About

THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT IN CONCERT:

Back in 2008, the Airborne Toxic Event infiltrated the airwaves with their driving rock number "Sometime Around Midnight," generating significant buzz and receiving the seal of approval from none other than U2. Today, the Airborne Toxic Event leave fans awestruck with lush viola melodies and catchy guitar riffs during their fierce live shows. The band's performances wouldn't be complete without signature hits like "Changing" as they treat audiences to a fan-oriented show on their exciting string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Los Angeles native Mikel Jollett began penning songs after a series of unfortunate life events occurred in 2006, coincidentally meeting drummer Daren Taylor around the same time and thus forming the Airborne Toxic Event. Through mutual friends and chance encounters, keyboardist Steven Chen, upright bassist Noah Harmon, and viola player Anna Bulbrook were added to the lineup, resulting in the band's signature orchestral rock sound. Their 2008 debut album was met with favorable reviews and spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, followed by extensive touring and regular late-night talk show appearances. 2011's All At Once peaked at No. 5 on the US Rock charts and 2013's Such Hot Blood followed soon after, both receiving acclaim among popular music blogs and magazines. The Airborne Toxic Event packs a serious punch live and are sure to have audiences rocking out at their festival dates in 2014.

    What a pleasant surprise!

by MandiePJs on 9/24/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

I brought my boyfriend to this concert for his birthday and I was only familiar with the Arctic Monkeys. I hadn't even heard of Airborne Toxic Event, and I was really impressed with their music! I didn't get to see the Henry Clay People perform unfortunately, but the Arctic Monkeys and ATE were both amazing! The show was so much fun, and the Ogden Theatre is a great venue! Everything was reasonably priced (tickets, drinks, etc.) so that was a plus as well. The only inconvenience was finding a place to park. Overall, this was an awesome night and I'd love to see both of these groups again!

    The airborne toxic who

    by Deleon101 on 9/24/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Months prior to the show me and my fellow show going comrade were unsure of who exactly The Airborne Toxic Event was. And in which case it dosnt even matter being there the opening band for the Arctic Monkeys. Which is why we were suprised and shocked to see big bold headling letters spelling The Airborne Toxic Event on our tickets with the sub title of the arctic monkeys. Being advid Arctic Monkey fans the show last night was amazing as expected. Alex and the boys put on an amazing show besides the bad time slot and the obivious symptoms of tour fatigue. That being said it was still a dead on great as expected performance for the Arctic Monkeys. Hearing older songs like dancing shoes and even songs from there favorite worst nightmare album really showed they havent gotten to old to rock a crowd. Also there newer more james bond style theme music was also a treat to listen to. Although theres a lot of words being said about there new album, crying lighting there first single was a crowd pleaser. As for The Airborne Toxic Event i heard alot of people say they do put on a really good live show. So i of course was open minded and curious to hear this band. Were they really a deserving headliner. Well the Answer is no. They had some catchy guitar riffs and some and pre packaged stage presence but nother ground breaking. They reminded me of a wanna be arcade fire or a late 90s almost older smashing pumpkins cover band. They Would have made a good opening band for the arctic monkeys. All in all it was a good crowd and A show for what is was.

    They played early

by Patricionado on 9/24/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

The concert started not at 8, but like 7, so we missed half of the Arctic Monkeys show, which was the only reason we came. Bogus!!

Airborne Toxic Event - Arctic Monkeys Ogden show

    by Humbug168 on 9/24/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

I really came to the Ogden Theater to see the Arctic Monkeys, as I have been a fan for much longer than that of The Airborne Toxic Event. Of the two bands, I still think AM's music is better composed, and lyrics more cleverly written. However their stage presence leaves something to be desired. It felt like the crowd was invited to attend a rehearsal for the show, rather than the actual gig. I wasn't really expecting stage dives and scissor-kicks from the AMs. But I was hoping for more than what felt like unenthusiastic, skinny Brits who seemed to hide behind their new shaggy hair cuts. They did sound good, and ultimately I was happy to see a band I like so much playing live for the first time. The Airborne Toxic Event's show was essentially the flipside of the AM's set. While I think their music can be a bit...eh, "poppy" or "sappy" at times. The fact is that they do it well. Their elaborate stage gave me pause before the show started (with its elevated drum set, projection screens, etc). However, they used them all very well. The energy they put into their set made up for the lack of enthusiasm the AMs displayed. When taken as a whole...the concert wasn't the best, but it was a lot of fun.

Henry Who, Less Airborne More Arctic!

by Miza on 9/24/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Strolled up to the intimate Ogden theater 15 minutes after doors expecting to see the opening act but was surprised to hear the first track from the Arctic Monkeys set list. Was able to get a great spot in the crowd to enjoy the awesome show. Arctic Monkeys have always rocked in their songs but they definitely put a little extra on them for the show which made it very entertaining. Good lights good sound, excellent track list. Arctic should have been the headliner as I left half way through Airborne because they were BORING!

    Arctic monkeys should have headlined

    by Lumos82 on 9/24/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

While both bands were great Arctic Monkeys proved last night what makes them so good: a deep song catalog and talent way beyond their years. This is the next great band (already is really) and the sooner America realizes that the better we will all be.

Airbourne Toxic Event was simply marvelous!

by JanelleM on 9/21/09The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

They were awesome at the 9/17/09 show at the Pomona Fox Theater. All seats at the theater are great. I had the first row on the balcony and they were great seats. This band should make it, as the entire cd is great. They are just as good live. I would see them again and again. I wish them the best. They put on a good show and look forward to more of their music in the future. Will definately follow this band!!!!!!!!!

Airborne Toxic Event has sexy-man-voice singing!!!

by JanetM on 9/21/09The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

They need to fire the person in charge of audio; Base was WAYYYYY to loud and the voice and violin weren't heard. Lead singer even caught on, but the audio person didn't . Singer put his thumb up to increase vocal volume, got no result, and proceeded to push over the microphone. This band put on a good show; very energetic. I want to go see them again in a small venue like this one.

Airborne was great, the 3 hr wait wasn't

by yan1se on 9/20/09The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

Airborne can definitely put on a performance as well as the opening group Red Cortez. I personally could have done fine without Henry Clay People. However, waiting for an 8pm show and not seeing Airborne until almost 11pm was pretty annoying. Fortunately Airborne is unforgettable so the performance itself pushed the overall experience to 4 stars.

The Airborne Toxic Event is just an amazing group! I've been a fan for so long! I'm glad they're finally getting the kind of attention that they deserve. I do miss the small venues and being able to talk to the band members though. Regardless, I always love seeing them perform!

    Airborne is growing up!

by Silvernet on 9/18/09The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

Airborne is growing up! You can see many differences between the last show on March 2009 and Yesterday in the Fox theater. They refreshed the songs. They had a acoustic set in the show. Even the stage has changed a lot! Very, very good!

    Airborne Rocks!

by mbaud001 on 9/18/09The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

The Airborne Toxic Event put on an amazing show. They had two opening acts, Red Cortez, and The Henry Clay People. While these two were fun they didn't leave a big impact. The Airborne Toxic Event however were incredible. Every member of the band was full of life and oozed charisma. The Fox Theater in Pomona was a nice venue, very intimate.

    Airborne is the real deal

by tatefan on 9/18/09The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

Not only do they write great music, they know how to put on a show at the same time. It is the second time I have seen them and I enjoyed it even more.
