Simply put, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is the best live show I've ever seen, and this is coming from someone who has seen many great live bands over the past couple years. Hell, AGT was actually my second show of the night, with the first being The Kills earlier that night at a different venue(who were also mind-blowing). AGT's live performances consist of five guys on a wide variety of instruments, including the usual drums, keyboards guitar, etc. but also featured trumpets, a flute, and I'm pretty sure there was a saxophone in there somewhere too. And of course, I can't forget the lovely and spectacular Mette Lindberg, who has one of the most unique voices I've ever heard, and who sounds nearly identical to the studio recordings, not to mention her great personality on-stage. Her voice and all the instruments come together to put out some amazing sound.
As far as the setlist went, a little less than half the songs they played were from the new album, all of which were amazing. I'm generally one of those guys who mainly just stands around, takes in the music, and doesn't move much, but I was completely into it just a few songs in. The fact that the crowd was going nuts and that I was only a few feet from the stage probably helped too. The venue itself was a little cramped, and uncomfortably warm, but I didn't care in the slightest, and would've payed twice the original cost to see it again, right then and there! If you're even the slightest fan of this band, and have maybe heard only The Golden Age or Around the Bend, you just have to catch these guys, and girl, sometime.
