About

Known for their dazzling musicianship, fierce energy and spectacular live performances, the Dillinger Escape Plan formed in North New Jersey in 1997. A fusion of hardcore, metal and jazz, the group's music first won the attention of fans and critics with a three-song EP, Under the Running Board. The band's full-length debut, Calculating Infinity, followed in 1999--a musically intense, genre-defying album that earned the group a devoted following. Catching the attention of singer Mike Patton, the Dillinger Escape Plan soon opened for Patton's band Mr. Bungle on a U.S. tour and released an EP of material with guest vocals by Patton entitled Irony is a Dead Scene. After extensive touring in Europe and the U.S., the group returned to the studio with a new lead singer, issuing Miss Machine, featuring the tracks "Panasonic Youth" and "Unretrofied," to rave reviews in 2004. A busy touring schedule followed, including appearances on the Vans Warped Tour as well as headlining tours in both 2004 and fall 2005.

The Dillinger Escape Plan, Trash Talk, and Retox!!

by PlentyOFarts on 4/6/14Webster Hall - New York

I missed the opening band, The Shining. I heard a lot of talk from other people there that they were sick. Retox (featuring Justin Pearson from The Locust on vocals) was the first band I saw. They had a sound similar to The Dillinger Escape Plan, and they were ridiculously good, like most things Justin Pearson is involved with. Trash Talk was wild. Their singer was in the pit for most of the show. Dillinger was dreamy and jaw-droppingly awesome. They're so good.

by Ammiee on 7/30/13House of Blues Houston - Houston

Awesome show! The Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, The Ocean were all at their top game. Awesome music from everywhere! Newcomer band MARA was also great! A new group out of Baton Rouge, LA, They ROCKED! Extreme guitar riffs and an awesome bass player and keyboards. Really enjoyed their style of music and look forward to hearing more from them! Summer Slaughter @ HOB Houston is the BEST!

    Good show

by Maddoggy on 5/2/13A and R Music Bar - Columbus

Excellent atmosphere, good vibe. Not enough pissers ... but stood in line with Alex Rudinger and the singer from Royal Thunder waiting for a bathroom and talked with them. Sound was pretty good. Some technical difficulties with the stage monitors and the close proximity of the sound board. Dillinger played like their hair was on fire. The Faceless did not disappoint and Royal Thunder a unique and cool vibe.

Absolutely insane. I guess that's what happens when you bring a unicorn to a Dillinger/Faceless show.

As always, DEP was brutal and full of energy. It was a shame the audience was smaller as that can affect the experience. Still they played great live.

    BEST DILLINGER EVER

by blig1 on 5/18/11Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Right in the heart of the hipster-laden, metrosexual capital of New York (and probably the world), the Dillinger Escape Plan once again blew the doors off a venue, and left the earth scorched after their performance, This was my seventh time seeing them, and they somehow continue to make every show more unbelievable, more astonishing than the last. I don't care what type of rock you're into, if you are a fan of the rock SHOW, you MUST see this band live. It is a spectacle, in every sense of the word. They never stop moving, jumping, bleeding, or crowd-surfing. Ever. They are pure energy: kinetic, frenetic, and uncontrollable. Yet somehow they manage to play their incredibly technical brand of punishing math-core, paint-peeling breakdowns and sing-along chorouses without missing a beat--even while standing on their amps, or the heads & shoulders of their fans. This is as real as it gets. If you want viscera, you got it.

DEP killed. KILLED. Amazing energy generator. Psychic Limb opening was great. The other Psychic band would've been ok if I was home sitting on my couch half asleep. Kinda like Hawkwind. Anyway, DEP put on the best show I've maybe ever been to.

    TDEP 5/15 Music Hall

by Asaf28r7138ry on 5/17/11Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Anyone who was there knows what an epic event this was. TDEP were just coming from two nights with the Deftones in times sq and the entire neighborhood blew up the house. They played all their classics and the 15 minute dog pile towards the end was absolutely monstrous.

    Greatest Gig I've ever seen.

by Megalodon on 5/17/11Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

I think the title explains it all. The gig was the type of gig you dream about going to. I woke up the next morning feeling like I survived something very special. Everyone should catch this band at least once, especially if they're playing a venue without barricades. I've brought people who hate the genre of music they play and they've always walked out just as awestruck as myself. I've seen Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Cannibal Corpse, Municipal Waste, Suicidal Tendencies, Alice In Chains,Converge,Mastodon, Deftones, Faith No More etc. This show topped them all. The only live bands who I've seen come close were Faith No More and Municipal Waste. Catch them live if you can- And even if the music doesn't sound "musical" to you, give it a chance. Once you see it in person with an open mind, you'll understand what it's about. Anyone who feels bad that they missed legendary gigs back in the day will feel much better after seeing The Dillinger Escape Plan. They prove that the magic of live musical insanity isn't dead yet.

    Best show yet

by Dunnypop on 5/17/11Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

I've seen DEP around 7 times now and this has got to be the best show yet. Highlight was when around 50 people got up o stage and proceeded to stage dive.
