About

THE AGGROLITES IN CONCERT:

For more than a decade, The Aggrolites have kept rudeboys and rudegirls feeling the good vibes with a unique brand of "dirty reggae" that combines '60s soul, ska, and early dub.  At their skank-heavy live shows the band charges their way through upbeat favorites like "Free Time" and "Reggae Hit L.A." with enthusiasm to spare, never failing to get audiences singing and dancing with their infectious energy. From the chant-along chorus of "Banana" to the funky rhythms of "Jimmy Jack", The Aggrolites deliver an energetic and party-worthy concert experience that satisfies fans of old-school reggae and contemporary ska alike.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Aggrolites formed in Los Angeles in 2002 as the backing band for reggae heavyweight Derrick Morgan. The project with Morgan stalled but the band continued playing together, and in 2003 they made their debut with the album Dirty Reggae. They signed to independent ska punk label Hellcat Records in 2005 and released a self-titled album on the imprint the following year. Their rise continued in the late '00s with their third album Reggae Hit L.A., an acclaimed release that they supported on tour with UK ska icons Madness. The Aggrolites have continued to release records and tour extensively since then, getting ticket buyers moving with their rocksteady sound and adrenaline-filled showmanship every time they take the stage.

Saw the Aggrolites ONE time and they rocketed to the top of my favorite live acts list. Great live sound, killer energy and they really know how to get a crowd moving.

  • Not what we expected

For a brunch and day party we thought there would be live music throughout the day with the DJ playing in between. This was not the case. We got there at 12:30 only to be sequestered downstairs. The food was over priced and the DJ played till 4:15 when we were finally allowed upstairs. The show was good but we saw no reason why it took 4 hours to setup which is what we were told was happening. Overall we will not go again. Oh and apparently there was a raffle but when we got our food they took our raffle tickets, ripped them and threw them in the trash. Wonder who won the raffle.
