About

Superstars come and go. Cher is forever.

For six straight decades, only one unstoppable force has flat-out dominated popular culture — breaking down barriers, pushing boundaries, and letting nothing and no one stand in her way.

The Cher Show is her story, and it's packed with so much Cher that it takes three women to play her: The kid starting out, the glam pop star and the icon. The Cher Show is 35 smash hits, six decades of stardom, two rock-star husbands, a Grammy, an Oscar, an Emmy, and enough Bob Mackie gowns to cause a sequins shortage in New York City, all in one unabashedly fabulous new musical.

    So much fun

by Nancy on 12/31/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

The music and costumes were great. Loved the storyline and how it was presented. Singing along to the music and really feeling some of Cher’s emotions as she went through life. Loved it.

    Block and Choreo are Great!

by S. S. on 12/30/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Block is fantastic as are most of the lead actors. The choreography is spectacular, particularly the “Dark Lady” ballet (although it stops the show cold and is not really needed). But the book is weak. Very weak. Almost as weak as SUMMER last season. I would have preferred one Cher only and no narration. BEAUTIFUL is the best example on how to craft a bio-Musical like this.

    Highly entertaining

by Mark from Dallas on 12/30/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Thoroughly entertaining show 😎 The first half was truly captivating as it went through phases of Cher’s life I didn’t know about. The second half was very good, but I felt like the importance of her movie career was too quick. The part with Rob was not necessary....in my opinion. See it!! You tell me🎭

Some parts were good, some were ok. The eldest Cher great!

by L. C. on 12/29/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

It was okay. The eldest Cher was the best; the youngest Cher was meh... The only Broadway show I have seen that I do not want to see again.

My husband and I truly enjoyed the show, it was a terrific performance, the only thing the performers should of had a more of Cher facial look, otherwise we loved it...

    Cheralyn becomes Cher!

by Estee on 12/29/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Very enjoyable, realistic presentation of Cher’s life from a troubled childhood, a rebellious adolescence, two marriages, fame, loss of fame and the regaining of fame. I was totally engrossed in the two hour musical. Especially, I was impressed with seeing the emergence of Cher from an awkward bullied child, to a beautiful, independent, polished performer. Her development was well chronicled through her early relationship and marriage to Sonny, her break with Sonny, her second marriage to Allman and finally her total independence as the beautiful and accomplished Cher. Now, 72, I say to Cher, bravo!

    Great Show!

by JoAnn on 12/27/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Went to see The Cher Show with a friend & we both loved it. Of course the music was great - but the stars of the show were excellent - especially Stephanie J. Block who played "Star". She not only sounded like Cher when she sang, but she sounded like Cher when she spoke & had all of Cher's mannerisms. If you want to see a fun show, go see The Cher Show.

    Amazing

by Liz on 12/27/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

The show was amazing. The story telling was funny and authentic. I teared up and I laughed out loud. The entertainment factor was WOW! The 3 leading females portraying various time periods in her life were great! My sister and I whom I took to the show, grew up in a household that watched the Sonny and Cher show and stayed true fans forever. It was such a treat! I would go see it again!

    The Cher Show

by K. S. on 12/26/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

While I loved the concept of this show, (ie; the story telling of her life, costumes) I didn’t find myself bursting with wanting to dance in the isles. I’m 67 y/o and I’ve watched Sonny and Cher and just Cher since their beginning. Cher is a hard act to follow. The 3 Cher’s did a good job, especially the oldest Cher. Something just left me wanting something different. Again, there’s no one like Cher.

    ELECTRIC!

by Thomrw on 12/25/18Neil Simon Theatre - New York

I experienced THE CHER SHOW on Broadway yesterday afternoon. In a word I will describe it as electric!!!! Many of the New York theatre critics were not very kind to this extravaganza, yet I will beg to differ from their snooty attitude that all Broadway shows required a very defined story line, original music (ha!) and good acting. Well this show certainly has the last two, but I will have to say the story line was a mish mash of ancient past, later past and most recent past. I give them a pass on this, because the bottom line is, you don’t go to see a show like this and expect Albee or Miller! The three thrilling actresses who play Cher at different times of her life were absolutely incredible. And by that I mean they became Cher, not just a mimic. If you love Cher (who doesn’t???), the nostalgia of the playlist will simply tickle every funny bone in your body. The sets and lighting were oh so Cher ala Las Vegas with neon blazing for days! And of course one highlight are the over-the-top costumes by Cher’s longtime friend and designer, Bob Mackey! (Yes we get to see that famous 1986 Oscar ostrich she wore). It was apparent from the audience reaction during the entire show that this was right up there with Bette Midler and Bernadette Peter’s performances in Hello Dolly. I can’t imagine one single person was disappointed in this fabulous spectacle. The first act finale and the final scene at the very end had us all leaping to our feet with unbridled admiration. Simply put: ELECTRIC! (**** ½ * out of 5*)
