  • Outstanding!

I've been listening to The Dears for the past 5 years and have always enjoyed their music. When I got wind of them performing in Brooklyn, I was like "well...maybe...why not?" So I drove all the way to Brooklyn from Westchester and am so happy I did - they were phenomenal! Great tight band, wonderful musicians, and Murray Lightburn is a terrific singer and leader. Was well worth missing game 2 of the world series, and I'm a huge Mets fan! Come back to NYC soon, Dears!

  • The Dears rocked out

Dears were great. Some technical difficulties, but they worked through it. There were only about 50 or so people there and the speakers were really freaking loud, probably unneeded, but it was a good time nonetheless. Brighton Music Hall is pretty much the same as Harpers, except they cleaned the bathrooms!

Why The Dears are not a house hold name is a great mystery to me. I've seen this band perform live three times now and they are nothing short of INCREDIBLE. I started listening to The Dears when they released their second album in 2004 "No Cities Left". The album took some time to grow on me... I wasn't crazy about it at first, but through out the years I found myself putting on "No Cities Left" because I loved several of it's loud, poppy, gloomy, epic, love-lorn songs. I had the same experience with "Gang of Losers" and "Missiles". They grew and grew until something clicked in me and I fell completely for The Dears. Seeing them live only increased my admiration for their music. I don't think I've ever seen them at a show that was "sold out" but when they perform they carry an energy and sound that embodies everything I love about rock n' roll.
