The Chicks in Concert
For nearly three decades, Natalie Maines, Emily Robison, and Marie Maguire have been wowing audiences with their decidedly modern take on classic country, channeling the boldness of past greats like Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton while adding hints of fiddle and banjo to robust, harmony-rich pop gems. Their lengthy career has led to collaborations with fellow Texan Beyoncé on her country-fried ‘Lemonade' track "Daddy Lessons" and providing harmonies for comedy hero—and bluegrass champion—Steve Martin on the gorgeous ballad "You," while also captivating audiences around the world with their astonishing talent and seamless update of classic Americana.
Formed in Dallas in 1989, The Chicks (formerly known as "The Dixie Chicks") began as a bluegrass band, with sisters Maguire and Robison showing off their instrumental talents (Maguire's know-how includes double bass, mandolin, and viola; Robison's repertoire includes dobro, lap steel, and sitar) on bluegrass and country chestnuts. As the Chicks' stature grew, their music added more contemporary touches, which led to Lubbock-born Natalie Maines joining the group as lead singer in 1995. ‘Wide Open Spaces,' the group's rollicking, major-label debut and first album with Maines on vocals, was a smash critically and commercially, winning the 1999 Grammy for Best Country Album, selling 12 million copies, and launching three singles, including the title track and the rueful "There's Your Trouble," to the top spot on Billboard's Country Songs chart. ‘Fly,' released in 2000, also won the Best Country Album Grammy, and singles like the vengeful "Goodbye Earl" and the longing "Without You" became touchstones for 21st-century Nashville; ‘Home,' its 2002 follow-up, featured the group's crystalline reinvention of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" and their wartime chronicle "Travelin' Soldier." While the Chicks haven't released a studio album since 2006's ‘Taking the Long Way,' the group's resilience and continued honing of their craft shine on the 2017 live album ‘DCX MMXVI Live,' a memento of their 2015-2016 tour where they showcased a wide range of influences, covering not only Beyoncé but punk-blues duo The White Stripes and neo-miserablist Lana Del Rey in between renditions of their indelible hits.

They are truly amazing singers songwriters and musicians. LOVE both new and old music. SUCH a GREAT show! Hope to see them in the future as well!
The Chicks were amazing in Nashville!!! Such an electric atmosphere! From vocals to music, everything was on point! What a night!
The concert was great until towards the end with the push of political views. It was obvious that many people became uncomfortable. A concert is a time to enjoy great music and vibe! Not a proper situation to discuss politics and push those views. My group was highly disappointed in this and honestly probably won’t listen to the chicks anymore due to it.
This was one of the best shows ever! The crowd was bumped and loud! The Chicks did not disappoint. I highly recommend any fan to attend their shows!
Fantastic show! The band was amazing. It was wonderful to see them live - it was my first Chicks concert, finally! Also, the venue was great. Plenty of and convenient vending and restrooms. The sound and video was great, too.
I am so grateful for the Chicks and the way that their music opens a space to empower and to heal in a world often rife with violence and hate. This was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. I will try to see the Chicks again, and again.
Great music, lots of energy on stage!! The Chicjs are super talented! Love their music, but leave the politics out!!
The Chicks somehow put on a show that gives you everything you want but also leaves you wanting more!! Amazing songs and performances. They really connect with the audience and sound fantastic live. A great experience!!
Nashville - was so epically excited - Cancelled and Rescheduled. Rebook - Girlz nite out, 7 of us ready to sing our heads off. So very excited. Opening act did not do the show any justice. (Yawn) Then here come the Chicks. The place went wild. Soon it was a disappointment with new political music hardly know one knew the words to. They threw us a 90s bone every once in a while but not enough for the fans. The videos caused some to leave. Hurt my heart as we all were ready to sing all night to songs we knew without a political agenda. So glad the night ended with “Earl” as it was just about the highlight of the show. I truly love the “Dixie” Chicks, been a huge fan for years but this show disappointed. 😢
The show was absolutely fantastically fabulous. First Chicks concert well first country music concert and I wasn’t slightly disappointed. Opportunity comes again I’m all in.
It was everything I needed it to be. The chicks kicked butt and made it worth the wait.
Disappointed they didn't play the popular ones I know, I actually left early
The Chicks are Angry & A Buzz kill with all the Liberal & man hating. It's mostly Natalie the way I see it and the sister are just stuck with her. Their normal songs are great, very talented ladies but come on we did not pay to come to Natalie's Pitty Party. Would not return to see them. Bridgetone Arena was Wonderful !
Concert was pretty good. The vocals needed to be a little louder bc the music was over the voice at times. Also like their music but please just sing and keep the politics outs of it. We just came to see the chicks not all the other stuff.
This was like a dream. Brought my youngest daughter (29) we are both big fans and this was a bucket list item for me. We were front and center and it was the best concert I have been to this year and I have been to 5 so far!! Great performance! I loved everything about this experience. Thank you!!!
Awesome performance!! Exceptionally talented artists!!
I want to start by saying that Wild Rivers was amazing. If they had not been the opener after the date change I would have sold my tickets. I have seen them before and they are amazingly talented. The Chicks were good not great. First off it took forever for them to come out and play. Because this show was originally in the summer this caused my wife and I some stress. My wife is a teacher. The original date was in summer which made things easier for my wife but we struggled with the time and ended up leaving early. I was not really up to date on the newer music from the Chicks and they opened with five of their first six songs being new. You could definitely tell that the crowd was less than enthusiastic with this. The newer stuff had a sad feel. When they did play older peppier music the crowd really got into it and seemed to enjoy it.
The Chicks put on a fantastic show! I grew up listening to them and was thrilled to sing along to their new and old songs. We did have some rude people in front of us who did not like the political bits of the concert and attempted to video my sister and me after they realized we were laughing at the political bits. They were slightly rude and unenjoyable to be around but we did not let that ruin our fun!
The Chicks have not lost their sound at all still put on a great show and sound great!! They keep going for 2 hours start to finish it was wonderful.
