Great show by both bands! This is what rock is supposed to be about!
First of all, I'm just glad the Dandys finally came back to ABQ! They played a lot of the songs I wanted to hear - Shorty, We Used to be Friends, Bohemian Like You.... But I was surprised at how MANY of the really mellow songs they played. At times the concert kinda dragged 'cause there was one mellow, trance-like song after another. I thought they could have worked in Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth to help pick things up, but they never played that. But it was awesome to finally be able to hear them live. I love this band, they're one of my favorites and I often listen to all of their albums on a constant shuffle on my iPod and never tire of the trance-like songs, so I was a happy camper, but my brother was a little bored at times.
The Dandy Warhols are a favorite band of mine. I really liked the show, but thought that the vocals were not loud enough and that the booming venue added too much fuzz to their sound. The bass should have been turned down, as it tended to drown out too many subtle moments in an otherwise good show. With a better mix, this show would have blown me away, as the band are really incredibly talented performers.
The sound was not very good- instruments overwhelmed vocals. Then you couldn't see their faces because there was no light on them and instead a huge LED panel flashing randomly in the back. They seemed like they were trying to hard to be "big" but it would have been more fun if they stayed more intimate.
The show was awesome, I loved the lights and the sound quality was great. The venue was fun and clean+not scary. I was just very upset that they didn't come back out and didn't play Scientist. Everyone was yelling for them to play it, and they just left. I couldn't believe it. I love them regardless, and they played a great show.
This is one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Small venue, not crowded and the Dandys were great. I hope they will return to the Midwest more often.
After waiting over 4 yrs. to see this band, I found out 2 days b4 the concert that the Dandy's were going to be about 100 miles from Cincinnati. The show was probably one of my top 3 shows, and I've been to over 500 concerts. The visuals were awesome and they sounded fantastic. Courtney hit every note. The song selection was very wisely chosen. But I did want to hear Courtney say,Hey girl, your lipstick do match my wallet! I got lucky and got to meet with then and Spindrift after the show, and then drinks. They were very cool people. If you want to check out some little seen live footage, watch the movie 9 Songs. here is footage of them and other bands in this fim. Also on a complilation cd called cafe Rock, they cover the Beatles 8 Days a Week. I may fly to Portland to see them in Oct. They were that good!
I have been to 2 Dandy shows now. I have been to more concerts than i can count and the DANDYS REALLY DO RULE!!! People that go to the shows have good taste and high iq's. I got to meet ct2 after the show in Lawrence KS last year and he was awesome! I got a ZIA pick also!! The band sounds as good as it gets!
The opening band, Spindrift, was good, but didn't get the crowd going as much, but Dandy Warhols was very cool. They did a 2 hour set, as they said, they have at least seven albums to pick from so they created a fairly long set list, which was nice since the opening act only was on for about a half hour. They did the hits you would expect and was very cool to listen to, watch on stage.
the show was great. they changed up the tempo of their songs and made it a whole new experience than listening to the albums. Spindrifter was gnarly as well,it is nice to see that good music still exists. Bravo To the max.
This was the single greatest live show I have ever been to. Seriously, Courtney was energetic and flawless in his vocals as well as his physical show. Zia was beautiful and great as usual. Pete wailed on the guitar, and fathead pounded those drums. I've seen the Dandys three times now and each show was better than the last. Bottom line, Dandys rule, OK?
Cool, great show. Nice stuff with a good playlist.
Opening band was surprisingly amazing. I loved the videos that went with their music. During their set, members of the DW were wandering around the bar, chatting with fans. That was very cool of them. Their show was also amazing. Played a lot of early stuff (Come Down was well represented). CTT was funny and personable. I loved his solo version of Holiday. Excellent show!
Awesome as usual. The Dandys dont disappoint. I cant wait to hear the cover of MJ's "Freebird" next time out.
Best fun I've had since Oasis at Maxwell's in Hoboken back in '94 - despite the lack of alcohol. Saw 'em at Wiltern last year - great also; they don't have to play small joints like this, but dang if it ain't great that they do. Just for the pure FUN of it. The guys are loose and tight, and they're doin it right. beautiful.
Good show. Really good show. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppoo.
As always, the Dandys put on a great show. I was being particularly aware of the quality of the show since it was my 11-year old son's very first concert. There was, as usually, plenty of energy, engagement, and tunefulness from the band. The mix, however, was one of the worst I've ever hear heard at a professional show. Some of the songs were unrecognizable. My son said he only got about 1/2 of the show whereas I know he knew most of the songs. This was my third Dandy Warhols show and they sound much, much better than this. Still, go see the Dandys. They rule, OK?
Last time I saw the Dandy's was in LA....and the show was a little out there--kinda trippy....was disappointed......This last show at the Glass House was awesome....the band sounded tight, they played new and old songs, they were interacting with the crowd. Deff was stoked to be there...looking forward to whatever comes next!!!
I've seen the Dandy Warhols many times and this was the best, although I did not care at all for the venue.
I have been going to concerts since I was in middle school. My first concert was with the Seeds and Buffalo Springfield opening for The Supremes at the Hollywood Bowl. I think I know a little about live music. The Dandy Warhols were amazing. I have been following this group for a few years but never had the opportunity to experience them live. Some groups seem to struggle, whether it's with equipment or personnel or the audience. There was none of that with the Warhols. They really appeared to enjoy every moment of their performance, as did the rest of us. I am always amazed how the really great groups can always seem to keep things fresh, night after night of touring across country. I would suggest that you check out their website. There you will find tour dates and locations, as well as other odd and interesting stuff. I guarantee you will have a truly fun experience, and if you don't it's your own fault, or your pharmacists!
