About

The Allman Betts Band on Tour

When Devon Allman and Duane Betts come together to carry the torch that their fathers — Gregg and Dickey, respectively — bore for so many years, they do it their own way. Sure, they bring classic Allman Brothers Band tunes like "Ain't Wastin' Time No More," "Jessica," "Midnight Rider" and "Blue Sky" to the stage with a sound and spirit that will make their fathers' fans misty. But this is no tribute act. In addition to breathing new life into the old material, they offer up their own tunes, influenced by old-school Southern rock but bearing an undeniably original feel. And along the way they take songs by other artists, from John Lee Hooker to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and put their own roots-rocking stamp on them. Between Devon's pipes and Duane's guitar, old spirits are conjured in an Allman Betts Band concert, but new fires are stoked as well.

The Allman Betts Band in Concert

When Gregg Allman passed away in 2017, the loss ended any chance for the Allman Brothers Band to ever take the stage again. But two men found a way to move the spirit of the ABB into a new era. These musicians are an undeniable part of the band's legacy even though they were never actually members of the band. Gregg's son Devon Allman joined forces with Duane Betts, son of legendary Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts, to form The Allman Betts Band. Devon's soulful voice and Duane's fiery guitar work represent the next chapter in a Southern rock story that started with their parents back in Georgia in the late 1960s. There's even a third Allman Brothers Band offspring in the Allman Betts Band — Berry Oakley Jr., whose dad was the former's founding bassist. Those who mourn the Allman Brothers Band will find cause to rejoice in The Allman Betts Band, as not just a rekindling of old memories but a powerful path forward.

Loved the show. Devon and Duane played with heart and passion. I feel like they and the band connected with the audience. I love their music because of how it makes me feel. Its unique and yet an extension of the Allman Brothers Band. I saw the Allman Brothers 27 times over a 30 year period. Best band in the history of music in my opinion. Saw Duane's Dad 3 times on his own with Great Southern. Its so cool to see Duane with that classic gold Les Paul jamming away. The band rolled in Aint Wastin Time No More, Blue Sky and In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. Going to buy thier new album so I can get into the flow of who Devon and Duane are now. Loved that they came out and shook hands at the end of the show. Will see them again in Arizona in September. Keep rocking Duane, Devon and your band...and Berry's son too, sorry I forgot to mention him earlier! Gotta think Greg, Duane, Butch and Berry are looking down from Heaven and lovin what they are hearing!

This was my first concert at the stifle theater and it was great. Really enjoyed the venue. The band was great! They played their own songs interspersed with cover songs, mostly from their fathers. I was pleasantly surprised how much duane betts played like his father. Three great guitar player's, keyboardist and two drummers!

  • Excellent soithern rock.

Awesome show in an awesome venue. They played originals and Allman Brothers tunes. The place was packed and felt like the shows the Brothers used to do at the Beacon in NYC. Can't wait till they come back to town.

The Allman Betts Band put on a great show. Their Allman Brother's songs were spot on and very authentic. Their own new music was very good as well. These guys really brought it!

They are amazing writers, singers and musicians. I did not know any of their solo or joint material but have been a lifelong Allman Brothers fan. Their solo songs as well as the new stuff they are writing together were the grooving, interesting, smoking hot music I love. I look forward to their album and seeing tgem MANY more times!!!!

Absolutely fantastic show. Devon, Duane and Berry Jr. played their hearts out. They performed a few originals and some chestnuts from the Allman Brothers such as Blue Sky, Dreams, Ain’t Wasting Time, Seven Turns Jessica and Greggs song to Devon’s mom, MultiColored Lady. They ended the show with the Dead’s Shakedown Street

  • Allman Betts Band

by DZ on 4/7/19The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Paramount concert: what can I say? They were tight , sound perfect, rocked, soulful, honest artists no effects just the sons & fellow band members incl jonny in slide & Oakly jr on bass & vocals. A great mix of rock, country & blues which is in their dna.

  • A mixture of my youth and today-both were amazing!

by Sully on 4/7/19The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Devon Allman was a mix of Dad and himself, great job. Duane Betts can really play, and Berry Oakley jr. Just was the cherry on top.

  • It was a great show put on by the band!

    by L. F. on 4/7/19The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

It was all good except the GA area where many rude, disrespectful, body-building MEN pushed and shoved their way to getting closer to the stage so they could see better. They were much taller, and as mentioned already, bigger than me and my friend. Unbelievable lack of etiquette today!

  • They have superb genes!!

by Shoedog on 4/7/19The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We had a wonderful experience hearing the Allman Betts Band perform live @ the Paramount. They gave us about 2/3 of their own music which was delightful. The other third of their performance was, of course, Allman Bros music. All was exceptional, the 'Dreams' cover was killer!! They also played for a total time of 2:10h. We enjoyed them so much that we just booked them for their upcoming performance in Norwalk, CT on July 7th. Can't wait
