A Truly Wonderful Night
by Josh on 7/23/24State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5If I could rate this show higher than 5 stars I would do so in a heartbeat. The venue was gorgeous, the lines for entry and merchandise were quick, and the show started right on time. The opening act, Yasmin Williams, was one of the most technically proficient and talented musicians I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. However, The Crane Wives were able to top all of this and more. Their set was one of the most entertaining, passionate nights of music I have seen. They played well together as a band and were a delight to watch on stage. What has stuck with me the most since the show was the overwhelming joy that filled the concert hall that night. It was clear that every single member of the band was so happy and grateful to be there, and their beaming smiles and joyous attitude was absolutely infectious. I couldn't help but feel warm and happy the whole set, which then helped me to connect even deeper with the music. After leaving the show my voice did not recover until the next evening, because I spent the whole night singing my heart out along with the band and what seemed like every other person in the venue! This was a night that I will not soon forget, and I am so grateful that I got to spend my time and money on such a happy night with such great performers.
