Darkness- What a showman is Justin Hawkins

by CFCFCF on 1/12/13Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

First time in Revolution, nicely surprised. Good atmosphere. Sound could be better but the intimacy of the place compensates it. Hell or Highwater, nice support band, great singer. Haven't seen The Darkness in a concert before and that make a lot of a difference. They are fair musicians but Justin Hawkins is one of the best frontman I have ever seen. Really an artist on the stage (and jumping into people!!!!!!) with nice/singular voice. Lot of energy. Value for money- Great night

Justin is an amazing frontman. His brother is such an awesome talented rhythm player we really loved watching those two play. The whole band is amazing. My wife and I would see them many many more times again whether at Revolution or somewhere else. Keep rocking guys !!!

The Darkness so talented and sexy!

    by Kimmers7 on 11/1/12Club Nokia - L.A.

The gig at Club Nokia next to Staples Center in Downtown, L.A. last Wednesday, October 24th was so amazing. I love this band and I can't get enough of them. The show was sooo entertaining. The were so professional and at one point I was on another planet. They are so talented and I love their music. Gosh, I wanted to hang with them so bad. I couldn't wait to see them and they rocked. Def Leppard should have been there for this one. Thanks Darkness. Come see me soon!

    Would see this again

    by DaveM86 on 10/29/12Terminal 5 - New York

The Darkness are amazing live...they sound just like recordings and Justin Hawkins hits every note perfectly. The show wasn't overly crowded, but the die hard fans were definitely there. The band has a ton of energy and really gets the crowd into it. I would definitely see them again.

    The Darkness in LA

by moshdog on 10/26/12Club Nokia - Los Angeles

My wife brought me, she loves The Darkness. And I admit, not a huge fan, but I’ve been known to rock to the Darkness from time to time. The Darkness are a 70’s throwback to the past. They are rife with lead guitar solos, a high pitched front man, tattoos and lots of attitude. And the refreshing thing is that their attitude is all about FUN. They look like they would be your typical metal band but they are not. The show was hilarious. In between songs, it was like we were at a Russell Brand comedy show. Lead singer Justin Hawkins, is charismatic and super funny. I was laughing as much as rocking!

The Darkness was the highlight of my year!!!

by Sassyshe888 on 10/26/12Club Nokia - Los Angeles

Where do I even begin to say how amazing The Darkness is live. They put on such a great and unforgettable show. I swear everytime they perform, they just get better and better. I just wish they would have more shows in LA/OC area than just once a year! The Darkness performed their new songs but it does not get any better than playing songs from their Permission to Land album. Pure bliss awesomeness in so many epic proportions!

Best Rock Band since Led Zeppelin, SERIOUSLY!

by RBARBERA on 10/26/12Club Nokia - Los Angeles

I saw Zeppelin in '69 in a venue about this size and, since then, I haven't seen anything that compares. And of course it's not 'apples to apples', but the excitement, and level of profeciency that these guys exhude, is. What's BETTER about these guys is a certain element of personality that beams thru, Justin is more than just a great voice and frontman (and guiartist - who can REALLY play), he's really fun and keeps you captivated from start to finish. Dan has chops that are really on-par with the greats, bluesy- meaningful solos, KNOWS how to play rhythm without blur, Frankie is concrete solid on bass(I wish he'd play a Fender though, it would just sound better..) and Ed is a hard-hitter with fills that are so well placed and never self-serving. I wish they played more tunes from the 2nd Lp but am not dissapointed in the selection of the set list as it was a good balance of old and new. Great show guys! Can't wait til you come back to LA!

    Rocked my bloody face-off

by WouldGiveAKideny on 10/25/12Terminal 5 - New York

Now that I've had a couple of days to really reflect back on what transpired that fateful night in T5, on a lovely Sunday evening in NYC, I can recount objectively as to how my simple mind and tiny ear drums exploded when the Darkness came on. The boys ripped through the hits of all three albums with finesse and mad guitar skills from the brothers Hawkins. While Justin's both chizzled and thoroughly inked torso strutted across the stage, my body was attacked by the pounding drums of Eddie and the bass beats of Frankie. Sadly, the night ended way too early as Love on the Rocks could've lasted another 20 or 30 mins (minus that creepy guy), easily. This was my second show in NYC, didn't think they could've top the that second Irving Plaza night last winter, but the boys surely delivered, and then some. I would see them again and again if I can, so you should too if they ever roll into your town! If they are the keepers of Rock'n'roll, then we can put our children to bed safely at night.

    The Most Magical Experience Ever!!!

by Leanri on 10/24/12Terminal 5 - New York

It was short notice being invited to show, but getting the ticket was easy. We were greated and directed with smiles as soon as we got to the venue and from sound check to encore the show was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The opening acts The Sweathearts and the Dirty Pearls were a perfect fit and easily got everyone in the mood for some great Rock. You could see the stage from any angle and bathrooms were easily accessible. Even after these two bands preformed they were everywhere chatting with the crowd or enjoying the other bands performance. As soon as The Darkness came out the energy in the room intensified. They rocked the stage like real pros ready for a rowdy night. At the end they did 3 encore songs, making the last one as long as possible and no one could complain that the show was over.

    The Darkness & Terminal 5 A+

by LocalGoon on 10/24/12Terminal 5 - New York

Great venue, not overpriced, roomy, rooftop bar, solid rock venue, The Darkness are not only talented musicians but they inject comedy and interaction with the crowd. All around good time. If you want to bring a date to a show this is it.

    TAKEN TO 11

    by Critter2011 on 10/23/12Terminal 5 - New York

Best live music I've ever seen. So glad they've been my favorite band for 10 years. Tons of character, humor in between songs, randos invited on stage, what more could you ask for? Saw them twice in the last year, and in no way is that depressing.

This show was absolutely amazing overall. The first band Sweatheart was quirky and really funny but they pulled off their look and sound great. The had an 80's type of Pop Rock sound but had great lyrics and a solid keyboardist (literally). The Dirty Pearls had a great Hard Rock sound and it was nice seeing a hometown band kick major ass at the show. They had all types of rock and roll genres in the band and had a solid sound that had good bass, heavy drums, hard riffs, and vocals that were easy to sing along with. The Darkness hit the stage with Every Inch of You and never stopped rocking until the end of the show. Justin was witty with the crowd and the fan interaction was amazing, until the end of the show. There was this really stupid guy that was brought up on stage that wanted to be bigger than The Darkness themselves. It got annoying and you could tell that the guys in the band were getting frustrated. He killed the mood of the finish but still didn't hurt how the rest of the show was.

    The Darkness rock, as usual.

by GenericReviewerName on 10/23/12Terminal 5 - New York

This is my 3rd time seeing The Darkness and I keep coming back for more. Their music is tailormade to be played live and the entire band's high energy stage show shines. Frontman Justin Hawkins is in a league of his own when it comes to modern rock entertainers--Freddie Mercury meets Robert Plant with the firm tongue-in-cheek attitude (and splits) of David Lee Roth, plus some serious guitar skills to boot. His lyrics boast "I've got the whole arena eating out of my hand" and he's not wrong.
