About

THE AMITY AFFLICTION IN CONCERT:

The Amity Affliction is a hardcore punk collective that’s taking their native Australia by storm with fast-paced music and intense live shows. Whether they’re tearing through the growl-filled track “Pittsburgh” or getting fans to mosh and sing along, the band delivers one energy-fueled performance after another for crowd-surfing fans.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Amity Affliction was formed by high school friends Ahren Stringer and Troy Brady in 2003. After playing concerts on campus, they started to take their music more seriously and added two more members – classmates Garth Buchanan and Lachlan Faulkner – to the lineup. The group embarked on a tour to support their 2005 debut EP and began to introduce their music to legions of fans around Australia. They spent the next few years honing their craft and in 2008 they released their full-length debut Severed Ties, which peaked at No. 6 on the Australian Artists Albums chart and launched major tours with the Getaway Plan and Elora Danan. Since then the Amity Affliction has released three more popular albums – including the chart-topping albums Chasing Ghosts (2012) and Let the Ocean Take Me (2014) – played major festivals like Warped Tour, and headlined several dates of their own, at venues like The Fillmore (Philadelphia). On tour the Amity Affliction continues to deliver gripping, revved-up live performances that no fan of punk will want to miss.

    Amity Affliction sounds AMAZING live!

by linacandle on 10/20/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

The venue had me worried about the quality of sound, given the trouble that the first bands seemed to have. But Amity Affliction sounded so good, I questioned if it was a recording. But as the concert went on and the 'screamo' singer started to lose his voice, it was clear they really just were that good! I would love to see them again!

    Amity was amazing!

by josiahs2 on 10/4/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

Amity had a great show but the only problem I had was that the opening acts played longer than Amity did. Other than that I had a phenomenal experience and I don't regret going!

Technical issues the whole time. Overall Amazing performance. The crowd surfing got kind of annoying but that's most shows

    Amity Affliction amazing as always!!

by xheatherkillsx on 9/24/16Masquerade - Atlanta

They played so many great songs, the energy was amazing. The sound system at the venue has never been very good, but Amity made the best out of it. It ended up feeling nostalgic more like seeing your favorite local band even tho these guys are from half way around the world. I am so glad I made the four hour drive to see them! They are perfection.

They're better every time I see them!

by MrNumber9 on 11/5/15Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I've seen The Amity Affliction many times live and they're always great. I think though, that this is the first time they've headlined a show in the states. I could be wrong, but I think I'm right on this. The Paradise was a great place to see them because of the size of the venue. It was a Sunday night, but the crowd was really into pretty much every band from the beginning, which is rare. The strangest part of the tour was the difference in genres of the bands with The Amity Affliction. The Plot in You opened and I thought they sounded much better live than on their albums. Cruel Hand was up next, but I'm not a fan of the hardcore punk vocals. I thought their guitar work was a lot of fun though. Secrets brought back the post-hardcore/metalcore/screamo style and their new screamer was pretty good. I'm looking forward to their new album. The strangest addition to the tour (in my opinion) was Chelsea Grin who are straight up deathcore. I do not like deathcore, haha. I was really surprised at how many people were really into them and that they were the last opener. It felt like they were on forever! Finally, The Amity Affliction hit the stage. They had much more room to work now and they used it well. The screams/grows and melodic cleans came out really well. The crowd was completely into it and sang along with pretty much everything. Unfortunately, it felt like they played less time than Chelsea Grin. Even though they put on another great show, I was surprised they didn't play any of their older work. Maybe it has to do with the subjects of their older music, but there was some really great stuff I'd like to hear live again sometime. All in all they put on another awesome show. Definitely go see them if you get the chance.

    All the bands were amazing!!

by QWERp on 10/29/15Paradise Rock Club - Boston

There were 4 bands that played before Amity and they were all amazing. The crowd was so pumped and energetic. The bands played extremely well and were so kind during meet 'n greets. Amity was AMAZING, the set up and set list was the bomb. They were responsive to the crowd and made everyone's night :D The venue was also really nice.

    Best Amity Concert yet!

by SynSilvers on 10/23/15Masquerade - Atlanta

I've been to two Amity Concerts and they keep getting better. A little sketched out by the crowd at first but i quickly realized there was nothing to worry about. Everyone was nice and would help people who had fallen. Went crowd surfing which was a new experience!

Show was absolutely amazing! My only complaint is that Amity did not play long enough. They left out some of their best songs.

by TAAfan on 10/20/14Masquerade - Atlanta

I saw the Amity Affliction on October 16th. It was better than I imagined it would be. I had a perfect spot in the crowd. The opening bands were so good. Amity played all my favorite songs. It was literally the best night of my life watching my absolute favorite band. Perfect.

    The Amity Affliction rocks

    by H0llyxMarie on 10/16/14The Basement - Columbus

The Amity Affliction was so great live, I just wish that they had been able to play longer. The venue was alright, pretty small. If you're going to The Basement for a future concert, make sure you get there early to get a good spot. Also, the venue shouldn't invite so many local bands to play. There was only supposed to be four bands playing- including The Amity Affliction. The venue had three local bands play, and Amity didn't come on until 10:15. I guess a good thing is that you don't have to worry about missing the main band if you want to skip the lines.

they were honestly amazing...if you like how they sound on their album, you will be just as impressed when you see them life. They have so much energy, and know exactly how to excite the crowd...excited to see them in concert again
