Tech N9ne on Tour
One of hip-hop's most technically advanced wordsmiths, Tech N9ne's performances speed by with the explosive energy of a rock show and the high-velocity feats of an athletic event. Playing dozens of shows every year, Tech N9ne is one of rap's hardest-working live acts.
In 2017 and 2018 alone, he embarked on the Strictly Strange tour, the Strange Reign tour, the Planet tour, and the Independent Grind tour, taking his Strange Music labelmates and more across the country for displays of rap virtuosity.
Tech is at home at hip-hop festivals like Rock the Bells, Soundset, and Gathering of the Juggalos, as well as rock festivals like Rock on the Range, Rocklahoma, and Knotfest. With N9NA, his 21st album in a storied career, Tech N9ne is once again hitting the road with the It Goes Up tour.
Tech N9ne Background
Aaron Yates — better known as rapper Tech N9ne — is one of the most successful independent hip-hop acts in the world. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Yates absorbed an eclectic mix of influences: the gospel played by a churchgoing mother, the rock loved by his uncles, and the emerging waves of confrontational hip-hop by acts like Public Enemy and N.W.A.
Dubbed "Tech N9ne" due to his rapid-fire flow, Yates was an early technician of the high-velocity Midwest style known as "chopper rap." He captured the attention of multiple record labels throughout the 1990s, appearing on the soundtrack to a 1997 film, Gang Related, and Sway & King Tech's 1999 album This or That.
Tech N9ne's breakthrough came nearly a decade into the game when he co-founded his own label, Strange Music, in 1999. He's released 19 of his 21 albums on Strange, eventually breaking the record for most Top 10 appearances on Billboard's Rap Albums chart.
Tech had Top 5 debuts with releases like 2011's All 6's and 7's, 2013's Something Else, and 2015's Special Effects. In those albums, his genre-crossing style and jaw-dropping abilities found him working with superstars like Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Lil Wayne, The Doors, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, and Corey Taylor of Slipknot.
In 2015, Tech N9ne had a crossover hit with "Hood Go Crazy," featuring B.o.B. and 2 Chainz. His core audience has always been a passionate following of underground rap fans who see him command crowds at one of his many headlining tours.
This was my first tech n9ne concert and I had the best time ever. The performances were great and this definitely won't be my last
awesome show, great venue tech n9ne should play there more often
I don't even like rap very much, but TECH N9NE is in a league of his own. That was my 4th show and I'll go every time he comes to Seattle
The experience went WAY beyond the cost of the ticket. The small venue extenuated the performance atmosphere. The crew were all very chill. I would most definitely travel to attend another Tech N9ne/ Brotha Lynch show. Most definitely. Classic.
I think this was his best show and i have seen him 4 or 5 times. it was so awsome how brotha lynch was there. I really like prozac and cognito and the whole show in general. I'd like to see all of them again someday.
I thought it was a awsome performance! this was my 2nd time seeing them and it just keeps getn better and better!!! KAT CALHOUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
simply amazing, krizz kalico was the sh*t, anxiety is the best song. tech was amazing, didnt stay to long for lynch tho
Tech N9ne always kills it! I love the venue, it's been perfect the last couple shows! The Showbox SoDo is amazing. The staff rock, they always make sure the people get water and stay cool, and they are very very thoughtful. Tech n9ne is my favorite artist, and always will be. Especially since him and his crew rock the stage better than anyone else.
Tech always does it up when he's in the 206 but last night was my favorite show yet! Tech's entrance from the ball, Lynch commin out of a coffin with a machete **crazy**. The whole crowd was hyphe and Seattle showed our love for Sickmade music. I can't wait for him to come back!
TechZilla was frickin sweet everything was perfect brotha lynch hung delivered krizz kaliko was classic venue was crowded security team was annoying but good times young people on drugz prozak stole the show
Love tech but hated the crowd. The place was packed with obnoxious 15 year olds! The lapse between the performers was long, this concert was nothing like el corazon sickology tour.
The show itself was great. TechNine and his crew always put on a great performance. I'm not a huge rap fan but seeing his performances live have made me a believer. Getting into the show was another story. Something needs to be done to move the lines faster. It should be more organized. Getting there at 8:00, we saw a line like I have not seen in a long time. We went and got something to eat and returned at almost 9:00; the line was still out of control craziness. We parked and walked to a bar to get a drink; returned a little after 10:00 and the line was still long. Something more needs to be done. I don't know if making actual lines down the sidewalk would help, opening additional doors, etc. I will not come back to this venue unless it is for a show I cannot live without seeing.
This was my frist time going to see Tech N9n3, and I was not let down for one second. I got there at 2:30 and waited til 8:30 in the pouring rain to see this event. It was worth every rain drop. Tech N9ne really knows how to throw a concert. I give mad props to everyone that was performing, but mostly Kris Kallico. Man, that guy is a big dude, but he's got tons of energy and stamina. I would most def go again and I highly HIGHLY reccommend anyone to go see Tech the next time he's in town!!!
Krizz Kaliko you were amazing!! You killed it for real! I've never seen anyone who could go from rappin ta singing like that in my life! And Tech of course u killed it too!
it was nice to see so many performers. my husband just recently lost his father and was under the impression that he wouldn't be able to be excited for the show. he thanked me this morning on our way to work - - he had a GREAT time. we both LOVELOVELOVE tech n9ne but he was most ecstatic to see brotha lynch hung for the first time in concert.
the show was awesome! I had a lot of fun. Irv Da Phenom, Stevie Stone, Kriss Kalico, Kut Kalhoun, and Tech N9ne was a good colaboration.
From start to finish this concert was a non stop party. Stevie stone and irv da phenom were perfect openers to a stage show that you will never forget. Tech n9ne threw it down for lawrence, kansas, as he usually does. He was on stage for about 2 hours with kutt calhoun, krizz kaliko, and special guest Big Scoob. This was my 8th tech n9ne concert, and it didn't let me down.
Great Show. u could tell Tech was roadblown but he deserves all the due credit to him!! Great Show!
the tech n9ne show was off the chain! it was one of the best shows i have seen in a really long time!
very good show even though it felt short he needs to have a show just for him no openings or other people so we can get our fill, lol
