About

Who explores a coral reef, plays in an octopus’s garden, and joins the jellyfish ballet – all before snack time?  The Backyardigans! Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha, Uniqua and Austin are back on stage, singing and dancing and ready to plunge sea deep into adventure. Dive into the action as these five friends explore clues, discover underwater magic, and match wits with an all-too-tidy octopus and a pair of playful (but messy!) dolphins. With a splashy range of song-and-dance styles to wade along to – including psychedelic soul, Bollywood, bossa nova, and more – our heroes save the day.

    Painfully Boring

by Stefalae on 9/23/09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This could have been held at the mall. The audience was not captivated at all. The TV show is full of fantastic graphics. This performance was very boring ,just puppets dancing around on stage, the sound was horrible could not hear them therefore did not know what the story was. Very elementary performance. Big dissappointment. Have been to other children's show which were awesome. NOT THIS ONE! TWO THUMBS DOWN!!!!!

Backyardigans is great for kids 2-9

by zacsdaddy on 9/23/09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Hey all, Over all my 3 year old son loved it. I found the sound was a little low when the cast was not singing. The actress who played the octopuss the voise was a little high and very anyyoying but again my son loved it. We sat in the 1st row in the 1st balcony and could see everything perfectly. It wasn't as interactive as I would have hoped but as I said I would fully reccomend this to any one with kids. Just my thoughts,,,,,,

    Don't waste your money

by SupremelyDisappointed on 9/23/09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This was probably the worst kids show I've been to. The set decoration was so minimal they might as well not have bothered. The songs at the start were exceedingly slow and so boring that my son who is the biggest Backyardigans fan, was asking when we could leave. The second half picked up a bit with the music but when the kids finally started dancing - all the ushers were running around the Jubilee auditorium telling all the kids to sit down for safety reasons. What a drag. Don't waste your money on this show - buy the videos, they're way better.

I took my 3 and 5 year old to it, and I wasn't dissapointed. The costumes were great, the story was captivating and they had a great mix of old and new. I would take them again!

    Backyardigans make a splash!

by tvlife on 9/15/09The Centre In Vancouver for Performing Arts - Vancouver

The Backyardigans "Sea Deep in Adventure" was filled with catchy kids tunes & bright colourful backgrounds, making this a must "sea" for any young children. The costumed characters looked great & huggable and the songs were all new, so kids weren't bored with listening to the same old tunes from the tv show. My only complaint...it would've been nice if they cast came down from the stage and allowed the kids a quick chance to see them up close & personal, if even for a moment.

    The Backyardigans were delightful!

by Kath3 on 9/14/09The Centre In Vancouver for Performing Arts - Vancouver

Both of my 5 year old granddaughters loved it! One even asked if the dolphin was a human being - she obviously believed the Backyardigans were "real." As a retired teacher used to seeing productions for children, I thought this show was well done - it certainly satisfied the audience to whom it was directed. They were all singing and dancing along to the music and my girls had no trouble following the story line. I especially liked the way the background screens helped change scenes since there were only a few set pieces on stage. The submarine was charming and the "bubbles" to the surface were cleverly done. I recommend this production to preschoolers and older children who have a well developed imagination.

    Too much talking

by Ahyan on 9/13/09Bell Performing Arts Centre - Surrey

For toddlers, this show has too much talking. Production is average. Characters are big enough for attract kids.
