younger version of myself. I'm a cargo pilot and was in LA on an overnight from Maui where I live and where there's been so much recent devastation. It was such a cathartic experience being there. Wayne's empathetic words on humanity, sadness, and resilience in between songs and also just from his beautiful lyrics on their own brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions. I can honestly say this was the most moving show of any form of entertainment that I've ever been to in my life. The intimate atmosphere of You Tube theater, amazing acoustics, light show and outrageous effects of so many different varieties (gigantic inflated pink robots and mechanical flying bird included) all added to the spectacle and extravaganza. Thank you Flaming Lips, you put so much love and effort into your show and fans, sending all the Aloha I've got right back at you from a forlorn Maui. I will pay forward the lift up you gave me to all those I come in contact with here at home who are in so desperate need of a lift up themselves.
Fantastic show at YouTube Theatre from The Flaming Lips. Outstanding musicianship, exquisite multimedia presentation, so many positive vibes from the band and fellow concertgoers. Played the entirety of their Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots albums, took an intermission, and finished with a bunch more songs from other albums. Excellent show - top to bottom!
It was my 1st time seeing The Flaming Lips and it was the most fun I've had at a concert. They were amazing and the YouTube theater is a great venue.
Well known the flaming lips did their thing, very emotional built-in moment, played the entire album and more songs after the encore. Always fun, always positive vibes. Loved the pink robots, excellent screen behind them, was really cool tech.
A completely joyous experience. Truly an uplifting show - #theflaminglips lifted us up beyond expectations. Confetti, 20 feet high pink robots, giant balloons, rainbows, Wonder Woman, ultra tight band, pink robots raining down on us. Amazing songs. F U N. Great audience too - and props to the venue. Great experience all around. #yoshimibattlesthepinkrobots #psychedelica
This is my third time seeing the Flaming Lips and I will never miss them. It is a sensory experience you won't soon forget. The music is awesome, Wayne Coyne is a therapist disguised as a singer, and the band is amazing. You really have to see them to understand. Took my daughter, granddaughter and her friend, and her friends mother. 3 new rabid Flaming Lips fans!
The Flaming Lips are the best! Such a great show and still riding high from it. Fabulous musicians❤️
This is the third time seeing the flaming lips and they never disappoint!! I’m so grateful I was there to see the entirety of Yoshimi performed live, it’s something I’ll never forget. Great show, great people, great crowd!
This was a concert my daughter wanted to see, and I am so glad we went. Amazing visually, sonically and even more importantly the whole theater was filled with joy and love. Incredible performance and left feeling awake and alive.
Such great energy and love.. amazing sound. You should see them if you can
One of the best shows I've been to in a long time. 10/10 would see them again
Introduced my 16 year old daughter to the Flaming Lips earlier this year with an eye toward this show. She was as blown away as I was and was her favorite show ever. This even beat seeing Taylor Swift a few weeks earlier in Sofi. Great and expansive setlist, amazing visuals, and amazing message of love. What a way to spend a few hours, Thanks to the Lips, never would have imagined 30 years after finding them that I would be sharing this sacred experience with my kid.
Second Flaming Lips show, both of them have been in intimate theaters, great performance, so much love.
My nine year old and I traveled from Sacramento to LA for the show at YouTube. It did not disappoint and I hope this gave my son an appreciation for concerts, music and performers. We both love the music of the Flaming Lips but even more, I knew the performance would be memorable and hopefully lead to a life-long pursuit of live music. Confetti, inflatables, lasers and balloons were awesome, along with your messages about love and empathy. Great show and teaching moments! Thanks you.
An amazing, emotional, experience! Fantastic! Had such an amazing evening!
They put on a hell of a show. Super fun night at the Fillmore Philly.
