About

Tammy Faye is a new biographic musical based on the life and legacy of American evangelist Tammy Faye Messner. Following celebrated West End performances, the cast is led by two-time Olivier Award winner Katie Brayben as Tammy Faye and Olivier and Tony Award nominee Andrew Rannells as Jim Bakker. The new musical tells the story of Tammy Faye’s rise to fame in the 1970s as a televangelist alongside her husband Jim Bakker. As the pair build a devout congregation of followers across the nation, Tammy Faye’s message of compassion and kindness is threatened by scandal, jealous rivals and a world a step behind her determination to lead with love. Tammy Faye will feature music by Elton John and lyrics by Jake Shears with a book by James Graham, and Rupert Goold will carry over as director from the London production, with additional casting to be announced soon. Broadway previews for Tammy Faye begin at the Palace Theatre October 19, 2024.
