Tampa Tribune Deck was great. Dollar beers weren't a bad touch, either :)

Rowdies are a kick in the grass

by Ilarion on 5/13/10Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

Tampa desperately needs a professional soccer team and I am glad that the Rowdies are back! They also need a real stadium. Yankees Stadiums is an ATTROCIOUS soccer venue: 1/4 of the field is covered in clay which makes it unplayable. The seating chart is also awful! I will be at every Rowdies game this season, supporting them through good days and bad, but they need their own staidum, and, most importantly, they need to get the hell out of Yankee's field after this season! Go Rowdies!

    Welcome back, Rowdies!

by Finaghy on 5/12/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

Steinbrenner Field was a good choice in spite of the dirt runway in the corner. It comes with good public address and vending facilities, and is a good size for the number of fans that turned up. We would have felt lost in Raymond James and the local college stadiums lack the professional feel that you guys deserve. The standard of play was better than we might have expected of a match between second level teams. We can always watch top level soccer on TV but it's not the same as being there with other Fannies. Our family certainly got our money's worth and two of my co-workers are making plans to go to a future game. Thanks guys!

    Need new venue

by Soccercoach1 on 5/10/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

FC Tampa Bay needs a new home. Field is way to small for that level of play. Expect to see a lot of penalty kicks if you want to see very much scoring. Ad board on west side of field needs to be moved so lower level seats can see field better.

    Great home opener

by JuRae on 5/10/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

The game was great fun! There are a lot of skilled players but need more time working together. Wonderful crowd (over 8,000) and "rowdy" too but in a family fun way. Concession stands were overwhelmed at halftime. Restrooms were clean and stocked. Parking well organized. We plan to go again, even though we drive from Lakeland.

Rowdies Game was full of Team spirit

by MichBrit on 5/10/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

The game was full of Rowdies and soccer followers. There were people of all ages. We took my eight year old and he really got into the chanting and yelling at the ref with the crowds. The Tampa Tribune deck was awesome.

    Opening Game

by cyberbucs on 5/9/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

THE POSITIVE: I loved the Rowdies coming back...loved the old time players introduced as well as the fireworks and the passion of the fans in the stands. Also noticed a nice young crowd...many kids which is the way to go! THE NEGATIVE: The band was disappointing...they didnt play enough. Also I didnt hear the Rowdies theme song play over the PA until just before the fireworks...should be played a lot more during the game. The stadium is lame for soccer, but I understand its only temporary. I paid a premium for seats with a view from the middle of the field , but the best view to sit is behind the goal which people payed less for so we moved. Overall experience, it was great coming back and I will be back again because its affordable and love the Rowdies.

    Rowdies at Steinbrenner field

by Vincyman on 5/9/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

The General Seating at only $12 a ticket.was a great choice and it allowed a good view of the game via a variety of seating choices.

Love the Rowdies, Need a Better Field

by FCTampaSoccerFan on 5/9/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

Come on, the converted baseball field isn't conducive to great sightlines or a great interaction with the game. Use the UT Stadium or make a deal with USF to add bleachers to their stadium - after all, the green and gold colors are a match! Let's put this team on a real soccer pitch or use Buccaneer Stadium. Concessions - the venue was totally unprepared for the crush before the game and during half-time. The level of concession staffing was more conducive to a nine-inning four-hour baseball game. The concession staff was working like crazy, but were overwhelmed by the crowd. Overall, great game and glad the Rowdies are back. They did their job, now let's get the right venue.

    Rowdies are back

by Thresh on 5/9/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

Just attended the home opener. Talk about bringing back memories. Seeing the old guys, hearing the songs, seeing the fans with all their old Rowdies gear. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who kept stuff in his closet all this time. It was a blast. The stadium's not the optimal place to watch a game, but hey- it was a game, and it was the ROWDIES. WOW.

    Overall great time!

by BillandDebbie on 5/9/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

Overall, we had a great time and we are very excited to have the Rowdies back. My only complaint for the evening is that the event seemed to be understaffed. There were very few people directing traffic in and out of the event and inside, most of the vendors were closed, so the lines were very, very long most of the time to get snacks, beer, etc. This was the innaugural home game though, so hopefully it runs a little smoother next time.

The soccer was great and I hope the Rowdies are successful in this market. I can't recommend my seating area for viewing the game. I let ticketmaster pick the best available seats and we were put at a table in the Tribune Deck area down the right field line. The most expensive seats in the stadium and we couldn't see the game. I ended up standing in order to see. I'll attend more games but we'll be in a different section.

    Rowdies Are Back in Tampa

by soccerdad1 on 5/9/10George Steinbrenner Field - Tampa

Overall had a great experience @ the game. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a big crowd. Hopefully, they keep coming out to support the team. The field was obviously not regulation which I believe impacted the game. Hopefully, someday a soccer specific stadium will be built. The refereeing was terrible but that is part of the game. I thought the team effort was very good especially going down a man. I will definately be back to see more games.

parking was great and getting into the stadium went smoothly. the only problem was watching a soccer game played on a baseball field but hey-rather be able to see the Rowdies play than not!
