Tash Sultana on Tour

To see Tash Sultana live is a truly hypnotic experience. The multi-instrumentalist makes liberal use of loop pedals to achieve her mesmerizing one woman–band sound. Her rich mix of indie, soul, psych-rock, roots, reggae and hip-hop was honed and perfected on the streets of Melbourne as a busker, and she brings a raw, fresh energy to every single performance. Ever since a homemade video of one of her performances went viral in 2016, Sultana's been a regular on the road, selling out shows and arenas across Australia and New Zealand, Europe and North America. By the time she released her 2018 debut album, Flow State, she already had several major festivals under her belt and a string of sold-out shows for her 2019 Flow State World Tour.

Tash Sultana in Concert

Tash Sultana was practically born with a guitar in hand — but that's nothing compared to the dozen-plus instruments she now plays. Growing up in Melbourne, the Australian singer-songwriter took to the six-string as a three year old, before quickly catching on to a wide range of other string, brass and percussion instruments, all with no formal training. As a teenager, she brought her talents to the streets of Melbourne as a busker. She eventually started a Bandcamp page and began making videos of her street performances for YouTube. Already a skilled performer, Sultana gained international recognition at age 20, when a live recording of her original track "Jungle" went viral on Facebook, racking up over a million views in under one week. This led to the 2016 release of the Notion EP, and the following year Sultana signed to New York indie label Mom + Pop, eventually playing at various music festivals and venues across Australia, North America and Europe. In 2018, she released her debut album, Flow State, which she wrote, sang, produced and played all 15 instruments on. This would earn her an ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Music Award for Best Blues and Roots Album of the year — not to mention even more fans around the world.

    Awesome musician

by Sweet D on 10/5/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

The venue was clean. It was loud, almost too loud(and I am not the only one that said that). Beer prices were absolutely stupid....I expect to pay more than at a standard bar but this place.....never will I buy a beer from there again...and thanks for not having the prices posted. The ticket prices for shows are getting out of hand...I will probably stop going simply because a ticket is now almost the same as my phone bill! Tash..sweet Tash. Her voice lifted everyone's spirits. She took away the pains for a while and it was a great escape. Is there an instrument she cannot play? She definitely has an old soul cause her lyrics are too deep for someone so young. Soon she will be selling out larger venues, and while she will be banking, I will not pay the price of admission.

    Very nice!

by Kabob on 10/5/23713 Music Hall - Houston

Incredible performance, sound was terrific and the venue felt just right with that amount of people in the crowd. I’ve been to floor shows that felt a little too crowded

    Just damn

by Travis on 10/5/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Her recorded albums don’t do her any justice; her musicianship is otherworldly, her stage energy is intoxicating, and even if you’re not familiar with the song you’ll find yourself dancing. She deserves a 10 on a 5 star rating.

    Fun, Impressive but Impersonal

by Nathan on 10/3/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Throughout the concert Tash definitely did her thing. She played (shredded rather) numerous instruments (at least 6-7) and sung her heart out. All of her songs were rewritten though, and I’m guessing it was to make them more exciting and more concert friendly as some of her song have long buildups? I liked the EDM aspects to some of the earlier songs. But, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the excessive auto tune she used for the songs where her voice already shined (Notion and Jungle). Regardless, I’m not here to make judgment of the artistic style chosen. However, I was a little let down with how she didn’t really introduce herself, she didn’t really interact with the crowd and when she “did”, it was just pre coordinated hand movements. At the end of the concert she didn’t thank any of the fans for coming out or say anything for that matter to the attendees. She just jogged off stage and lights went dark. She came off super shy and it almost seemed like she wasn’t quite enjoying herself, rather just going through the motions of what’s expected of an artist in concert. That’s nothing bad though and im grateful she even went on tour and performed the way she did, I just felt like I didn’t get to SEE and experience Tash, rather, just watch her perform similar to what she does on YouTube. Still impressive, but the personal connection was missing. Granted, I would go again and I can’t say anything because I’ll won’t ever be in stage and do what Tash is capable of doing. One of the most impressive artists I’ve seen live!

by Pit Captain on 10/3/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Tash was amazing live--- up until seeing this show all I had seen was her NPR Tiny Desk concert from before Covid. She is so talented-- Never thought I'd see her rip so hard on a mandolin. Drum set, all kinds of guitars, flute/recorder--- and the most amazing and unique voice. Incendiary performance! Bravo Tash!!!! Oh --- buy Pit Tickets to her show always. And be ready to dance! So much fun
