About

Formed in Portland, Oregon, the Dandy Warhols released their first full-length album, Dandy's Rule OK?, in 1995, a unique mix of quirky pop, power guitar and clever lyrics. The group attained more widespread success, especially in Europe, with the release of their second album, Dandy Warhols Come Down, featuring the popular single "Not if You Were the Last Junkie on Earth." With a new drummer onboard, the group released their third album, Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia, to much acclaim in 2000. The track "Bohemian Like You" became a favorite among indie rock listeners and appeared on numerous film and television soundtracks, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Six Feet Under. 2003 saw the release of the group's fourth album, Welcome to the Monkey House, co-produced by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran. The synth-heavy, new wave-influenced album was conceived as a tribute to Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s short story collection of the same name. The group returned to more guitar-driven songs with Odditorium or Warlords of Mars, released in 2005.

    Great set by the Dandy's

by Chuck on 3/2/23Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

Had the pleasure of seeing the band in London last year at a really great venue so when they played within 2 hours of where I lived, I knew I needed to give them another chance for another great set. The sound at Center Stage is really good and the set was even better than the Roundhouse in London. Having a much smaller crowd made it much more enjoyable. I will definitely go see more shows at Center Stage. Nice sized venue. The Dandy's are a really good live band even after 25 years of touring. Go see them if you have a chance.

    Fantastic Performance

    by W. P. on 2/28/23

The Dandy Warhols did not disappoint. Their show felt super authentic and I appreciated their desire to simply play good music. Everything sounded awesome. I'll go see them anytime they come back to town!

    DANDY'S RULE OK

by opquaker on 5/12/19The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I waited 25 years for this moment. I had to drive from Western New York to Toronto, because they don't play where I live, and the Toronto shows always sold out before I could get tickets, but this year I got lucky. It was everything I could ever hope for. I met Courtney and Brent before the show. The show itself was amazing. They play great live. 18 songs covering their career. Coming out of the venue I met Zia, and she was gracious enough to talk with me and take a couple of pictures. Best day of the year. I hope I get to see them again.

    Best Show in 25 Years!!!!!

by TollingBell on 5/12/19The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This was my 5th Dandies show in Canada. As you know, like the Hip- you haven't heard the Dandies until you witnessed them LIVE. This was BY FAR the best Dandies show I've seen. As you know they usually play a song, Courtney rambles a little..., they play a song..., Courtney rambles a little or chats with Zia. NONE of that tonight. It was a MASSIVE SONIC JAM SESSION. Obviously taking 25 years of music and trying to fit every single great song into the set was impossible- so they more than made up for the relative brevity of selecting maybe 15 songs by turning almost each song into a huge JAM. It was like seeing God. The sound was Massive, ( Massive Attack massive.) Just MASSIVE!!!! The Dandies were SO in control of their game and SO sonically charged- It was a true joy to behold true greatness in action. There is nothing like a jam-packed DANFORTH singing "I Love You" for 10-15 minutes along with the jam to make you feel at 1 with the Universe....

    What a great Idea.....

    by 60+Rocker on 5/7/19The Masquerade - Atlanta

Having a FULL run through of a new show/songs the night before to work out the bugs for $25!!! It also meant I didn't have to go to to an awful outdoor festival and all the negatives[short sets being one thing] that entails. The performance was raw and experimental, which I enjoyed having seen them over 7 times before. Felt bad for the sound guy as he was having a rough night with the vocals, but that's all part of the unique experience. I hope they continue to do this because i will NEVER go to another outdoor monster event again.

    Great Show

by Jimwheeler on 10/13/16Delmar Hall - Saint Louis

Fantastic show, what a set up! Great view and sound! Almost a nightmare getting there and finding out I had the wrong tickets. If not for Katie my concert guardian angel I would have completely bummed out! Instead Katie searched the database, found my ticket purchase and printed out new tickets for me. I love The Delmar Hall, The Dandy Warhols and most of all my angel Katie. (Hope I'm spelling her name correctly) Joe, if you read these, give Katie a raise, or at least a bonus! I've owned and managed several business over the last 40 yrs and finding people like Katie that really care for customers is the biggest challenge you have. You not only have set up the premier concert venues in St Louis, you have hired some great people with the right attitude. Congratulations Joe Edwards and thank you Katie!

    The Dandy Warhols Rule!

by Lipstick07 on 10/12/16Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

The Dandy Warhols were absolutely fantastic and mesmerizing. I was so happy that they finally made it down to Florida and can't wait for them to return. I just wish they had played for an additional few hours because they have so many great songs and they just couldn't get to so many of my favorites. Everything they did play sounded really great and everyone in the band couldn't have been any better. Courtney Taylor-Taylor is such a super cool lead singer and Zia McCabe is equally cool and adorable. Peter Holstrom rocked the house down and Brent DeBoer was fabulous. For me this was the Coolest concert since seeing Iggy Pop a few months ago. Since Bowie is gone now I am grateful to groups like the Dandys who can still get me excited. Thanks for the music!

    FINALLY!

by SonOfGillean on 10/7/16Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

I finally checked off another of my "must-see-before-I-die" bands. This band never came close to any place I was, and they toured extensively overseas. They opened with "Be In", my favorite song. Zia is cuter than her pix. Really enjoyed the show while drinking some fantastic IPA- Cigar City Jai Lai.

Amazing club show was all sex drugs & rock n roll

by fromthattime on 10/6/16State Theatre - St Petersburg

Great mix of sound & song, perfect set list pulled from their entire discography. Never a dull moment and the band was in great form. Great to see they had new vinyl in tow for the merch. And actually their merch is better than many of the big names I've seen. You want a Dandy Warhols distortion pedal? Yeah they got it. And how cool is that? The only downer was no encore.

Great Band Great Show! The Dandy Warhols never let you down, just really great grooves with real heart behind them. First Florida visit in 19 years but worth the wait, not that I waited. Also got to meet Brent and Court before show and couldn't have been nicer...

Great show at a great venue

    by Rick53 on 4/19/16The Sinclair - Cambridge

The Dandy Warhol's never fail to give a great show. Courtney Taylor-Taylor was in great voice and they played a great set list of all our favorites. The Sinclair in Harvard Square is one of our favorite venues. Easy parking right across the street and good viewing from just about anywhere in the place.

dandy warhols great, the Sinclair was not

    by tony3456 on 4/18/16The Sinclair - Cambridge

The band was great, they always are, but the sound was too loud and often distorted. Small club with lots of opportunity, and the lights were great, but bad sound roughy experience down. I probably won't be returning to Sinclair anytime soon.

    Dandys too late, too loud

by raverxyz on 4/18/16The Sinclair - Cambridge

At the Sinclair (Cambridge, MA) on 4/15/16, the Dandy Warhols did not come on until 10:20. The show was scheduled for 8 pm. That's what the ticket said. The (unremarkable) warm-up band came on at 9 pm. This seems inconsiderate to me. The Dandys could have done an on-time set, then taken a long break for the later crowd. Both the Dandys and the warm-up were far too loud. I had to wear ear-plugs, and even those were insufficient for the amped-up bass keyboard. I see a lot of shows (for instance, I just saw Joe Satriani at the Orpheum), and I expect R&R to be loud. But this was eardrum-damage loud. That said, I like the drone / mesmerizing effect of the Dandys, who did some nice extended jams. Maybe a live album, so we can choose the volume and keep our eardrums intact.

    amazing, amazing show

by wirystylus on 4/15/16Bowery Ballroom - New York

If you're a Dandy Warhol fan, even if you're not, you must see them live. I've been a fan for years, introduced to them from a documentary made several years back as they broached main stream success here in the states and more so in Europe. They are a very, very tight band and broadcast this trippy, psychedelic brand of rock - that is fun, dreamy and moving. Zia makes the show with her presence - but all the band members are locked into the music - and the audience goes right there with them. I would travel to see these guys again. Just a great experience and a great show.
